Mboze has an auto attack that drains HP. That's probably what moved him from 99% to 100% the first time.

This is really insightful and I'm inclined to believe you! Unfortunately, I have no occurrences in my logs of MBoze draining HP from anyone, as an added effect from his hits. I don't have filters on, so is this just not visible to us in the logs? Could this be a form of HP recovery that only discernable from a visual cue, like say Drain Spikes (but without the text indicator)?

Yes, I did read the BGwiki page before/after posting to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I haven't gotten permission from folks to post the logs, but the only TP moves MBoze did from the first P.Ooze onward was Potted Plant and 90 seconds later: Uproot. None which would explain his HP Increase from 99 back to 100% right after ooze landed.

Since I don't see any of the TP moves (or drain effect/auto-attacks that you can Sterk mention, I am leaning towards: MBoze having an innate Regen and that maybe Dia 3 was not applied at the start of the fight?

Does this sounds plausible?

Those 1st 3 moves are just auto-attacks not actual TP moves..

https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Yggdreant

Basic Moves

Branch Poke: Single-target Element: Dark darkness-based Breath Damage breath damage that drains HP proportional to damage dealt.
Branch Sweep: Conal physical damage and -50 Evasion Down.
Branch Spin: Conal physical damage and Stun effect.

Holy ***, it never occurred to me that there was a base Yggreant enemy/page to use as a reference. I thought it was just a WKR/Delve/Odyssey variant of an NM that we would all informally call "The Tree". Hah, thank you!

Does opening a chest with thief tools contribute towards progress for reducing the Izzat cost on opening chests?

Yes, as long as you don't get a Mimic.

Yes, the izzat discount is just "total" opened chests, logged the Pilgrim Moogle. Includes picked chests

On a similar note, does anyone know the reduction rate on UMN pop items in Odyssey?

I don't remember pop items being reduced by higher moogle mastery levels.

The lower floors do require fewer pop items than higher floors though, again dont remember specifics.

The UNM material discount isn't tied to Moogle Mastery (at least not directly). You get a discount for every x number of NMs you pop/kill. I couldn't tell you what the number was per floor, but back when Odyssey first came out, it was a really high number of mats the higher up you went.

Here's a comment from 2020 in this thread from me (Sheol A):

Floor 5 I was not able to pop the Fly NM with 15 Unity mats. This was after clearing a fetter and NM on both 1 + 3

Some of the other surrounding comments say similar things, not being able to pop an NM with like 24 mats (I recall this from early on A7). I would have to go into A7 now to tell you what my material cost is, and then check my NM count with the Pilgrim Moogle and then reverse math to figure out the logic. But I'm fairly certain it's something like: total amount of NMs popped, reduced every x by %. Just unsure what x/% is.

Ah yes, sorry I wasn't clear. I was aware that it was unrelated to MM, but I understood that as you pop nms using unm items, the cost on the higher floors goes down. I recall someone (here I think) talking about getting sheol A's floor 2 and 3 pops down to a single item over time. So I was just wondering if the rate at which this occurred was documented anywhere.

I never discovered the rate and don't recall it being documented as to the formula. FWIW, my material cost on all Sheols is 1 mat on floors 1-3. In C I recall it's 2 mats. But I don't know if it's reduced by every 5 NMs, every 10, or what.

For me in C it's 1 mat for F1-F3 and 5 mats for F4. Currently working on increasing MM in A/B and the unity mat cost sure is painful right now.

Do you have all NMs killed 9 times? I don't have any kills on the Hydra/Khim/Adamantoise so I'm wondering if that's a requirement in hitting 2 mats on F4. My F4 cost has been 5 mats for a long time.

Still can't tell if it's tied to Moogle Mastery directly, even though you do need 9 kills of each NM for that last tier of the MM.
