Then we'd end up without any kind of Allegory and be stuck with Al Gore.

And while I know some of you will just disregard this as a "spun, foreign, or illegitimate" news source...

Woman stoned to death for adultery

Quote:
The July 18 stoning was the second in a span of 24 hours. A day earlier, 26-year-old Shamseh Abdullah was killed in a similar way in the nearby town of Tabqa by Islamic State fighters. Both were accused of having sex outside marriage.

Quote:
The jihadis recently tied a 14-year-old boy to a cross-like structure and left him for several hours in the scorching summer sun before bringing him down -- punishment for not fasting during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

I don't see the picture of the stoned woman.
Because that's the most important part, the picture.

Never mind that the stoning happened and killed the women, you rather see the body....

No because I know that the story is bullsh*t.

Ironically, the same way I believe a mythical book that was "man made" that I personally believe in, you guys went and believed something that was written on the internet. LOL.
As much as I loath to say it, I trust Associated Press a whole lot more than the Qur'an.

At least AP is accountable for what they write. While the authors of the Qur'an are long dead.

Yeaaaaaah you definitely have a great point. Why should you believe anything the Qu'ran says right? Because you know, it was written by an illiterate man so yeah ofcourse your right! Why have I been so blind!
Why do you put so much faith in a book designed to suppress a society?

Qu'ran is not there to suppress you nor anyone. If you think it's nothing but a myth, then you have the right to believe so and that's your opinion. The same way that you have the right to believe and think, I do have the same thing, whether in believing in the flying spaghetti monster or Al Gore or Christianity or Science. Each being has the right to think, that's why humans have brains if I remember correctly.

A better question: why do you think that the Q'ran is considered a credible source? The bible isn't a credible source aside from the exact stuff it covers. You will get laughed at if you use citations from the Q'ran in a report.

I have my own sources, it would honestly be a waste of your time if I do try to proof to you since you would probably call it garbage and accusing me of forcing you to believe in what I believe in, so I would rather keep it to myself. When your actually really interested in learning, then that's going to be different.

Yup, I figured as much.

Qur'an is there as a tool to suppress a society that worships Islam. That's right, Islam is suppressing you!

Want to know why? Because any religion (or anything really) that inhibits free will (asking questions that doesn't get you killed for heresy, places one sex/race/group of people over another, enforces a dress code on one sex/race/group), promotes division (killing/hurting those of a different faith, race segregation, clan segregation, sex segregation), and overall encourages hatred among the people against each other (same examples as above) is suppressing the society that worships or follows it! This concept is same for everyone and not exclusive to one group or another.

But let me ask you this, have you ever stopped to ask the question "Why?"

That is a cop out, and you know it. Also, stop pretending to "educate" us if your intent isn't to force your religion on us.

The why is easy. It allows a select few, who are at the top of the social hierarchy, to obtain control over everyone else in the society. It was particularly useful in our past because most of the population couldn't read or write and information was restricted to those with connections who tended to be at the top anyway. Nowadays it's thought control via political correctness and pressure for social acceptance that's used. "For the women and children" and other extremely simplified rhetoric.

No bad mouthing here. I loved the show, and Picard was the best imo.

Although DS9 was my favorite with the center being more about politics than anything.

People believe what they want to believe, and everyone is biased to some degree. Even the people who believe that their opinions are completely based off of fact are biased towards a false sense of intellectual superiority. Also, what the facts actually are and how they are interpreted are two different things.

For me it ended sometime last decade. I really can't abide the medium any more.

I used to think it was the commercials and laugh tracks that was turning me off but it turned out it was the medium itself.

The question I was referring to is "Why <insert soul searching question here>?"

Like: Why am I here?
Why are people like this?
Why did God create man like this if he is omnipotent?
Why does <insert religion> hate me so much?
Why do people claim to know the unanswerable?

Things like that.

You and several others in this thread have been steadily insulting him and his religion with clichéd remarks, and arguing about what he says rather than accepting it at face value, given that you're not of his faith and ought not to try to pick apart things you're not familiar with.

The more you write, the more it's obvious you haven't read, or even skimmed the source. It enforces a dress code on everyone. Men are expected to dress modestly, but in some countries it's more pronounced on women. Very few people are forcibly made into ninjas, contrary to what the French would have you believe.

The only abrahamic religion (which is the fixation of the thread no matter how many times you insert ''all religions'' into your uninformed paragraphs, although nobody's pointed it out) which condones it in its manual is Judaism. The others condemn it.

Perceived societal problems, not religious problems. As outsiders, how can we fairly judge them, having thoroughly been conditioned to reject their ideals?

That's really convincing. I too, now believe that everyone who believes in something is <slur in the guise of generic misconception>.

Honestly though, you'd benefit greatly from an entry level grade school religious studies lesson. It'd clear up most of your misconceptions, and give you a chance to meet your peers.

I'm off, this forum's giving me Leukemia. Enjoy your memes. ;^)
