Has this been verified on a scale where somebody can actually justify saying that it does indeed work? I want hard evidence!

It seems very unlikely... I think the entire community is trolling me.

Since this is the first I've heard of this, it sounds like you're the one doing the trolling.

It certainly gives you the message, and the PW I /fumed at last night suddenly had some procs we hadn't had a message for before I did it.

You sure it was the /fume or PW changing forms? I'm aware when PW loses hp his form changes and procs change when he changes form or the position of his wings...

Wasn't form change. Pickups forgot NIN tools, etc., to proc and I had to drop and hold it at 16%, at which point I did the /fume.

Haha, I used to be afraid to emote at mobs, in that "maybe THIS one" detects by emotes... so silly.

So I've heard several times, I just find it hard to believe they would implement yet another way to make VW easier than it already is after the addition of phase displacers.

Chat log erased the fight but really if you are going to doubt it, try it yourself. Once you see it, slap yourself for me for doubting.

The responses to this thread are a good example of why things like Legion are 'difficult'.

Fine. I confess it, I'm trolling. I'm part of a conspiracy to get you to waste a third of a second the next time one of your VW fights stretches past five minutes. Kind of a lot of work for the payoff, now that I think about it.

I don't think being skeptical about something as ridiculous as this mechanic has any bearing on one's ability to play this game.

If this is true ... that using the "/fume" emote is actually built-in to the Voidwatch mechanics as some form of "secret weapon" ... then FFXI has really hit a new low.
