Obama threatens to veto now that Congress works

Quote: According to him, only if the liberal wins all the time.
Evidence to prove this: His own rants about the LA 2014 Senate race.
This is what I really don't get.... people have spoken and elected who they wanted to elect. It was a fair and open election, and one that wasn't between two extremist's. Both are fairly moderate when compared to the rest of the nation. It's like these people actually believe, as in religious level belief, that anyone who disagrees with them or doesn't do things their way is somehow defective. With that level of close mindedness no wonder the Dems are losing favor, they have become their own religion. Hopefully they get some moderate folks setting their platform and stop trying to cram progressive ideology down everyone's throats.
I mean ... do the liberals actually think that an election system where they are the only party on the ballot and automatically win is the way to go? Are they seriously thinking we should implement Iran's or North Korea's election system where only the politically correct answer is available?
Well, an election system that favors one demographic is the same issue they took with voter ID laws and the same issue that conservatives took with overly generous absentee and early voting laws. Everyone is out to change the game in their favor. The problem with LA's run-off system is that it's almost never necessary and strongly discourages independent candidates. It's also not just liberals in LA who dislike 50%+ laws or liberals in general, many conservatives dislike them because it adds unnecessary cost and time to an already disgustingly costly and time-consuming process that doesn't lead to better representation and discourages voter participation.
Why does their election system favor one demographic?
It favors older people who have free time and discourages younger people from voting even the first time. That heavily favors republicans.
I keep hearing this argument, but I don't understand I guess. Is it that hard to get and ID and take the time out of a day.. maybe two different days "in the event of a run-off "to go and vote for someone? I mean damn, you can vote by mail now! lol

It favors older people who have free time and discourages younger people from voting even the first time. That heavily favors republicans. The LA system actually encourages the type of polling system some people want, which is the ability to vote for more than 2 candidates.
There will be a two party system in America, that's not going to go away anytime soon. But the LA system takes the two party system and allows their voters to choose between multiple candidates who are running for a position, and if one of the can overwhelmingly rise above everyone else (aka more than half of the state agrees to elect a specific person), then there wouldn't need to be a runoff between the top two candidates.
Enu is mad that his horse wouldn't have won under the "normal" system anyway, because it would have been Landrieu vs. Cassidy on the ballot in the first place, and Cassidy still won!

Only it wasn't removed, it was changed. Big, Huge, Gigantic, difference.. Also, if you actually do pay any attention to P&R the few others start the trolling long before I come in 99% of the time. I would LOVE to be able to have conversations on this forum without the total B.S. they start.. But given they are never punished and continue to do it I figured... If you can't beat them join them. If you want to have a legit conversation then stop joining them and do it. Now is your chance.
I'm gonna hold you to this.

I'm gonna hold you to this. Mods only come here if people cry report other people. Most of the time, they don't give a flying *** what the topic is, they just want the bitching to stop.
Yeah, it's usually the same people who are bitching all the time, and it's really everyone's fault (mine included). That's why they generally don't issue bans until the bitching is taken out of P&R and into other threads.
There are exceptions to the rule, and it usually pertains a certain mod, but that's the general idea.

So its a Thursday? Do you normally change peoples posts because of trollish remarks because if you do, not only do you have your hands full in P&R but I'm surprised anyone even frequents this site.
I have never reported anyone for anything btw. I just try and defend myself from the trolls on this site. Its a lot easier to defend against the trolls if you post the way they do.

Yep, here I am, probably because your OPINION can't be backed up by facts.

Actually it can, if I could quote where you brought something to a conversation that I was involved in on this site I would. However, such a thing does not exists and that is a fact.
All you do is post impertinently and claim victory. Anna cannot even change your posts because she has nothing to work with.

Some of us actually try to have a reasonable discussion about politics (and to the extent, religion) on this website. I know I do. Since when?
Ok, in fairness, you do actually make arguments. They're regularly based on fictions and distortions, but they're not image macros. But the ***-storm that follows whenever you post eventually needs to stop being internally justified via a Nixon-esque enemies list and replaced with becoming self-aware.
Here's a free one: If you want to have a reasonable discussion, whipping out your victim card the first time someone responds to you and using the word "liberal" as a deadly insult are not aspects thereof.
Copy/paste this post to probably half a dozen other people I'm feeling too lazy to name-check right now, with the word "liberal" changed to "conservative" as necessary.

So funny the people that are most likely to play the victim card are coming in trying to say others do it.. hahahahahaha And I'm the one who got called out on being trollish! hahahaha. Only on FFXIAH.com folks!

You just summed up your entire membership in 4 opinions.

Which would also be an unsubstantiated opinion. Clued in yet?
By Altimaomega 2015-01-01 21:39:53
Clued in that Anna apparently has a problem with some of my trollish comments but gives you and others a pass. Yeah, that fact is becoming abundantly clear the past page and a half. Please keep going though its quite amusing.

This thread is a victim of Altima's rhetoric.
You guys might as well argue about whose *** is bigger and still none of you would settle with an answer even if the evidence is placed right in front of your faces.

Obama threatens to veto bills passed by Congress, now that he can't use Reid to stop bills in the Senate
Quote: Warning from President Barack Obama to congressional Republicans: I have a veto pen and, come January, I won't be afraid to use it.
Since taking office in 2009, Obama has only vetoed legislation twice, both in fairly minor circumstances. But with Republicans set to take full control of Congress next year, Obama is losing his last bulwark against a barrage of bills he doesn't like: the Senate.
"I haven't used the veto pen very often since I've been in office," Obama said in an NPR interview airing Monday. "Now, I suspect, there are going to be some times where I've got to pull that pen out."
He added: "I'm going to defend gains that we've made in health care. I'm going to defend gains that we've made on environment and clean air and clean water."
Obama's notice to the GOP came as he sought to set the tone for a year in which Congress and the president are on a near-certain collision course. Buoyed by decisive gains in last month's midterm elections, Republicans are itching to use their newfound Senate majority to derail Obama's plans on immigration, climate change and health care, to name a few.
To overturn Obama's veto, Republicans would need the votes of two-thirds of the House and Senate. Their majorities in both chambers are not that large, so they would still need to persuade some Democrats to defy the president.
But Obama said he was hopeful that at least on some issues, that won't be necessary, because there's overlap between his interests and those of congressional Republicans. On that point, at least, he's in agreement with incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
"Bipartisan jobs bills will see the light of day and will make it to the President's desk, and he'll have to make decisions about ideology versus creating jobs for the middle class," McConnell said in response to Obama's comments. "There's a lot we can get done together if the president puts his famous pen to use signing bills rather than vetoing legislation his liberal allies don't like."
Potential areas for cooperation include tax reform and global trade deals — both issues where Obama and Republicans see at least partially eye to eye. Conversely, the likeliest points of friction surround Environmental Protection Agency regulations, the Keystone XL pipeline and Obama's unilateral steps on immigration, which let millions of people in the U.S. illegally avoid deportation and get work permits.
In the interview, recorded before Obama left Washington earlier this month for his annual Hawaii vacation, Obama also offered his most specific diagnosis to date of why Democrats fared so poorly in the midterms. He said he was "obviously frustrated" with the results.
"I think we had a great record for members of Congress to run on and I don't think we — myself and the Democratic Party — made as good of a case as we should have," Obama said. "And you know, as a consequence, we had really low voter turnout, and the results were bad."
