Am I the only one who despises Domain Invasion?

Domain Invasion was such a poorly thought event in my opinion.
Nothing like WKR which were moderately fun back in the days. There were some drawbacks there as well but overall I kinda enjoyed WKRs, I can hardly see Domain Invasion being entertaining for anyone.
They chose to take 3 old Wyrms which by itself is a good thing, but they didn't think how annoying keeping all their old moves would be for what was supposed to be an Escha-version WKR.
And let's not talk about the adds and how much they can *** you up in an event where you're bound to either have too many people (not allowing you to use strategies involving Crowd Control) or not enough people with the right jobs (meaning no way to AoE them down fast).
You can get Terrored, all your buffs stripped, Charmed, they can fly and last but not least there's Spike Flail.
I mean, seriously? How did they even think that could've possibly evolved into an entertaining low tier event for players?
Who the *** is behind game-design when they make these choices?
/rant over
Eh, I never have much issue if there's a ton of people. The issue is it doesn't scale down when there's low-man. Though it seems either the last campaign of an update I missed somewhere seemed to scale adds with number of people fighting as only 1-2 Peistes would pop if only 2-3 were fighting Quetz last month.

i have np doing Naga Raja on pup. hell most time i farm silt on that guy now getting like 35k-50k silt in 30 mins.
pop the fully tank pet.
use every trust that got the aoe cure Ability.
put crap load of pdt gear on, and have koru trust spam Phalanx. and fight on the side while pet face to face.
with that you would be fine. when link pop, go for the links it builds your points up fast for more silt. also i sub /sch so i wont be put to sleep much just incase sleepga, now the others 2 NM can be done also but it very annoying with the aoe dmg sleep etc. risky but can be done.

Don't flail the *** dragon unless your the only one there. You basically MPK everyone who isn't in your party because not everyone is running around with a real healer. Trust recasts are too long and it flails too often to just resummon them. All you do is guarantee everyone else dies and then you die shortly afterward because it's still TPing too fast because others are hitting it.

Scaling has been a thing for some time, not sure if from the beginning but it has been for a while.
There's a certain number (fixed) of adds that spawns according to the number of players engaged. Or... number of parties, I dunno.
Someone claimed Trusts to count as "players" but they don't. On Azi Dahaka wether I was solo or with 5 Trusts only 1 Dragon was popping.
As soon as some friends got there the number multiplied, just to make an example.
I think there's an upper limit on the adds that can spawn, after which bringing more players (or parties?) won't of course increase the number of adds.
Nothing else scales of course and I don't think FFXI has a dynamic scaling system like other MMOs.
The stats for scaling stuff in FFXI gets decided the moment stuff pops, their stats do not get dynamically adjusted after that moment, afaik.
With a lot of people they're usually not an issue for me either (but still not fun because they just get boring/laggy etc, at least WKR had some interesting mechanics/things to do)

I don't mind Domain Invasion as an event, but in general, I don't enjoy the idea of having to do any content hundreds of times to see it's potential rewards (with the exception of ultimate weapons and currency integration, I actually feel that helps maintain an economy and give long term goals that are 'worthwhile')
There are people out there who have memories of camping Fafnir, I imagine it occupies a significant portion of their FFXI remembrance, yet I would wager the vast majority of people with those memories didn't kill old Faf' 50 times, let alone hundreds of times. The repetition, NM / Event wise, has gotten really absurd, even if Joe-Blow can just walk-on-in and participate.
I do however feel they could have easily consolidated WKR (a very similar event) with domain invasion and allowed both to drop beads and bayld, as well as benefit from the WKR specific items (homestead weapons, Adoulin neck reward etc). Bead farming as it stands now is a drag, and WKR needs all the help it can get. It'd almost make sense to force them to pop in a rotation where only one could be up at a time; ensuring the general populace would get a chance at clears just by following the train. Allowing the dragons to drop items to 'upgrade' the 115 WKR gear would have also been a really cool boon, even if it took a ton of attempts. I'd love a 119 version of the augment-able WKR sword, or 119 version of that hawt fisherman cap.
Lies! xD
This baby took me a year and a half to get, but that's due to camping against a bunch of other HNMLS's.
Cheers to WhirlingWind, PaiMei, YourFantasy, CatoHNMLS and Highpower for making our lives miserable in Dragon's Aery! :) I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

To be honest the differences between this is and WKRs are part of the problem. WKRs kinda sucked, but they worked partially because of the fact that if you didn't want to fight the boss you could kill adds as your sole source of activity and you'd still do really well. Adds were all over and constant, and at the same time, you could pull the boss away from the adds so that if low-manning it you never had to worry about them. They were also designed to be a lot less painful even with their OP abilities because normally inescapable "Fk you" attacks didn't really exist, and even the ones that did were easy enough to prep for, such as Timber.
What's sad is I think 1 thing could be done that would make a huge difference and could quite possibly help this content a ton, and that's just if we could be in a party with other players and get evaluations the same way as you do with trusts. Imagine being able to fight Quetzalcoatl with a WHM in party who has poison pots, keeping themselves, and the party, awake. Imagine their curaga hit other players and made it possible for everyone to keep on going.
It may not be a perfect fix to everything, but certainly some parts of it would feel less BS, and it might actually get more people doing it since farming silt with some friends doing dragons might become a thing people do more often. I personally have only 20k Silt and I've barely done anything Escha, I'd love to farm silt, but the infuriation of these things isn't worth it. If I could be in a party with friends though, or better yet, and alliance? I'm sure it'd be much more enjoyable.

360 is absurd. Once people get to that mark (Hai2uJP), people stop doing them because of the huge grind it was in the first place. The only exception to this is farming beads, and even then, I rarely see people killing them. Must be a Cerberus thing.
Things weren't any different on Asura when I transferred over a month ago, but that first DI campaign that grounded the wyrms had large groups bouncing back and forth between Naga and Azi. That fervor settled down a few days later and the attention's shifted to Quetz and Naga now that we're between campaigns. I've been getting my Azi kills mostly solo on my gimp BLU since I'm a glutton for punishment, 20 more and I'll have all three wyrm vorseals at rank 11.

Damn don't know who you were back in Cerberus 2006, but those LSs you listed made me nostalgic from wayback.
Shoutouts to 2016 WhirlingWind.
I mean, I hate this content with a fking passion. No parties, Trusts are better. Few people seem to do it. The NMs are shit to solo because of things like Horrid Roar. The Reisenjima mob spams AoE sleep so unless you've a ton of people fighting it, enjoy being asleep 100% of he time.
I can't stand this ****, but I also can't complain about it on the OF due to my perma-ban from years ago. Just want to know if I'm alone in my hatred of it.
