Probably gonna catch holy hell for this, but Sinead O'Connor has always been a powerful singer/songwriter to me and was a relatively heavy influence on my musical tastes while growing up. Helped me seek out the more defined, abrasive yet honest side of songwriting that doesn't hold punches in what is being expressed; both emotionally and musically. In fact I find the two to be quite parallel to one another if one is compelled enough.
