Been waiting forever for this. I'll buy a psv only to play this game, I craved it since before its japanese release! Emulator is free
which is also essentially stealing from sony and SE. sure you wont get caught but it all boils down to if you have morals or not. call it subjective all you want, it is how it is whether you have no respect for the companies or you think you can personally justify stealing for entertainment. sucks to buy a console for one game though pirating isn't stealing, get over yourself in your ignorant false moral high ground.
Grow up and realize that licensing is a sham, and has gotten way beyond it's original purpose.
Doing a translation of this game for areas that it's not available is in the spirit of innovation, and they're not profiting off it. Grow up.
haha i should grow up for considering pirating the only means of profit for a companies work stealing? So if you build sheds for a living its ok to steal a shed from you?
By Jetackuu 2014-03-09 13:59:41
If you can clone a shed I make without depriving me of the original, clone all the damn sheds you want.
But your comparison is not the same with our current restraints on reality and our physical dimensions/technology.
Copying data isn't stealing, you're not depriving anyone of anything.
I'm telling you to grow up because you have an elementary idea of numerous things, and like to insult people on the internet for no reason other than to sound "cool" and have a misplaced sense of superiority.

Your example is that of stealing profit from a company that is not selling the product you're supposedly stealing. It would be like stealing candy from Toyota, dude.

I could get into the fact that I could hash a file and recompile the file entirely based on it's hash, without ever doing anything else, but such a concept would be lost on somebody who doesn't understand such simple constructs as copying a file doesn't make the original vanish.

If the game is good I'll buy it, but these *** haven't released a translated version yet so I can't and I'd honestly rather play it without ***voices in a dub. JRPG dubs are terrible.

It would be like bitching at Drac for downloading shows he can't watch by any other means in his country.
If you want to reduce piracy: then make your products cheaper and available for everyone to have easy access to. People will get products the easiest way they can the majority of the time.
But to be blunt: you can stop piracy about as well as you can stop people from drinking alcohol.
edit:(If I posted this a few seconds earlier, I'd have thought I'd summoned him...)

Look hippy... with this specific scenario aside, that being type-o. what you are doing when you pirate a game is stealing a product that was designed and created by a team of people payed for by a company in a building that consumes resources in which case they NEED to sell their product you clown...

Lol, me a hippy... that's rich.
to steal you must deprive somebody of something, that deprivation isn't taking place, ergo the act of stealing hasn't taken place.

You're the only clown here, Vegeta.
edit: I don't care how the product came into existence, I'm not depriving anyone of that product by copying it, so I'll copy it as I please.

Your depriving a company which is a collection of people, not just one person, of their income for their product which is very real whether physical or not. your clearly the thick head child here..
Also your wrong. here you go english major.
steal
[steel] Show IPA
verb (used with object), stole, sto·len, steal·ing.
1.
to take (the property of another or others) without permission or right, especially secretly or by force: A pickpocket stole his watch.
By Jetackuu 2014-03-09 14:14:56
You're the thick headed person:
If the company wasn't going to make the money anyway, I'm not depriving them of anything.
You don't understand this simple concept:
me copying data is not stealing.
again: stop trying to push your twisted morals unto others by starting pointless internet fights, and throwing childish insults because you're too underdeveloped to understand simple constructs of a computer.
Oh just an fyi, from numerous English Majors I know: trying to win an argument by a single dictionary definition isn't a stable argument.
The meaning of words change, and it takes time. Laws also change, and it also takes time.
We as a society definitely haven't caught up to the digital age, and it's only a matter of time until it takes completely over, and the antiquated idea of copyright infringement is defeated.
Yet people still cling to it as they fail to advance and figure out how to make money without ripping people off by destroying and limiting IP's.
again: grow up.
edit: wait no, you're seriously arguing that "lost sales" is theft? seriously? do you have any idea how HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE that statement is?
I know politicians and corporate lobbyists use it all the time, but do you have any idea how ridiculous that assertion is?
More ridiculous than putting nips on batman.

Legally speaking, it is stealing/piracy, however, in this case, there is no damage inflicted to the company as they are not selling that product. If you want to preach moral highground, be my guest, but you're implying that they are hurting SE's ability to turn a profit on something they aren't selling.

Stealing (and taking) implies the addition to one side AND the subtraction from another. If she has 3 eggs and I take 1, now I have 1 egg and she has 2. "Stealing" is the same as "taking" in this manor but with the lack of permission. So not really applicable to this, which I guess you could call, copying without permission. (She has 1, I have 0. Now she has 1 and I have 1)
And if it matters, I'm an English Education major... :D

Piracy isn't stealing, can't help that the term hasn't caught up with the times.
It doesn't fit the use of the phrase, as again: it's not depriving anyone of anything, including groups.
edit: I've never argued against how the laws define it, as I don't really care how the law defines it, law is not where I derive morals from, nor respect when corporate lobbyists and corrupt politicians write said laws.
(I'm looking at you co-sponsor of SOPA, Bob Goodlatte)!

In order for them to win a lawsuit, they have to prove damages, there aren't any.
By Jetackuu 2014-03-09 14:24:05
Now if one wants to argue that copying and then claiming the work as yours, or trying to profit from it at that point, then yes you can argue that.
But for personal use, non-profit use, it can't be classified as stealing.

In order for them to win a lawsuit, they have to prove damages, there aren't any. Yeah, but most wimp out under a simple C&D letter even if under the law it's allowable.
Nobody wants to fight in court against corporate lawyers.

Just posting straight from the news post on their site.
This is a fan translation of Final Fantasy Type-0 for PSP, which was never localized in english.
Quote: For the past few weeks I’ve been discussing with the rest of the team a possible release date. As it turns out, even though the main story line is tested and looks pretty good, there are literally thousands of NPC’s that need to be corrected as well.
This is why the beta testing stage will take some more time than I had initially thought. However, not all are bad news, as we did reach an agreement about the release date! So I made a translation teaser to show different parts of the game, always featuring perfectly English-localized texts, and a nice, adapted interface. Of course, it also shows the day all fans will have access to the patch :).
As always, I’d like to give thanks to the wonderful Operation Doomtrain team, for making this possible, to Total-Noob, for adapting his Vita CFW so it’s compatible with out patch, and of course, to all Final Fantasy fans. This goes for you:
YouTube Video Placeholder
Quote: ~Sky
UPDATE - I understand the fact that many people are not happy with such a late release date, however, there are many factors to take into account, that justify it:
-First, there have been some misunderstandings about the progress, probably caused by enthusiasm from both the team and the rest of the fans. We consider it was not fair to have fans waiting such a long time in vain, without knowing an approximated date to look forward to.
-Second, there are many opinions within the team itself, about the completion date, some say we can have it in the next two month, some say three months are not enough. My personal opinion is that the game is playable in English as it is right now, being enjoyable as is. It is true that many NPC’s sound off context, and that’s why the majority of the team decided to postpone the release to have a parfect patch.
-Then there are many people who think an official localization would kill all our work. That’s not true; at this point, an official localization would mostly help reach our objective, which is to bring this game to all Final Fantasy fans. In fact, the E3 would have ended by August, so maybe there are good news for everyone!
-Now, note that this all could change at any moment depending on how the team feels about the state of the patch, meaning that the release date could indeed be pushed sooner at any time. In any case, fans now know the latest date they can play the game in English. We agree that it’s better to have a late date that we can push sooner, than having a near date that could be delayed. So be sure we’ll update as soon as we have more news!
Expected release date is August 8th.
