Numbers Just Don't Add Up

1. Anyone attempting to create automation for mass item trading to an NPC could have stumbled upon the dupe he found. I even considered making something for Aurix myself at one point. Maybe put in something wrong and suddenly notice that the NPC said it got 8x but when you validate inventory it shows only 1x was taken out. Completely and totally reasonable.
2. This one in particular could have been stumbled upon while attempting to find ways to speed up crafting.
Completely and totally plausible if you guys bother to think for more than 2 seco—-SQUIRREL
Again, not everyone sits around trying to think of ways to circumvent games or their mechanics. I realize the mindset of a cheater lends them to think everyone feels and thinks the way they do, but they just don't.

Everyone thinks of ways to circumvent games or their mechanics. Not everyone does so through third party programs. Have you ever seen an speedrun? Players are not keen to do things the intended, slow way.

Analogy is correct. Dont know what your problem is with it. If players can exploit something for an advantage, they will. Thats on the devs, not the players. Not all exploits are based on packet injections.

.... 1) TAS runs are official speedruns, and have their own separate board. TAS runs also influence speedruns and help immensely with making and improving routes.
2) Like i stated, not all exploits in 11 are packet related or require 3rd party programs. I dont think the devs intended players to pull whole zones and get 30 levels in >5 minutes back before abyssea existed. Hell, even back then you could PL someone 1-75 in a day if they had caps done.

If someone is trying to cheat and upload a run here when it's actually a TAS, then it will almost always be caught by a moderator because it's often very easy to see when a run has movement or inputs or strats that no human can pull off.

Many speedrun communities do approve them as official runs; they're just separate categories, akin to 100% runs vs any% runs or glitch runs vs glitchless runs.

TAS runs are shown off during speedrun competitions under TAS segments.... have you even watched one of these events? GDQ has streamed and literally posted numerous to their youtube channel.

The very fact that there are any means they are accepted as legitimate at that venue. Misrepresenting a TAS as a human played speedrun is a completely different issue, and has no bearing on whether TASs are considered legitimate in themselves.
Speedrun communities have similar bans on all attempts at misleading categories.

It is possible, I stumbled across it the other day. I'm not using personally, but you can force a break not to lose mats.
How do you keep "stumbling" across these nefarious game exploits? Do you literally spend most of your FFXI online time just writing scripting to try and cheat the game? Were you one of those kids who bragged about beating a game but used GameShark?
My name gets mentioned, and I was bragging. I honestly would have never seen this. Yes, actually; I do spend a lot of my time seeing what kind of stuff I can do. It's just fun to me; I don't know if you're aware though but it is only a game, you actually won't die or anything.
Edit: Also sometimes when you are messing with these thing a single character or data type can cause all kinds of unforeseen errors, it happens.

I don't completely disagree with you, and I understand what it was that made you think that I may have been doing such a thing but, I'm not doing anything currently or plan to be doing anything that should effect other players. You spoke directly to me so that's why I responded. I actually didn't even care to look in to the fact that my materials didn't vanish. I thought about it, but I don't really want to ruin things for everyone else so I decided to keep to myself. Can I do thing's that benefit myself? Absolutely; it makes my play experience fun.

Yes, and im sure you play the game 100% legit and dont use windower or ashita or anything. Hell, youre on ffxiah, which could be seen as non legit. Dont know why people try to play the "holier than thou" card.

This game has been paid to play for a very long time, agree or not. I just assume at this point everyone has bought gil. The fact competing RMT exist with the small playerbase just shows you how common gil buying is. It honestly baffels me that enough real money is made still to even be worth it.
The bigger question is why has SE not monitized this yet? I mean we are PAYING for inventory space.... literally have to pay to be able to hold your gear lol.
I would gladly have SE sell gil if it means I get my $4 for wardrobes a month back.

Why would they sell gil? RMT would sell it even cheaper, or they'd cut all RMT, and they'd lose a butt-ton of subscribers. They know what they're doing, do you see any of us going anywhere? Hell no lol. Most of us will be playing this until they shut the servers down. If they let RMT sell gil, they get their subscription money, and our subscription money. They got the best of both worlds at this point.

Monetizing gil buying isnt really worth it for them directly, as RMT do drive the economy in the dying game. Without RMT, you wouldnt have mats to synth with or upgrade items for most servers at this point.
Plus it boosts numbers to validate the game's existence.

Koh-I-Noor are still selling at 45-50M/stack by the same people. It is impossible to profit at this price without the exploit, so it is not patched yet.

Koh-I-Noor gems are now being sold in bulk at 45M/stack, buyers are buying 5-10 stacks each batch. Said buyer's sales history consists of infinite sales of Rostrams, Gandrings or other SU5 Dynamis weapons. There is no reason to buy these gems other than to craft and sell Stikini Ring +1 which are currently 30-35M/each.
Having done over 20,000 attempts (with 100% Koh-I-Noor loss on failure) to HQ Stikini Ring +1 myself, using all the available max goldsmithing skill/HQ enhancements with crafting shield, the cumulative HQ rate I got is 4%. Even if you supposedly run with double that HQ rate, or even 10% HQ rate, you are still losing 10M gil if you spend 45M on gems and get only 1.2 HQ rings in return. This is also assuming you somehow have an active Vagary bot that brings in an endless supply of dark matters.
All legit crafters already know that it's impossible to profit off dynamis weapons +2 without some sort of never-ending duped medals supply, so my conclusion is that there is some sort of packet exploit to force the server to re-roll or cancel the synthesis before 'end synth' packet is sent, or perhaps send a special ID which forces no-mats loss, similar to when fixing Lu Shang's broken fishing rod.
