So what's the consensus here?

Why does a 9 year old need to learn how to operate an Uzi again?

Were they planning on taking a trip to the middle east?

Prices start at $90/week. $300/mo if you sign up by phone.

It's a television show. Do you have any idea how boring it would be if they followed laboratory policy and standards every step of the way?

They learn a few things, they hurt themselves a few times, they blow a few things up.

It's good television and you can actually learn a thing or two watching it.

Quit bitching.

Anyone can counter that with "Why does a person need to <insert hot topic> again?"

For example: Why does a person need internet again?

Why does a person need to drive again?

Counter yes, but then you're equating the internet with a machine gun or a car. And while a 9 year old driving on the road may sound like a good idea, it's usually not.

I don't get why we care about this. The parents made a decision to let their kid use the gun. The kid was under direct supervision of what was assumed to be a prefessional in a contained environment. It's a tragic situation but accidents do happen and they were all aware of what was going on.

It's not like this is a big problem in the US as it stands right now. It's a singular event and there doesn't seem to be a number of cases where something like this has happened before so...

What, you don't think the internet can't cause mass murder and destruction?

And I'm sitting here still wondering why a loaded Uzi was given to a 9 year old.
I don't give a rats' arse about the kid having succesfully fired one before, I do not care that the law sais that it is ok, my mind just can't make any sense of it.

One of the main reasons for going to a shooting range is to ensure people can practice using their guns safely, giving a loaded automatic weapon to a 9 year old child is anything but safe.
No matter the conditions.

Because it's gun stupidity. 9 year old with an Uzi? Dumb gun culture that shames those who actually hunt or practice responsible self-defense.

Teaching your kid to hunt or use a .22 is a whole different ballgame from trying to emulate an action movie. And now some instructor is dead for no reason.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

I know of people that go hunting as early as 6 or 7, and that's even more dangerous conditions than a range.

Don't be hyperbolic.

There's a very readily available reason.

Says who?

Do you have experience with Uzi's? Do you have experience handling guns?

Say this guy had done this same thing with kids of the same or younger age 100 times without any incident. Could it be considered safe at that point?

You might have more experience than I assume you do but there are others that disagree with your sentiment so who's to say if it really is or isn't?

Indeed.

People need to cut back on the emotions a bit. Seeing way too much anti-gun nonsense from people who don't know what they're talking about.

The video shows exactly what you would expect to happen, cutting out right before the good part. (I'm sure there's one out there that doesn't).

When I said "waving" I had hoped it was full on cartoon style moron waving the gun, it wasn't sadly.

The gun just lifted due to the recoil, he was in a really stupid spot, got shot in the head.

Don't know how this guy got his job, incredibly stupid thing to do. And in no way will I ever change from knowing that he got what he deserved.

He put his head to close to the line of fire. He's practically leaning into it.

You act like this kid was out on the streets of NYC hunting down bad guys or using the uzi to get the remote control because otherwise she would have had to get up to get it.

They were in a contained environment with people that do this every day. It was a tragic accident but not one that highlights some kind of systemic problem.
