Final Fantasy Explorers - Megathread
By Clinpachi 2016-01-31 12:18:11
Jesus 7 Star quests take a step up big time I think I'll actually have to upgrade gear now lol.
I hit 7 star last night too and I'm finally starting to struggle. Aberrant Dryad wiped the floor with me 2 times in a row before I got frustrated enough to stop for the night. I'm going to need my group badly for that one, she is VERY difficult solo if you have to be in melee range. Her poison is 400-500 damage a tic and it feels like it will fully kill you from 5000+ HP.
I very much dislike Dryad......... Demolished aberrant Dryad. Chakra'd the poison off as soon as I got it then continued to beat the hell out of her lol.
Now here comes the problem. Aberrant Phoenix, as MNK I can't reach her >_> DAMN YOU TINY ARMS!
It's funny because I have that problem with Leviathan lol. My abilities with sword seem to reach Phoenix ok.
It's interesting how different jobs are CLEARLY better to bring to different things. I see now why they included a loadout screen so you can mix and match for whatever situations that arise.
This game didn't get nearly the reviews it deserves. After 6 star I'm pretty challenged even WITHOUT adding star difficulty.

Ranger is pretty great for things like Phoenix and Dryad (though I'm not to 7 star yet). Rarely get hit by their larger attacks... but they just love to fly/dig right out of range so a lot of the fight is still running back and forth so I can actually shoot them.
One of my static party members is a Hunter and he can seem to run around and do everything solo completely fine. Seems to be a great solo job with nice damage output.

Yea the running around is perfectly doable. Just an annoyance, but yea, pretty easy to solo as ranger too.
By Clinpachi 2016-01-31 12:39:47
You don't ever run into AP problems from running around? That's the only thing I imagine sucking a bit. I'm always stressing my paladin AP out from chasing the damn boss when it starts warping around.
By Ackeron 2016-01-31 13:23:56
Get the Thief's Anklet till you get an AP augment on it. It helps A LOT.
I now never run out of AP so long as I can land a few hits in. Also Augmented my Magitek Lodestone with Absorb AP it restores 1k+ per enemy hit lol.

You don't ever run into AP problems from running around? That's the only thing I imagine sucking a bit. I'm always stressing my paladin AP out from chasing the damn boss when it starts warping around. When that happens I just pop off a few combos of normal attacks and it comes back fast enough. Or I'll time my trance to have it go off right when my ap runs out.

-_-; The 7* quest called the ultimate battle............ you kidding me with this crap lol?
I have to kill any 2 eidolons. Cool. Go to fight Ifrit. Realize that it's LOCKED to triple HP and strength. If I *** up and fail to block ONE move, it will one shot me. I fought him for 40 minutes before I was finally able to kill him with a level 50 black knight pet.
40..... freaking..... minutes....
They only give you 60 minutes. He had SO MUCH HP. I'm calling shenanegins. I just exited immediately after he went down. No way to do pheonix or any other one (especially after running all the way there) in under 20 minutes.

-_-; The 7* quest called the ultimate battle............ you kidding me with this crap lol? Yeah I saw that one. Nope. Probably could do it though just would need some decent damage.
Dryad > Alex would be a good combo I think since they are super easy.

I hate dryad more than any of them honestly. It's difficult being a Paladin because you have no choice to be all up in their business. I have absolutely no ranged attacks and am dependent on blocking and countering.
Alexander would be good though, I've never had much difficulty with him (famous last words lulz).

I'm a Thief, with crazy AP drain, and my "Flee" (Greased Lightning) has Haste 13 and...
yeah I get to bosses really fast and never run out of AP like ever haha.

Finally got to a point where I didn't already have all the items I needed to make the newest armors and I need to look up where to get some of them. This is a game now!

So hey, this seems more lively than the BG thread atm so I figure i'll toss a question here.
You can change Ability names which is cool... Can you change your Armor and weapons names at all?

Doesn't look like it, same with monsters sadly.

This is the website someone on the FF Explorers Discord made. It's a database of every drop in the game. Still WIP, but it also includes how the items are dropped.
I added some drops to the list too!

I added some drops to the list too! THANK YOU! Been farming Ifrit for Infernal jems ... Turns out it's from Diablos >_>
Trying to gear our a ranged job. Figured an Artillery Machinist might be cool lol.

So if it is just listed as a drop, that is what you get for killing the enemy and I assume [parts] means you have to damage certain body parts on an enemy (I noticed I seemed to have broken a leg on Alex once).

This might be "common knowledge" now, but if you venture out on your own without a quest active, you can still go and randomly take down Eidolons. Just went to Ifrit and solo'd him on Ranger and lucked out with a rare drop (I think?) Blazing Magethyst.
It's kinda fun.

Well it took to 7* to perform my first rage quit and be done for the night lol. This defeat any 2 eidolons with triple HP and strength is exceedingly difficult on paladin. I'm not doing enough damage and using 1 300 load pet might not be good enough. Might need to look into a new monster team of 3 100 loads.

1 Centurion and 1 Magic Pot. (DPS + Healing)

I'll probably give that a shot when doing my next set of material farming in free roam.
The frustration is real right now lol. Black Knight was so OP but now he just can't cut it anymore :'(

So far the best pets for early game are Cactuar, Ahriman, and ???
I've been using Land Turtle and it uses a Protect type spell, which is good, but I could stand to use something with a little more ranged offense. Any suggestions?

So the drops on either of those sites are not complete. I just got a Diluvial Magethyst off Fenrir, which is nice because I was going to have to walk across the map to Shiva to get one and saved me a trip, but I had no idea I could get it from him.

Welp, got the game last night, played for a few hours. For something so simple, its addicting lol
Only complaint so far is how dead the online is :/ Went to check for a room to farm Fulmacite because I figured 4 people could make it faster. Zero Ramuh rooms. Open my own, sat for about 45 mins with not a single person, so I close the room, go to search any room, only found like 6 rooms, all filled with 1-2 people...
I mean, yeah, it's only been about a week since release? But you'd think with the FF name on it and how it was hard to find one in stock, that there'd be a ton more people actually doing stuff online.

I.... was not even aware that you could browse or make rooms....
I mean we had a group of 4 tap dancing around like idiots for up to 2 weeks before the release date and kept talking about it daily though. That's interesting lol.
You've gotta figure though that people either already have friends to play with via friend list, or people generally aren't that bright and the general population isn't that far yet.
Playing XI generally means you're a step above the rest in learning/familiar things or expectations for a game like this.
If you check the first post, a nintendo friend code link was setup. Try adding people from here. If nothing I could help sometime when my group isn't on.
