The buying from the AH and NPCing trick will NOT get you banned.

Case in point: Lacusuu of Lakshmi.

Dude has been vacuuming the AH clean of the leavings of fools since years before we all transferred in from Garuda.

He changed his name with the server merge but his buying patterns remained the same. All us Garudans who were trying to get crafting materials know who he was in less than a week.

Aside: why DO people waste AH slots by putting stuff up at less than AH price?

He also operates with Kamatoto. This is where he sends stuff that he resells as stacks, like Dragon Meat.

I dont know the OP nor do i have anything against him, but there has to be more to the story that what he has shared with us so far. While i to share the same sentiment that getting your toon banned (especially if you are someone who has played as long as he has) has to be the worst feeling any game can ever give, i can also say you had to have done something to deserve it.

While we all know SE can ban any of us at any given time if they so desire, we all know they will only do if they legitimately think there is something fishy going on with said account. Just a quick glance at your AH history shows you like to take advantage of NPC pricing, and no, i dont think that should be something that warrants being banned, but if you do this you are basically price gorging the NPCs, and i dont think SE is a fan of that if you do in large amounts. Again, if you feel like you have done nothing wrong, i would call SE and ask for thorough explaination as to why your account is closed.

I really wish you gl OP in getting your account back (if thats even possible)...b/c im one of the ppl that think that every time someone gets banned/retires, thats one tiny step towards the game being shutdown for good. You and you alone know if you truly deserve the ban stick or not, take care.

edit* if anything, try to look at this as a blessing in disguise, as this may be the only way some of us can quit this game for good, heh.

23 + him!

Unless you mean "now 23 because he's banned" in which case 23 + 1 more hopeful!

You fought adman 15 times? Why? you took the end result (red pondweed) and tried to sell it correct? Where did you get the 15 pops? If you got 15 pops between you and your friend with login points alone they will most liklly see this as a possiable RMT act.

Most people dont go though 15 pops in 1 day from 1 account, this could make you look as if you used login points for the main objective of farming gil for a reason unknowing to them thus your a RMT.

Now as stated above i do not know if you bought the pops with login points however, it could be something as totally lame as did you buy the pop? Could the person you bought pop from been a RMT? Did you shout for pop at discounted price? What this would look like is you shouted all day and the only thing you got out of the deal was a high end sellable item.

First off, there never is an "Innocent Victim", especially in a game where bots and RMT (*cough*ComeatME, Bro...*cough*) have pretty much ran the show except for the time that the game became too easy in their sorry opinions.

Leviathan.Comeatmebro said: »
it's extremely unlikely they banned you for that, they aren't worried about someone making 50k from a npc, they already know where they can find 40 people making 2m a day off npc..

if you've made any recent large gil transactions(especially with level 1s), made a (even joking) comment about selling gil in front of someone, etc.. that'd be your cause

Yeah, YOU and how many of your bots, ***?

Odin.Zicdeh said: »
I doubt there's anyone on FFXI anymore that isn't a justifiable ban. Technically using the fairly innocuous windower without any of the real hacks installed is against the TOS and a bannable offense. It's only by virtue of the paradox it's widespread use creates that it isn't targeted by the GM staff. However, that creates a nice loophole that means pretty much nobody has any recourse if they're banned.

Then pull the plug on the whole mess. And it sounds to me as if that might be a real option real soon.

Fenrir.Queazy said: »
FYI you can be banned for selling stuff to an npc. Under that rule tho there are many reason
1. If you are simply gaining to much money to soon

That's *** to begin with. If that were the case, they'd ban basically every prominent player in the game, between what you are saying and what Zicdeh said.

And Kingnobody: WHAT RIGHTS? You seem to be under this mistaken impression that they exist.

You need to level your reading comprehension. It is too low and it shows.

Here, let me help you

post

Welcome to the internet. Where your rights are nonexistent until YOUR rights are threatened.

and post

Quote:
I'm saying that, on the interwebz, nobody has any rights. It is only when your "rights" are threatened (and you pitch a fit over it) does anyone....pitch a fit.

Both of these specifically states that nobody has any rights. So, where do these posts that states that nobody has any rights shows that rights exist? Oh right, they don't!

btw, don't you have a vendetta blog to post, Mr. Dark Renegade?

If it's against the ToS to sell items to an NPC for large amounts of gil in a short time, myself and several people I run with would have been banned by now.

I don't buy crafting items and the like from AH and sell to an NPC, because frankly, that's a dickshit move. That's pretty much a giant f-you to crafters. I will sell aby gold box items to an NPC. Every time I BLU burn in aby I empty my inventory to only carry the gear needed to build lights and burn, I even leave my LS pearl in my mh. I've gotten about 500k off of one run (several dark rings) and all were NPC'd. I've done this several times, in the same 24hr period, with the same toon getting about 2mil and never even had a GM contact me about it.

So unless he sold in excess of 2mil to an NPC then I don't see how he got banned for this.

As for the guilty until proven innocent, I've heard innocent people say this when they felt the odds were stacked against them. Fortunately they had adequate representation.

After reading these posts I'm inclined to agree with several people that there's more to the story. I've GM'd someone that botted a claim from me that wasn't banned, and there's still fishbots out and about that I've seen in the same spot, days on end, various times, and still not banned.

I've settled on a complex narrative where OP unwittingly bangs a GM's wife, spreading delicious herpes. GM goes batshit insane after contracting the virus, murdering his wife by slowing hacking off all her limbs, dissolving said limbs in a bathtub full of lye and sending the torso to the bottom of the nearest body of water; but not before a thorough inquisition reveals the source of said herpes.

Still enraged beyond the level of Chicken Nuggets, GM prepares for the only fitting end to the life of someone in the customer service field: Murder-Suicide. Using his considerable means of minimum wage, OP is tracked by vengeful GM who is ready for final battle. All eventualities are accounted for, save one: The effective range of the RASCAL brand mobility scooter is only 3.5KM on a single charge, and OP lives somewhere between 3.501KM and 12,740KM. Curses, foiled again! But the rage is too great, Vengeful GM must have closure before he rides the wings of the Valkyries to Valhalla. In his act of greatest shame, Vengeful GM breaks the GM's honorbinding oath by issuing an unjustified (in the context of the game) Ban. Ready to die a warriors death, Vengeful GM ingests a full box of Mallomars and slips into a diabetic coma, from which he never awakes.

So on the whole, I'd say OP got off easy.

tl;dr: Short, yet imaginative, story involving a sexually transmitted disease, a murder plot, and finally the untimely dimise of an FFXI character.

Because you first said that nobody has any rights, then you just said (above) that the only "rights" anyone has at all...etc.

So which is it. Are we both contradicting ourselves or not?

btw, how's your vendetta against SE going? Doesn't look like it is going well if you are still playing this game.

just between you and me, if you are going to hate something, you generally don't have anything to do with that thing you hate.

We're not the family of the poster, or the close friends, or the fake friends. We have 0 obligation to show fake and forced empathy and people won't show empathy when (in this case):

1) the situation is fishy as ***
2) the fact that the person would post this kind of topic and in such a way is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE as ***

Just more testimony to the fact that the massive amounts of time and energy we put into this is all just 1's and 0's that can be wiped away for no reason at any time.

If you are worried about it, secure your investment of time by putting it to better use making something tangible.

While it's fair to say this on a tangible level relative to other worldly activities and endeavors, it should not undermine or dismiss the overall experience and joys it has brought about within its timeline of being played.
One could easily say I've wasted 10 years playing FFXI, which is true to some degree, but the people I've met, the places I've explored, the battles I've had, and the feelings I've endured throughout it, I wouldn't trade for anything.

To the OP: Try and take this as an end to your characters tale and time, and let it be an opportunity to start a new one with a different perspective and objective if you're so inclined.
