I wasn't able to watch the debate, but it appears that the major news websites are unanimous in their belief that both Clinton and Sanders came off looking better after the debate, with the others seen as losing it. Sanders had many more Google hits, though, which plays big for him as the underdog.

O'Malley helped Clinton immensely in two attacks against Sanders. They attacked him against his gun control policies as well as his electibility as a socialists.

Best line of the night: "WE ARE NOT DENMARK"

Ehhh...I wouldn't call it an "attack". That might be over-exaggerating. Sanders and O'Malley were a bit critical of Clinton when the subject of Syria/Putin's aggression came around the bend. Sanders, Clinton and O'Malley were all pretty cordial to each other in comparison to the GOP debate. I could see Littlefinger-Carcetti as a running mate.

Webb's whining over time allotted at every turn was off-putting.

Clinton actually came off less robotic than usual, which was somewhat refreshing.

Speaking time is directly related to poll numbers, I'm sure the GOP debate bar graph looks the exact same. You have to make the most out of the time you are allotted. Scott Walker had the same problem.

No. Walker's problem was his backers, the Koch brothers, are totally pro imigration. He came out as anti immigration, they shut off his funding. He had no other source.

We need someone who isn't under the thumb of the donor class.

And we also need someone who isn't a democratic socialist (like the nazis). That's trump (and maybe Cruz).
Trump comes across more like the nazis than any democratic socialist does. He's the one screaming about how the problems in the US are caused by a certain demographic and they need to be removed from the country to make it better.

The amount of ignorance you project not only about trump by about the nazis is frightening.

Trumps references to illegal immigrant really aren't comparable to Hitlers references to the Jews at all.

Accurate comment. There is no reason to talk about trump, he isn't winning the nomination.

The sad part though, is the number of people who get behind that crap, still. Even more ironic when a lot of them go "herp derp Obama is a Commie!"

Speaking of Obama, it looks like he's keeping the troops in Afghanistan. I'm sure he'll catch flak for it, but it's a lose-lose situation over there and I have a hard time forming a set opinion on the matter.

I picture him playing chess and every time he touches a chess piece someone clears their throat and he pulls his hand back...

every time he ignored the throat clearing sound and moved a piece the worst possible thing happened....

so I think he is more than a little bit gun shy... but he has been pretending to think about his next move for so long even chris mattews is almost not buying it anymore....

That answer may vary by source, but from what I can tell training is their main focus. It appears that there will still be some special ops forces doing missions as well as some drone usage.

Yes, and? Anyone who watched realized that it was unfair. Are you saying that constantly yapping about it was productive use of the time he had?

He didn't just yap about it. He would begin answering and 20 seconds later Anderson Cooper would cut him off to go somewhere else, then Webb would say something. The entire format was designed to maximize Hillary Clinton's time.

Yeah that didn't happen. He was given speaking time he wasted it. The format for every debate is designed to give the candidates leading the polls the most time. The candidates that are trailing in the polls have to use their time to make an impact in hopes of garnering more time in the next debate. Worked perfectly for Carly Fiorina. Not so much for Webb.

Onward to the frothing, "Everyone who doesn't agree with me is a 'Libtard'!" part of the discussion.

Wow that escalated quickly.

It did happen. I saw Anderson do it to Webb twice. There were 20 straight minutes at one point where it went back and forth between Hillary and Bernie with Martin O'malley getting in simply to mention Hillary, which then by rule gives Hillary more time to respond.

No need to get nasty. I actually watched it.

Webb is being savaged by liberals online, in social media, by celebrities. There is no room for a moderate in today's Democrat party. It has been completely hijacked by the fringe far left.

They will vote for Gozer. She's whatever they want her to be.

Really? 20 straight minutes between the 2 leading candidates? Oh no, who would have thought that would happen? Only everyone that knows how debates work. Which clearly excludes Aman. Make sure to watch the next GOP debate where Trump stand in the middle, gets the most speaking time, followed by Carson and Fiorina to his left and right, getting the 2nd and 3rd most speaking time, respectively.

COOPER: Senator Webb, you said as president you would never have used military force in Libya and that the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was, in your words, "inevitable." Should Secretary Clinton have seen that attack coming?

WEBB: Look, let's start -- I've been trying to get in this conversation for about 10 minutes -- let's start with why Russia is in Syria right now. There are three strategic failings that have allowed this to occur. The first was the invasion of Iraq, which destabilized ethnic elements in Iraq and empowered Iran. The second was the Arab Spring, which created huge vacuums in Libya and in Syria that allowed terrorist movements to move in there. And the third was the recent deal allowing Iran to move forward and eventually acquire a nuclear weapon, which sent bad signals, bad body language into the region about whether we are acquiescing in Iran becoming a stronger piece of the formula in that part of the world.

Now, I say this as someone who spent five years in the Pentagon and who opposed the war in Iraq, whose son fought in Iraq, I've fought in Vietnam. But if you want a place where we need to be in terms of our national strategy, a focus, the greatest strategic threat that we have right now is resolving our relationship with China. And we need to do this because of their aggression in the region. We need to do it because of the way they treat their own people.

COOPER: Senator...

WEBB: And I would say this. I've been waiting for 10 minutes. I will say this.

COOPER: You're over your time as of now.

WEBB: I will -- well, you've let a lot of people go over their time. I would say this...

COOPER: You agreed to these debate rules.

I liked this part, the way Anderson Cooper changed the question to make it easy for Hillary.

COOPER: ...Do black lives matter, or do all lives matter? Let's put that question to Senator Sanders.

COOPER: Governor O'Malley, the question from Arthur was do black lives matter, or do all lives matter?

COOPER: Secretary Clinton, what would you do for African Americans in this country that President Obama couldn't?

Whats the problem? Oh I see, he didn't even answer the question. Didn't even think about it. The question was about Benghazi, and he is trying to talk about Russia. And Vietnam. And China. And he didn't even say anything, he waited all of 10 minutes to say nothing. Great job there.

And the second of only two times he mentioned time. Since you didn't actually watch the debate.

COOPER: We're going to talk about that in a minute.

But, Senator Webb, I want to get you in. You have said neither party has the guts to take on Wall Street. Is the system rigged?

WEBB: There is a reality that I think we all need to recognize with respect to the power of the financial sector.

And let me just go back a minute and say that on this TARP program, I introduced a piece of legislation calling for a windfall profits tax on the executives of any of these companies that got more than $5 billion, that it was time for them, once they got their compensation and their bonus, to split the rest of the money they made with the nurses and the truck drivers and the soldiers who bailed them out. With respect to the financial sector, I mean, I know that my time has run out but in speaking of changing positions and the position on how this debate has occurred is kind of frustrating because unless somebody mentions my name I can't get into the discussion.

COOPER: You agreed to these rules and you're wasting time. So if you would finish your answer, we'll move on.

WEBB: All right. Well, I'm trying to set a mark here so maybe we can get into a little more later on. This hasn't been equal time.

But if you want to look at what has happened, if we look at the facts in terms of how we're going to deal with this, since that crash, in the last 10 years, the amount of the world's capital economy that Wall Street manages has gone from 44 percent to 55 percent.

That means the Wall Street money managers are not risking themselves as the same way the American people are when they're going to get their compensation. They're managing money from all over the world.

We have to take that into consideration when we're looking at ways to regulate it.
