Two years ago I bought a battery electric lawnmower.

Yesterday I charged the batteries, dusted off the mower, and mowed.

No spring tuneup, no oil change, no dead leftover gas to dispose of, no fuss muss or bother.

I lost my last three gas mowers to intractable but still costly carburetor problems and that will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

Highly recommended, 10/10. Would do it again but I don't have to.

Six years ago I dug up my back garden and put a hybrid artificial lawn over it that lets water run through but doesn't need mowing.

Since then all I've done is spray for weeds once a year and brush leaves clean.

Highly recommend not mowing grass, 10/10.

I'm a huge gear head and I absolutely love hearing a motor scream... but man the electric tools have really changed my mind about stuff.

Lawnmowers, leaf blowers, ect. should all be electric now. The lack of noise while doing yard work is almost a bigger factor than the lack of maintenance.

I'm sad, I paid like $450 on an aluminum frame Toro mower thinking it would be one of the last mowers I ever buy... Every single year I have to fight with the carb to get it running. I also every single year drain the tank and carb, fill with TruFuel, run for about 10mins before storing all my gas powered tools... Still deal with this crap.

Another day of intense editing, now doing a korean wannabe of Spy x Family.

I thought I would cut a lot of my time by performing new tricks I envisioned, but a small mistake increase a lot the edits necessary: i had to use the software to automatically remove the silences, but turn out I just noticed they were too big to be unnoticed, so Im having to manually trim each silence while fixing the subs and images.

That is a lot of work, so lesson learned.

Maybe I can publish it tonight still. Im kinda optimistic with this one because I added a couple of common knowledge for those kinda of videos: a thumbnail that follows ongoing standards and starting with a hook for the first 30s.

Maybe Im heading for a work without any major beginner errors now. The techniques are steadly engraining in my head

EDIT: ugh… Capcut crashed. Im afraid to know how much Ive lost…

Some studies suggest 30,000 years ago. While I like those better they are still unverified.

Also what ever happened to foxes?

Also did we domesticate cats or did they domesticate us?

It was an easy win.

Less than one working day to send the first version for the client validation.

The outsourced team would take more than one sprint to get close of what the Copilot spat.

I would take months to reach the same thing by hand btw

Electric lawnmowers aren't quite, maybe a bit less decibel than a gas powered one but the frequency is apparently more annoying, in particular when they temporarily ramp up RPM cause the weed is a bit to high in some spots. At least one of my neighbors neighbors (the neighbor of one of my neighbors, intentional double!) complained.

The biggest drawback of electric lawnmowers imho is if the weed grew a bit to high you'll run out of power before the yard is finished, even with 4 battery packs (needs 2 to run). 2 weeks tops, and the longer you forgot about it the more of a pain it gets.

For a gas powered one this would be no issue, their biggest drawback is imho the gamble whether it'll run the first time after winter.

I've been doing 2 acres with a ryobi riding electric mower for close to a decade now, no recharge needed. About 7 years in, the factory battery capacity had degraded enough that I had to split it into two sessions so I replaced it with a LiFePo4 pack and now it's still got half a charge left after finishing.

I don't know if they offer larger packs for the push or walk-behind variants, but it's a matter of sizing the tool to the job more than electricity IMO.

How big a yard and what kind of batteries / mower?

I have a self propelled 40 w Greenworks. I mow ~ 3/8 acre. A freshly charged 5v battery will do the whole thing, a 4 v won't.

You most likely meant 5Ah vs 4Ah, for the nerds

(Voltage is effectively pressure, amperage is rate of flow allowed, so 5 Amp-hours would be 5 hours at a flow of 1 amp or 1 hour at a flow of 5 amps.)

The best part is literally every person i watch on YouTube has some annoying sponsored ad in the middle of their content. So I get ads regardless

(Voltage is effectively pressure,

Since you mentioned nerds, Voltage is potential. (probably most similar to Potenial energy in newtonian physics, i.e. you have more potential standing on top of a ladder than on just the first rung)

So an outlet is 110V but its only potential if nothing is actually plugged in. (it can do something but won't unless you make it, just like jumping off the ladder)

If anyone wants a simple analogy to visualize Ohm's laws:
picture a highway as a conductor (i.e. wire)
The cars are electrons.
Voltages is the number of cars between 2 points. (Volts)
Current is how fast the cars are moving. (Amps)
Resistance would be things causing them to slow down/congest (ohms) (lights, construction, accidents)
Power is a function of how many and how fast. (watts) (so many cars moving slower or fewer cars moving faster would generate a similar amount of power)

Of course the analogy breaks down in some ways and can't explain things like capacitance or inductance or transistor behavior etc...but hopefully gives someone a very loose idea how to visualize it and get through an intro to electronics class.

This post was brought to you by nitpicking and boredom.

Yeah. That's what I get for posting on my first cup of coffee.

And the mower is 40 v not 40 w. /blush
