I've waited so long for this show to arrive :o!!! I LOVED Avatar: The Last Airbender (not the movie, oh god what did they do...)
i personally never watched the cartoon but love the movie i thought it was brilliant actually was shocked to see people critiquing it, the bit at the end when he protects everyone and accepts his role as avatar by building a wall of water was amasing literally had me welling up, and the charachters seemed very rich in depth even if they all didnt have much face time on screen perhaps.

(Decided never to watch a live action of a cartoon again after I tortured myself with the Dragonball one.) I thought Dragonball (movie) was wicked, but then again, I've only watched like three episodes

I drew Naga.
I've so far been not as nerdy excited over this show as I was with ATLA. Then again I've been busy obsessing over other things. I do love watching the posts roll in on the internets when the show is on. Fans are my favorite part.

If you watch the series you'll lose all respect for the movie after you're done... or even after episode 3.

nice! personally i think the show is great, it has the same quirky charm. what makes it great imo, is that it's a continuation while being a whole different story.

I didn't really care for the most recent episode, it was just kinda cheesy and felt like filler. If they had done it closer to the end of the season I think I might've cared about the characters a little more, but right now it just felt really forced, like they're trying too hard to appeal to the "shipping" crowd.
I'll be disappointed if most of the series ends up being about melodrama, so hopefully they've gotten that out of the way for now.

I kinda concur. I jump onto various ships but what episode are we on..5? characters are still being introduced..you cant start shipping this early..thats just silly talk.

I love Avatar, and am really excited to watch the sequel series.
As stated before, you don't have to be a weeaboo or interested in anime at all to like this show. In fact, I'm not so far from having judgmental opinions of people that love anime simply because it's anime like that other thick-skulled poster two pages ago, but I still like this show. Anime or not, good TV is good TV.
Avatar reminds me of Golden Sun: The Television Series, and as that was one of my favourite video games, this series is among my favourite television shows.
I hope consoles that utilize motion technology like Kinect don't limit themselves to simple, utter gimmick games and instead flesh out games like this. Like the idea in this recent Cracked article:
http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-6-greatest-video-games-well-never-get-to-play/
I hope the 'Magic the Gesturing' idea is used in a game like Golden Sun or Avatar, or others where spells are cast with your body in this way. Not simply gesturing with your hands as that article describes, but your whole body, essentially performing standing martial arts forms in order to attack your opponent. It would take true expertise from actual practice to perform the greatest abilities, especially while focusing on defending yourself like the idea in the article.
I find the choreography of the series is so well done. Fight scenes in martial arts inspired animation have come a long way since shows like Dragon Ball Z, where (possibly due to unavailable technology and limited budget & access) the battles had to be depicted with verbal drama in order to raise the suspense level to captivate the viewer. Now these shows can instead captivate their audience with well-choreographed movements and a true-to-life method of summoning elemental powers with martial chi.

Also Japanimation is just a word used to describe cartoons coming from Japan when they first were becoming popular in the West. There's nothing wrong with the word, it isn't really ignorant is it?
Its name is very self-explanatory. To someone in the '80s having the origins of a cartoon described to them by another person who was more knowledgeable on the subject, it is a fine word.

/scratches head.
to put it simply: no, it's a word used by ignorant people, always has been.
to most the phrase "I don't need no bag" is "fine" but it's still wrong.
and neither of these shows are anime.

Seriously arguing semantics.
Nothing ignorant about it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime#Synonyms
It's how Otacon would describe to someone like Snake his inspiration for designing Metal Gear. It's how people referred to it before the term 'anime' was popular or even coined, when anime itself was still barely popular anywhere but Japan.
It's ignorant to call someone who isn't up to date on their pop culture terminology ignorant.

it's very ignorant, your own words describe it as such.
and no it's not ignorant to call people who are ignorant ignorant, it's by definition what they are, they don't know: that makes them ignorant of it, just because you don't like the way it sounds doesn't change what it means.
"japanimation" is a term only used by those who are ignorant, and it should be treated as such.

Feel like they rushed the whole love triangle thing but I like that its a little less darker than it was in Ep. 4.

I think I'll wait a few months and torrent the season, I have an odd schedule and I can't stream at home so I've already missed all but part of one episode, and I don't want to randomly catch some here and there.
I'll give props to Nickelodeon though, they've managed to produce two things of quality for the first time pretty much ever in my book.
(always hated the channel growing up).

I'm enjoying this new Avatar. But I want to see her actually train more. Ang was pretty much a constant next step in becoming the full on Avatar. Korra has just been about Pro Bending.

I've waited so long for this show to arrive :o!!! I LOVED Avatar: The Last Airbender (not the movie, oh god what did they do...) and from the first two episodes I watched it seems to be a very well done sequel.
The first season/book is Air, which is perfect because the main character Korra is the complete opposite of Aang and is proficient in water. She also knows how to use fire and earth but struggles to understand how air even works. I love the character in this sequel, she is the complete opposite of Aang in every way really, and I look forward to watching more of it!
The Legend of Korra premiers on April 14th, and will have a total of 26 episodes. Book one will have a total of 12 episodes while book two will have a total of 14. You can watch the two premier episodes early if you really want to ... ... ... ... ... but otherwise they will both premier on April 14th.
ABOUT LEGEND OF KORRA
Republic City is everything that Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko fought for when they ended the Hundred Year War. With balance restored to the four nations, benders and non-benders can live together in peace, in this thriving metropolitan area. But even the steampunk paradise of Republic City has its problems, as the next Avatar discovers. When Avatar Korra arrives in Republic City to master her airbending, she comes face to face with criminal bending gangs as well as members of a vocal anti-bending revolution. Before long, Korra's Avatar skills are put to the test when she encounters a group of Chi-blockers led by the charismatic and mysterious Amon, who threatens the city and all the benders in it. Despite the immense danger, Korra vows to fight the growing anti-bending revolution. But will she be able to stop Amon before he rises to power and makes his vision of a bending-free world a reality?
 | KORRA / AVATAR
Korra couldn't have less in common with Aang, the previous Avatar. A 17-year-old girl from the Southern Water Tribe, she is as hot-headed and eager as she is talented. When she runs away to Republic City, her stubbornness and impatience get in the way of her bending studies, but it is clear from the start that she is destined for greatness. Korra discovers many new things in Republic City - some amazing and some terrifying. Whether its honing her bending skills in the Pro-bending Arena, facing off with street thugs or facing an anti-bending rebellion, Korra learns that being the Avatar comes with many dangers and responsibilities. As if being a teenager wasn't hard enough on its own! |
 | MAKO / FIREBENDER
A Firebender with a serious side, the handsome and brooding Mako has always taken care of his little brother, Bolin. Growing up on the streets has given him a hard edge, but Mako loves his brother and will do anything to protect them both. Intensely focused on getting their team through the Pro-bending tournament and winning the jackpot, Mako's tightly controlled world gets a little more chaotic when Korra enters the picture. |
 | BOLIN / EARTHBENDER
No matter how intense things get around Republic City (and they do get intense), Bolin is always good for a laugh. Mako's younger brother and Pro-bending teammate, Bolin tends to be more laidback and likes to have a good time. Despite their tough childhood, Bolin always has a smile on his face and a lady on his arm. In fact, it was Bolin who was responsible for introducing Mako to Korra. But Bolin is no clown. When the time comes to buckle down and bend some earth, this tough contender can handle his business. |
 | TENZIN / AIRBENDER
Tenzin and his wife Pema raise their two daughters, Jinora and Ikki, and son Meelo, on Air Temple Island. As Avatar Aang's son and an Airbender, Tenzin carries a great responsibility on his shoulders to continue the dream of his father to protect not only the next Avatar, but also Republic City. Generally very serious and calm, Tenzin's serene life on Air Temple Island is rocked when the impetuous Korra moves into his home to continue her airbending training. As Korra's teacher, Tenzin finds his patience tested time and again but he also realizes that while she has a lot to learn from him, he also has something to learn from her. |
 | CHIEF LIN BEIFONG
Her mother Toph taught Avatar Aang how to earthbend, but Chief Lin Beifong doesn't feel any special affection for the new Avatar. In fact, this metal and earthbending police chief sees Korra's arrival as the biggest threat Republic City has faced in recent times. Korra's reckless ways are constantly leaving Lin Beifong's streets in ruin, and this chief is determined to push the Avatar out of her city. |
 | AMON
Little is known about the mysterious leader of the anti-bending revolution. He wears a mask to conceal his face. He is a nimble, stealthy fighter who shows no fear even against the highest-level bender. His ultimate goal is to rid the world of bending. |
 | NAGA
Korra's polar bear-dog is her loyal companion and main mode of transportation. Historically, this creature was feared and hunted by members of the Water Tribe. Korra is the only person ever to have tamed one. Naga is very protective of Korra, and has learned how to use her strength to help Korra out of perilous situations. |
 | PABU
Bolin found this cute fire ferret scrounging for food on the street and rescued him. He's a mischievous little fellow, always getting into things he shouldn't. But Pabu has gotten Bolin out of plenty of sticky situations with his agility and sharp teeth, and more often, he's been Bolin's partner in crime while playing practical jokes on Mako. |
