I’ve gone from playing like a crackhead to people thinking I hate the game because of Sortie. I just stopped caring about FFXI’s endgame, but what endgame is it, really...

I don’t think I’ll ever have the ferocity for FFXI again unless they decompile the game with AI and let the janitor who keeps the game running use Claude to fix the stank left behind by Sortie.

The reward is not static.

The reward for doing the run, not the additional plate. We were talking about campaigns that are more rewarding. The potential for reward is the same here regardless of how many runs you do back to back.

Your assumption is that it will be difficult to get the plate and mine is that it will not be. We'll have to wait to see who's the ***.
Lets try this again, lets put some numbers.

Lets say you have a group that goes at 7am before work, you leave for work at 8:30. If you get the plate you cant use it. If you use it at 5pm, your plate wont be recharged by 7am the next day. Zero gain.

Lets say you have a group that goes at 3pm, before the wife and kids get home, or you finish up just around the same time. Same issue as above: you cant go after because you have RL duties to tend to and doing the run later on will *** with the schedule. Zero gain.

No ones going to plan around a MAYBE doing a second run.

And heres the kicker: if you get your free plate, you cant even do anything with it. Its not a speed-charged Ruspix plate, its giving you the primary entry KI back. For most people, all it will do is shave 20 hours off their Ruspix plate.

In your scenario where you do one run early and one run later, causing the next-day's plate to not be ready for your 7 am static, you can just borrow time from your likely unused Ruspix. In your first example you take 10 from your Ruspix and can join your group at normal start time. Even if you repeat this process, you can probably get two days worth of Ruspix time-borrowing before you run out. That's 4 runs in two days and leeching necessary time from Ruspix, before returning to once per day. And that's using your extreme example.

You're missing the point, but your example is perfect. The guy who is already running Sortie daily doesn't need a campaign. In fact, based on numbers we've already been over, anyone in a capable group doesn't need to run Sortie daily to keep up with their psyche allowance. He shouldn't feel bad and I don't feel bad for him.

The campaign is so people who aren't progressed can still get into a pug run on their main job, but still have the option to go right back in and unlock gear for another job. The campaign is so casuals like me can go in and pre-farm KI, get some chances at some needed starstones and actually maximize my main run. They're there so people don't have to feel like they're losing out if they want to help someone (who actually needs it) with H unlocks.

Nothing personal to anyone here, but if you're progressed past the point of needing anything like this then you didn't need a campaign. Are you struggling?

"you have one CHANCE per day"
The way I read this is as "one opportunity per day" to obtain a fresh Shiny Plate KI. SE is notoriously bad at being clear, especially in their translations, we all know. I very well could be wrong, but the way I am understanding the Campaign is: You will be guaranteed to get a Shiny Plate KI upon opening a chest once per day, not that there is a set x probability of obtaining a Shiny Plate KI upon opening every chest. So go in, open resting A chest (or any other), boom KI drops. The fallout where someone enters and opens every chest they can but gets scuffed luck and no free KI would only amplify how bad this Campaign is.

Starting to think you're an SE plant the way you are defending an objectively worse campaign idea than any of the others provided that would also benefit new players more than extra plates that are mostly going to go to waste (from both new players and veterans).

Bold to assume everyone has a fully charged plate.

Even bolder to assume it will last the full three weeks at that rate. Ruspix plate can hold 20 hours of charge. For every 5 hours your Shiny plate is ready (meaning 20 hours since you last entered sortie), you get 1 hour charge on your Ruspix plate (it goes by seconds, I know, 5 seconds out, 1 second charged). If you're going to be using charge every time to get the shiny plate ready faster, you likely wont be accumulating any time on your Ruspix plate. Scheduling will vary, but if you have to burn four hours of charge to get your Shiny Plate ready for standard group start time because you used your gifted shiny plate after work, you can realistically only do that five times during the campaign period.

Unless my understanding of charging the plate is wrong because that system is so *** confusing.

Interesting, because in YOUR example, it was a guy who plays for an hour in the morning and can't play until 5pm. He's so deathly afraid of missing his group the next morning, but now we're also pretending he's USING his Ruspix plate every single time it's ready and doesn't have one available? When is HE using this plate? The gymnastics aren't necessary, we understand your initial point, but now it's sounding silly of an example.

10 hours borrowing twice is 20 hours, you can still make use of the freebie in your extreme example, if even to a limited degree, to where it won't impact your normal static's time. You might be able to repeat this weekly, so you gain like an extra 2 runs per week, even assuming the worst time stretch you created in this imaginary scenario.

The campaign is really bad... It's not aimed at new players or established players, despite anyone's cope in either direction. It's just more disrespect of our time.

Doing ANYTHING else to enhance our runs, like they've done with EVERY OTHER campaign for any given piece of content (Odyssey even for example) would benefit both new and established players simultaneously.

Why go to bat for SE on this? When they make bad choices like this, they should be told it's really bad, no ones happy, and to do better...

MOST new players will have too much to do to bother doing double runs, assuming you can even open enough boxes to get the key item consistently and that's taking into account that they already have to have been USING their double run in the 1st place to refresh the KI

Established hardcore teams that use their KI weekly or bi-weekly depending on how frequently they run MIGHT use it and do double runs more often, but as others have said this is a FRACTION of the established teams or players who PUG.

The majority of bonus key items generated will be used to solo/practice/fix an aminon mistake, and the gains will be very sub par when you factor the time commitment and scheduling.

No matter how you toss it, having the campaign not boost runs passively in ANY way (you can debate all you want on how much is appropriate), to incentivize people to do the content more, engage in objectives, help new/returning players bridge the gap, give established players some reprieve on the horrible drop rates...? .......... That's a horrible decision, and really out of touch. Nope, none of that.

Whomever they have making some of these decisions lately is just plain out of touch... for every few things that are great (Orvail keys, Shami's Trove, Strange Happenings RSE)... We get NONSENSE decisions that no body wants or just waste great opportunities forever. (ACP HTMB, new Phantom Gem campaign, new Sortie Campaign, Limbus Telopanos weapon Augments, ...Limbus as a whole)

EDIT: And yeah, obviously it's not for a player like me... But i'm arguing its not really FOR anyone. It's just bad. If you want to help new players actually help them... If you want to make players enjoy/engage in the content for a limited time... (isnt that the point of a campaign?), make it temporarily more rewarding... They've done it with most every other campaign, I see no reason why they can't simply get this right.
Campaigns are trash and have no place in MMOs and this post is the exact reason why.
You're whining the free hand outs aren't good enough, that's pathetic.

Content that isn't rewarding enough should be perma buffed to be more rewarding, not rotated in fomo garbage.

This game deserves better than mobile slop design.

Man, what? I'm not even defending the campaign at all here, what are you talking about? I'm just challenging the incredibly unrealistic scenario that you presented and answering it within the parameters of the current Plate system. Why are you now moving the goalpost instead of addressing the scenario you created to justify why the extra KI was meaningless? You made up an entire dialogue of a guy with a wife kids who is unable to back to back plates until he gets home from work 10 hours later, and won't benefit from this campaign, and at the first pushback you go "the campaign is just *** dude!" Then you're trolling.

And I'm completely fine with people upset about the campaign, but you really don't have to invent dreamworld scenarios to explain why the campaign (which isn't even here yet) DOESN'T work for most players. It's just silliness. There will be players who hate it and players who love it. And there will be those who openly talk about how much they hate it, but will quietly amass 150k-180k Gallimaufry a day because they can't help themself with FOMO, and be better off when it's all over. It's whatever.

With login points increasing to 25 days for the November campaign, do we know if attaining 3,000 login points is possible for December's campaign?

https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Repeat_Login_Campaign

Logic would indicate that 3 more days gives us 2600+ 3x 100 = 2900 points, which is just 100 points short of 2 old case +1's for the month on a given character. By my napkin math, November's campaign is October 14-November 6, which is 24 days inclusive, so we won't know if the 25th day gives us any kind of bonus to break 3,000 login points.

...I guess only time will tell.

So mine is a "incredibly unrealistic" scenario, but the scenario where everyone will be able to just turn their near-daily 1 hour of sortie event into 2 hours of sortie for 3 weeks is completely realistic?

Major strawman, lol. I didn't say that either. Why are you making arguments where it has to be every single player affected/benefitting from the campaign? There isn't a single campaign (aside from maybe Login Campaign, and that still requires logging in) where 100% of the population can always benefit from it all of the time, unless it's something like a Global enhancement with Cornelia/Matsui-P or something. In most cases with campaigns, some will benefit from it, others will not. That's not unique to the Sortie extra-KI campaign (what I would call it). If it won't help a player, oh well? It's clearly intended to allow you to get more Gallimaufry per day. It's not necessarily less time, but it does bypass the daily lockout to a degree. If that's not a benefit to every single player who wants to earn more daily Gallimaufry, it is what it is.

I'm honestly not defending SE's implementation of this at all. But creating random situations that affect an unknown number of players, and then applying that case to all players as to the reason why the campaign is a failure, well before it has even begun, is as close to trolling as you can get, Nynja.

For what it's worth, as a casual story focused player the Sortie campaign would have been helpful to me when I was trying to make a stage 2 Prime Weapon for the Voracious Resurgence missions. I was making about 3000 Gallimaufry per run solo and would have had the time for a second run per night.

But as others have said a straight boost to Gallimaufry earned would have been better. Two hours a night scrounging for chests in there would not have been much fun.

I disagree and would say it IS unique to the Sortie campaign. Of course the people who play more will benefit from all of the campaigns more, BUT if you look at every other campaign they will benefit 100% of the people entering that content immediately. If you applied the logic of the Sortie campaign to the other campaigns that would be like getting the Abyssea lights filled for you but only after re-entering after spending an hour in there that same day. I'm sure the reception wouldn't be great either if the Ambu campaign was "do 3 Ambus and then your 4th Ambu of the day will have a seal effect applied." The Sortie campaign is unique in that it does not benefit 100% of people who enter the content immediately.

That was actually me choosing my words poorly while effort posting.

What I really meant was that the Ergon process in general is a process that each character in FFXI can only do twice (well, unless you throw them away?).

Whereas every other REMA process generally has at least 12~14 more repetitions in it.

That means that if you don't play Ergon jobs, then campaigns related to them are useless to you, but even if you do play Ergon jobs, the campaigns related to them will be useless to you within a few months if you really make both Ergons your focus.

Yes, yes, there's going to be less niche use Mythics than there are Epeos or Idrises (Idrisi?). But anyone who made niche use Mythics could really use a big fat sexy alexandrite campaign where they get a stack of Alexandrite just for talking to the Salvage NPC.

This is one of the reasons that a lot of campaigns give currency randomly in other events. The other PREMA processes basically go on forever. Ergon ends.

It's crazy to me that we play in a Post-Hoxne FFXI where Mythic Aftermath is basically invalidated.

I would be ecstatic if SE introduced job-updates through Mythic weapon updates. Development effort would be minimal and Performance Benefit could be a huge QoL for players:

Conqueror - Personally, I think WAR great axe was more desirable. I'm tired of Savage Blading everything. Conqueror should be able to shift it's own damage type based on certain criteria.

Glanzfaust - This is the coolest looking REMA and it has no cool additional effects or and speculative DPS bonuses to go with it. Just remove the keep-equip restriction and make it a macro piece for Focus / Dodge.

Laevateinn - If you have this or an R30 Mpaca's Staff, you don't "need" to make a Prime Staff. I'm just saying that value proposition is low for owning more than 1 end-game BLM staff.

Murgleis - I like this for a formerly BiS Magic Accuracy piece, Convert macro piece, you can fulltime this weapon in ~80% of RDM spells casts.

Vajra - Thief's enmity mechanics are used nowhere. This could have been an increase in base TH, to TH9, like the Reisenjima zone-wide TH+1 buff when the Quetz Dragon is killed. This should lower Larceny to 10 minutes.

Liberator - This just makes me sad. Another macro piece.

Aymur - Too many Pet Items offer Pet: Double Attack, so Pet AM3 is marginally useful by comparison, but yay, Pet TP Bonus! It's too bad that both BST and Axe-weapons are crippled as a front-line DDs and the requisite supporting-buffs go.

Kogarasumaru - I'm not even going to dignify this with a response.

Nagi - Just Sad.

Ryunohige - No comment. This is an off-path weapon choice until Trishula and more so with Prime polearm.

Kenkonken - This is already a weapon with tremendous utility for PUP, but who willingly brings PUP things?

Terpsichore - Useful when/if steps matter more than DPS. Fun, but because DNC has so much plate-spinning, and those plates cost DPS, this is speculative value.

Tupsimati - Should have offered an extra stratagem, instead we get extra, situation benefit if you're able to use AM2?

I wish I could predict what motivates Square Enix to implement anything. Everything they do makes me quite sad. Everything they can do, but won't, is just straight up depressing.

Everything they do makes you sad, but they face no repercussions.

That is what you need to understand. That's their motivation.

A free pass to do whatever the *** we want and face absolutely zero consequences. When you know that, everything makes more sense.

They do one thing and implement it across the board without a second thought

Tups augment:
Augments - R15 (Max)
Path A
DMG: +26
Omniscience: Damage +15%
Accuracy +30 Magic Accuracy +30

I bolded the only useful stat.

DMG could have been INT/MND (remember this weapon has zero INT, which is a huge hinderance come endgame fights)
Onmiscience Damage could have been MBBII+ or MAB.

theyre not gonna give uncapped double Galli so people can get 200k/day,

They actually ARE giving you the potential to gain uncapped galli twice per day, just not in the direct way many are requesting.

What everyone wants: Give 1.5x-2x galli in one run
What they are giving: Another entry KI with the chance to earn upwards of an extra hour's worth of Galli

The difference between the two is obviously the latter requires more time. Players want SAME time for more rewards, not MORE time for more rewards (that's not a buff to most).

Like I said, they're not interested in speeding up progress for Sortie without a sizeable effort (more time investment) by the player. They COULD have done it that way, they didn't, they want you playing MORE. It's the same thing with Limbus; they threw extra NMs and ways to increase Units bar, but it's so annoying, most players ignore it. The hardcore players get a few extra box openings per week so they can finish their armor faster, the vast majority don't want to bother with the effort required. So it only benefits a very slim number of players because many already don't have the time to complete the content on it's own, let alone any additional content that is more of a time constraint.

It's quite an annoying way to introduce a campaign for the player, but it makes sense from their POV if you're trying to keep players on the hook as long as possible.

If someone spends 2 hrs a day doing sortie vs. 1 hr/day doing sortie with double galli and quit when the prime is complete, SE is going to get the same subscription fees from this person, if they are in a good group, you're probably psyche gated either way.
