Limbus 2025
By Veydal1 2025-12-11 02:39:43
I haven't read too much on the fomor NMs pre-patch, but I noticed similar behavior on PLD. Sentinel didn't do anything. Neither did blocks. Didn't see any difference with low or high Defense. Rampart helped slightly, as did DT. However, I did not see a change specifically using PDT (expected based on Sentinel results) or MDT. Is it possible the auto attacks are breath damage? Or some other sort of non-elemental damage?
By Chimerawizard 2025-12-11 02:43:29
who is talking about Fomor or even Mannequins? That was sandworm, adamantoise & mantis.

Because fomors behaved the same way as them and came before. Hence it possibly being intended
Or i guess mannequins, i just call em fomors
By Chimerawizard 2025-12-11 02:52:36
was dynamis - beaucedine around prior to adamantoise? i thought it was the other way around. not gonna look through the history page for that stuff. so fine.
Regardless, it's not as if it was common knowledge that those 4 mob types behave similarly (which i'm still doubtful about).
By Nariont 2025-12-11 02:58:53
Im not saying the mob types do, its just some kind of limbus specific mechanic that has the NMs(of which we only had the fomors and now these guys) seem to have spirit type dmg on AAs and in fomor case WS as well, unsure about it applying to worm/mantis etc tp moves. Im assuming U/O + adds will behave similarly
tbf im also doubtful its intended at least to the level that it ignores block/pdt entirely, but its also a silly enough way to counter that and make counter/eva/blink tanking more reliable a method

It happened before.. and SE patched it before. It was not intended.
Resolved issues.
Quote: The issue in Limbus wherein the player still took some damage upon being attacked by certain notorious monsters, even when the player was invincible. Now, in this case this was only them patching the issue for Invincible, but to my mind it introduces a lot of room for this to all be bugged as ***when something that major is going on. Hopefully they'll address it all and not just invincible/sentinel related issues this time.

I was just a part of wave2 clear in Apollyon and I enjoyed it a lot. Required on the spot adaptation. There was initial chaos with the Wyrm. It flew in the air at 80% and started to kill everyone with Cyclone Wing. Mischief took it on the side and we focused on Dvergr, it was pretty easy, but Paralyze and Curse was annoying.
Vampyr was a problem when he was on the lose (Mischief bound it at start, but some JP guys hit it). Wings of Gehenna is a big problem if it hits many people including healers. Stun is very long. I haven't noticed Dread Spikes, but maybe we were lucky. It charmed someone I think and otherwise went down fast after it was properly tanked by PLD (Tappo).
Wyrm (Vrtra model) finally went back down and we were able to zerg it all the way without any more air time. Cyclone Wing was still annoying even with double carol.
I gave Mischief all the info I noticed during the fight, so maybe he will make some more detailed post later (he killed wave 2 Temenos too).

Limbus T2 NMs:
Everything moves at greatly enhanced movement speeds, but Bind lands on everything without issue by a geared RDM. Since they can all link with each other from across the entire zone, binding two and focusing one is the best way to handle them without an insane amount of deaths. A well-supported tank can also handle one in a corner if you can keep the other two off of them. Their auto attacks hit for 800-900 per hit regardless of defenses, and they use a TP move every ~15-20 seconds no matter how much TP they should have. Evasion tanking can still kind of work, but the threshold is much higher (RUN needed SV Mambos and Blind II to evade consistently) and they all have elemental attacks anyway. Shadow tanking with NIN might work better. If you focus one at a time, they'll fall pretty quickly if they're being properly tanked and the other two NMs are being held off. If the other two (or all three) are running around freely, you're going to die very quickly regardless of job or buffs.
Temenos:
NMs are Khryoskhimaira, Ironclad, and Mammet.
Khimaira casts -ja spells and can use all normal Khimaira TP moves + Fulmination at low HP%. Didn't see Lithic Breath. Fulmination spam can cause a full wipe, but maybe height differences in the zone can help block it? A well-supported RUN can also live through the spam long enough to finish it off.
Ironclad has all the normal TP moves except for Eradicator (or at least he didn't use it). Ballistic Kick, in particular, does ~2500+ damage and can kill large groups of people at once if he's running around firing it at max distance. Between that, Turbine Cyclone, and AoE basics, this guy is easily the worst of the three besides low-health Khim.
Mammet swapped between sword, staff, and polearm that I saw, preferring sword. He didn't use his physical absorb TP move or cast, but he used all other Mammet TP moves. Of the three, he's the easiest by far for a RDM to hold in a corner with Bind.
Apollyon:
NMs are Dvergr, Vampyr, and Wyrm (Vrtra).
Dvergr died really quickly and I was focused elsewhere so I didn't see much of what he did. From what others told me, he casts -ja spells and has normal Dvergr TP moves.
Vampyr has Decollation, Wings of Gehenna, and Bloodrake for certain. I was focused on the Wyrm at this point so I didn't see much of this, but apparently it kept Stunning everyone for long periods of time until a tank got control of it. It may or may not have the Vampyr Charm/Doom/Terror TP moves. Of note, Repose landed on this towards the beginning - Sleep/Repose might land on other things as well?
Wyrm has normal Vrtra TP moves (Horrid Roar, Absolute Terror, Cyclone Wing, Sable Breath, Spike Flail). Spike Flail's range seems to be limited only to directly behind him, but everyone behind him died the one time he did use it. However, at 80% he took flight and remained flying until the other two NMs died. While flying, he only ever did Cyclone Wing, which he spammed for 1500 unresisted damage and Sleep in normal Wing AoE. Naturally, this wiped a LOT of people until I got it under control and forced it to stay still long enough for the Vampyr to die. Dark Carols help a LOT with this and a RUN with SV Dark Carols can very easily hold it while flying. Bind kind of worked while flying, but it wore off frequently (maybe people were RAing it...). After the Vampyr died, it used Touchdown and didn't fly again the rest of the fight.
TL;DR Bind/tank two in a corner, kill the third, have Poison Potions/DoT gear ready for Wyrm. The hardest part by far is getting everything controlled without mass deaths. Not sure how feasible it's going to be to kill these NMs after the initial hype dies down, especially for lower pop servers...
Omega/Ultima require all 22 fomor NMs to die, 250 chest openings, and 2 ??? spawns. Time to finally figure out what exactly spawns Temenos' ??? I guess!

Am I just not awake yet, or maybe I'm overthinking, but did SE release content that will not be properly usable for two, maybe even three, months?
Were currently on blue boxes here and I know we had all the NM's killed before the 4 week rollover.

Posting what I know:
Condition 1 I think is tied to the opening of the chest in Both zones, this was the slowest objective to be completed on Sylph.
Condition 2 i believe for both zones is tied to the death of NM's and the ??? spawn.
Condition 4 in Temenos specifically was tied to the killing of Pixie's. A JP tweet posted about it. Found it true on Sylph. Only the east wing pixies were killed not Central so don't know if any pixie set counted.
Sylph has not seen anything other than the first group, which are at present, undeafeated.
On the NM's:
Legion style pulling, (Pull one, all will move to where the first was pulled.)
True Sight, True Sound, 29" Agro distance.
Their HP does not regen. (As expected honestly)
Set one of NM's by zone are: Apollyon:
Sandworm, Mantis, Adamantoise.
Temenos:
Alicorn, Ixion, Aern.
Set two: As seen from JP Twitter.
Apollyon:
Dragon(Jormungand, can fly), Dvergr, Vampyr
Temenos:
Ironclad, Khimera, Mammet ?(Mammet-19 Epsilon type thing.)
Though i cannot confirm the mammet was in the same set.
Edit: Seems i got Set two correct from posts here.

Doubt it. It's probably the same thing as last time: people misunderstanding the graphic because the colors/design is awful.
My prediction:
Only the last 4 weeks' result affects the chest.
If you killed W1 only, you get a Brown/gold chest.
If you killed W2 also, you get the Red chest.
If you killed W3, you get the Gold chest.
In the picture, this is the green box "total defeated", and the green box "treasure chest upgrade"
Then 4 weeks later, the same thing is evaluated. This is the blue boxes in the graphic.
Then 4 weeks later, the same thing is evaluated. This is the red boxes in the graphic.

I think we do its just more of a pain in Temenos.
Its a random mob type, that must be killed over and over until the NM pops and the NM drops the ???. Plenty of reports of NMs being killed but not dropping the ???.
In Temenos everyone focuses on the quick easier mobs near the port which leaves entire types of mobs neglected more often that Apollyon.

For Apollyon on Ragnarok, it seems like Objective 4 is Undead kills, and Objective 5 is Demons.
For Temenos, the objective seems to be Elementals, not just pixies.

The enemy types are chosen randomly and are not consistent across servers, so this question can't be answered.

Alternative thought to the 0/1. Maybe instead of getting the ???, its finding the mob that IS ITG instead.

So, I went out and poked around with a regular Limbus NM, in this case Totemic. These suckers are still, horrifically broken. SE may have patched Invincible not working, but they missed a whole lot more.
I'm not going to go into great detail here, this is kinda the cliff notes version. But pretty much everything I'm testing should make a huge, immediately obvious, difference in damage taken, so there's not really a great need for large samples and exact tests.
- Sentinel still does not work. Will take full damage through a fresh, relic enhanced, sentinel.
- Invincible does work. So that patch held.
- Rampart does appear to work. Took damage from 530~'ish to 360~
- PDT/DT does *** all. No visible difference in dmg between burtgang or not. Further, taking a hit naked only increased dmg by a sub 100 value. If DT had been working it should have doubled, at least(not to mention the DEF/VIT changes from stripping all gear)
- DEF is weirdly ineffective. Being Aegis Schism'd down to 500~ def(from 2,300+), made no notable difference. There might have been a change, but if so it was sub 100 dmg.
- Shield blocks do not work properly. There is a damage difference. But it looks more like -60 flat damage than it does -60 % damage.(Duban Stage 5, so normally a 60% reduction on block)
So, these NMs are still wildly broken, and in a way that massively *** over PLD. If PDT and blocks were working this thing would have been hitting me 70 a hit, not 550 a hit.

Thanks for reconfirming. Pre-patch, I thought I recalled seeing hits go from ~1k to 500s after stacking pure DT vs PDT/MDT specifically. But maybe I'm mistaken.
Hope they take another look at this, or at least confirm if this is working as intended.
On another note, have you guys seen BST or PUP actually summon their pets? I know SMN periodically calls them (unsure on conditions), but I have yet to see an Automaton or BST pet.

I'm not one to complain about content and updates, but oof... how are low population servers going to do this? I was already carrying my server through the first batch of NMs and eventually burnt out on it (now I don't think anybody is doing it?). I haven't yet attempted the new content (pesky life stuff in the way), but from the sounds of it, unless the reward is outstanding, I'm not going to be able to justify the time and effort to "solo" my way through this. I'm tempted to embarrassingly wait for others to figure it out, and determine if it's fun & if the gear is build-altering enough to warrant the attention it requires.
I hate to ***on a fun idea, because it is a fun idea, but I'm not sure how feasible this is. Would have been great circa 2005!

Looking at base armor sets some of the pieces are interesting? Seems on par-ish with unaugmented Odyssey gear when fully upgraded to the 3rd stage. Assuming they also get augments, could worth it a bit.
I didn't see a thread dedicated to new-new Limbus so here's one with some findings. I’ve continued to edit this post with new discoveries made throughout the thread.
For entrance and zone info, really the SE post is best:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/62862-June-10-2025-%28JST%29-Version-Update?p=667175&viewfull=1#post667175
Obtaining the Key Items / Units
Kill mobs to fill the bar in the upper left. Seems to take 6-15+ mobs per floor, this increases based on the chosen mob level and number of people in your party. You continue to get units as long as you want to sit there and keep killing and refill the bar, but at half the rate. Whether this is comparable to the units gained by continuing to move floors and finishing the event to get the chest bonus is up a function of your personal kill speed and group size.
Each Temporary KI looks like "Apollyon SE #1 data", and you get 1 per floor. You keep them until you open a chest and then they are all lost. You get a KI for filling up the bar at the top of the screen on each floor. I didn't count but I think it requires like 10 mobs per floor (this apparently varies by level choice). Once you get a KI, you should get to keep it even if you leave Limbus. You would lose any progress on any un-completed floors, but this is like 6-10 kills so no biggie.
You can enter any section / floor at any time. You don't need to go in any type of order or "climb" if you're missing one of the upper KIs from a run that got interrupted.
Once you choose a level (119-130), I think you need to keep that level choice until you open a chest. If you adjust it after getting some KIs, you might lose them. The NPC dialogue isn't too clear on this.
There were no direct drops from mobs, of any kind.
Mob Details
All the mobs seem to have pretty serious DT, probably 50% (confirm by Brixy as 50%, per Air Knife expected enspell dmg). But they aren't hard. They hit like 130s. AoE/Cleaving is extremely nerfed.
Pulling mobs is weird. Any initial spell cast before initial aggro / dynamic level adjustment may land, but will not remain on the mob. You will not see a message to reflect this.
If you pull with silence (while it's un-aggroed), it appears the silence instantly wears without any message, likely due to the dynamic-level adjustment which happens as soon as you aggro (credit to Moonlightagb for this theory, I think it's correct). Silencing twice is probably needed. This doesn't matter much in a party, but if you're solo and mob density is high this effect could be pretty annoying. Other examples later verified by others: If you pull with Immanence, the skill chain will not complete. If you pull with Dia, you can sleep right after.
Mob respawn is on the order of a few minutes but I was pretty lonely this morning. I had one floor with a couple groups and it felt faster, might be dynamic spawn rate.
Aside from the initial-aggro weirdness, everything can be debuffed and slept as expected. Sneak/invis work fine, but true aggro mobs remain like Imps and such.
Getting the goods
In order for the chest to open, you need to finish all of the zone, not just one section. So Apollyon zone is 18 KIs, Temenos zone should be 25 KIs. If the chest says "it won't open", you need more KIs. The chests are located at the exit of each "top floor" in each section. However, you can only open a chest once you have finished all the sections (NW,NE,SW,SE,etc).
After getting all KIs in Apollyon, each character had earned:
About 4000 units from killing mobs and climbing floors
3000 units from finding a shiny ??? on the ground and clicking it
3000 units (one character in the party got 5000 units, no idea why) directly from the chest
So each character of a 6-person party left a ~90 minute run with 10-12k units. EP was ~15k/hr, but this is ML50s fighting level 130s. Maybe it's better if you're lower.
My initial limit on Apollyon units was 30,000. After I opened the chest, that increased to 33,000. It looks to increase 3000 more with each chest open.
Apollyon Units are used to upgrade AF pieces to +4.
Temenos Units are used to upgrade relic pieces to +4.
The upgrade costs are:
Head: 20k units
Body: 30k units
Hands: 15k units
Legs: 25k units
Feet: 10k units
Once I got to 10k units, the furnace did allow me to trade a foot piece, though I didn't choose to complete the process. Trading any other slot did nothing.
I did get the title Apollyon Razer, which I think is just the same as the old title lol
