Google also adds more parentheses.
(5 - 1 + (5 x 2)) + (20 / 2) = 24
Thats pretty much the same as the way it is taught here. 5 x 2 is in its own seperate bracket so worked out seperately and the answer added to the entire equation You can add more to simplify the equation but it is the same equation.
Meanwhile we're still using inferior everything else for numbers. You people and your damn pounds and oz! D: I don't really care, I use them interchangeably anyways.

'_' Our system isn't better, but it is easier. :x I like being able to brainless shift my decimal point from left to right as needed... working in 16ths is kinda a pain when it comes to conversions. You also get the odd scale here and there that displays oz as .xx of a lb instead of oz which is just annoying.
