I wasn't "formally trained" either, it was technically a trades class for "optional learning credits" that I really enjoyed.
It was only one of two classes I could actively engage in during my entire high school career, from start to finish. Also, got to work with alcohol with some of our recipes >:D I actually learned more than I bargained for when I joined that class, but I would never let my culinary teachers know that. Hot foods, cold foods, desserts, theory work, inventory basics, cost reduction, safety and sanitation (which I take seriously without going overboard) and meal planning... which I got the lowest marks for. But I was my teacher's favorite student. And I had a natural talent for cooking.

Globally. As a whole. This is a blanketed statement. Do not proceed to tell me about your individual experience at a single location. If you want to pamper yourself with breakfast, go to... Anywhere other than Denny's. Or, make your own flapjack breakfast sandwiches. With Black Jack, and hookers!
