Iroha makes a big deal about your "clone" having Excalibur, and noting only a single person in this time period has it, which seems to heavily imply the player character, as there are no other owners in the current time period. The caveat is that she says this even for players without Excalibur, leading me to believe we're either gonna get a REM reward, or drowning in REM with the KI reward from the end of RoV to keep it consistent. It wasn't a clone of the player. The wielder of Excalibur is a male Elvaan whereas my character is a male Hume. I think the point is the wielder of Excalibur is supposedly a possessed adventurer from that future who got the sword at some point in time, just like how we can get it. So you can think of him as another adventurer who completed the quest and obtained the sword or somehow, took it over from another adventurer. Story-wise, there is only one Excalibur, so even if the player actually has the sword, it can be assumed that in the future, the character of the player could have given it up to someone else or lost it somehow and someone else could have claimed it.

I had an idea but it's probably not gonna happen.
Since this game uses the job switch system that was first introduced in FF5, wouldn't it be cool if the future you that appears in one of the last cutscenes in RoV chapter 2 would be one last job?
In FF5 you could mix up any two jobs and get ridiculously overpowered characters. Why not do the same for FF11? That way everyone could probably solo (or low-man) most things in the end.
But maybe to make things not TOO crazy it could be the same as in Monstrosity:
1) Two jobs, but only JA's from the main.
2) Any (merit) traits and spells from either job do carry over.
3) HP/MP and stats merged from both jobs.
4) As an extension (since job points don't work in Monstrosity) you'd get the gift bonusses from only your main.
Plus, it's an extra job you can level (not that it would take very long).
Just my 50 cents. I think it would be a great nod to the game that gave us the job switch system that FF11 is praised for.

- Completely unlock merit category caps (I expect we'll get this from one of the pre-finale rhapsody KIs, actually).
Here is what they said about merit categories, so it will not be that.
Quote: We increased the cap for the attributes, combat skill, and magic skill categories making it possible to boost your character even more.
While we have been receiving feedback asking for an increase to other categories, unfortunately we are not able to increase categories other than HP/MP due to the merit point system.
They said they weren't able to do X for reason Y or Z, countless times.

That is a good idea. It could be a master of all trades type of job, sort of like mimic but with more control such as ability to equip JAs, spells etc. like how BLUs pick their spells. I would name it Champion of Altana (COA!) and give it some unique TP moves as well. It would open up crazy (and also probably very cheap) strategies but the game balance is already out of the window in many regards so most people wouldn't worry about that anyway.

Personally, I think it would be badass if the reward was just to unlock the latent effect on Foolkiller.

It probably wouldn't be too far fetched to say that a trust of some kind will probably be on the reward list.

Probably trust: Iroha. Not Altana but who knows.

Well you never know....
Don't forget in chapter two we were looking for a way to meet/talk to Altana. Didn't it also say in chapter 1 that the player character was made into a God?

"Trust Cipher: You" possibly as the ultimate reward?
You've been cloned at least three times now in XI, so why not? Just loads an AI based on the job you're on at the time, and copies the same gear / lockstyle, just like ACP / WotG.

They were pretty clear about it being us from a future point in a possible timeline. In the present and future, either no one or ourselves canonically possesses Excalibur. They just wanted to pick an iconic legendary weapon for the cutscene that everyone understands that there is supposed to be only one of. If we don't already have it, then we're just supposed to understand that we get it eventually (much like how we eventually go to the Far East...)

Well, they did promise us an entirely new area for the November release. My bet is Reisen Island.... and that's all of the Far East we'll ever see in-character.

LOL well that pretty much sums up what we're getting as scenario-rewards, then...
tessera saio and Excalibur for everyone! ^o^;; It's pre-ordained by immutable fate! ^^
Don't like them? You only have your (future) self to blame for such horribly bad taste! :p
Already have them? Too bad, but good job in actualising the future! Make sure to get the dinner jacket and dinner hose ready for later on, too! :p

I find it mildly amusing that Tessera Saio and Excalibur cannot both be equipped by the same job. Just sayin'.

We have lockstyle, so our future selves should have it too.

You missed the main point though. It was an Elvaan who uses Excalibur and my character is not an Elvaan.

That would have been funny if they required everyone to get a REM weapon in order to have that player possess it for the CS.

Onion Knight!
Thought crossed my mind, at the end of every expansion we got a pretty badass reward for the most part (rajas rings from CoP things like that) and thought "what would the reward from the story line to end all story lines be like?" Seeing as how its the final expansion and the culmination of all the others it will have to be some epic stuff, maby a voucher for 1 free 119 E/R/M or and item from the game(tartarus platemail for instance). Wonder what other ppl think we might get.
