But it hasn't been this bad since the start of the Civil War though.

When the marching, protests, shootings, and riots start up then you could *possibly* claim this.
OWS. Nuff said.

So what part of "Occupy Wall Street" has to do with nullification, secession, or in general protest against having government overreach?

It was pretty much protesting the *lack* of government oversight and regulation, as well as protesting government assistance for private corporations without corresponding assistance for individuals.
In other words, almost polar opposite of what you were saying.

And now we cue the "Oh, i'm sorry, you must have missed the sarcasm tags" card.
Oh, and that whole "We want a different government" which was their entire point was not their, oh I don't know, entire point of the protests.

Also, they wanted to be anarchists. What can I say about that.

But if you claim that they weren't out there to protest the government, then you are ignoring them in entirely.

Which is normal for a liberal, ignore facts until you can twist it to prove your point

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is the name given to a protest movement that began on September 17, 2011, in Zuccotti Park, located in New York City's Wall Street financial district.

The Canadian, anti-consumerist, pro-environment group/magazine, Adbusters initiated the call for a protest. The ensuing series of events helped lead to media awareness that inspired Occupy protests and movements around the world. In awarding Workhouse its Platinum Award, industry publication PRNews noted "The results, obviously, have been spectacular. There’s hardly a newspaper, Internet or broadcast media outlet that hasn’t covered OWS."[7]

The main issues raised by Occupy Wall Street were social and economic inequality, greed, corruption and the perceived undue influence of corporations on government—particularly from the financial services sector. The OWS slogan, We are the 99%, refers to income inequality and wealth distribution in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population. To achieve their goals, protesters acted on consensus-based decisions made in general assemblies which emphasized direct action over petitioning authorities for redress.[8][nb 1]
And yet, who enables their grievances? Who really has the power to determine what we do with our lives? Businesses? Corporations? Rich? Or government?

Who were their supposed beef was towards? Those who have or those who have power over them?

Yea its been going on for more than decades actually and a state convention has still never happened. (Its looking pretty probable now) Nullification has been around forever as well its part of the process but the stuff getting the attention is what is unprecedented. Your constitution is being ignored and you seem to think "oh well its always been this bad, why should i care." Well keep on living in your growing police state and be sure to pay the individual mandate next year.

I agree the US is becoming more of a police state and has been for decades. Part of the problem are those states and the federal government. Militarization of the police and Civil forfeiture. Not to mention federal issues like extraordinary rendition, drones killing US citizens without due process internationally, keeping the interpretation of laws secret, and a whole lot of other crap.

But then I'm talking about an actual police state not "OMG I have to pay an individual mandate for health care".

I'd like to hear your definition of "a few extra bucks". And to Shiroi this is about all of that, Obamacare is just more fun to talk about because its a horrible disaster.

Where I live,
I'm paying ~42% income taxes, ~15% sales taxes, this is without counting Property and School taxes which varies greatly in which residential area you live.

So from my point of view, you are paying a few extra bucks for healthcare.

Perhaps you should be looking into those problems as well?

So you think its totally cool for the Federal Government to make you pay for being alive?

What?

Paying for healthcare is paying the federal government to keep you alive?

By that logic we already do that as we pay the federal government for a military to protect us from threats, countries, and people who want to kill us.

pyramid, pillars, the star, and the star resembles the face of baphomet, the capital G, the alternating white/grey symbolizes duality, the logo on their main page has the "eye of providence" surrounding the entire logo. These are all symbols used by illuminati/free mason/skull and bone. These secret organisations promote conflict and so does the one using this logo. There are far to many of the symbols/themes to be appearing on the same logo to be coincidence.

I don't trust them one tiny bit, I don't trust either side.

What problems? Having proper healthcare and affordable education?

You just said healthcare didn't factor into it and did not count education in your already HIGH taxes. You think Obamacare just made healthcare proper? lol /facepalm

What about paying the government and health insurance at the same time for the same thing.

Because that is what is currently happening in the US right now.

Don't believe me? Look into that 3.8% Medicare surtax. It was not made because the rich has higher medical bills or cost the government more in people using emergency rooms as their doctor's offices and stiff the bill. It was to force people into pay for those who refuse to take care of themselves.

What? You do realize the federal governments main roll is to operate the military right? Nowhere does it say they can tax/fine me for not having a service offered by a company.

The supreme court disagrees with you.

edit: also, this doesn't address your whole "Federal Government to make you pay for being alive?" which is not what a healthcare tax is to begin with.

But Yes, I am aware that is what the constitution states about the military which is why I used it as an example.

The supreme court said it could not be a penalty it must be a tax. They did not rule on the validity of obamacare.

But you aren't paying for the same thing. You are paying for other people's health care, and you are paying for your own.

Saying you are paying for the same thing is akin to paying for someone else's meal, and your own (i.e. you aren't paying for the same thing).

A proper implementation would have been to expand the Medicare/Medicaid/VA system to all SSN holders.

I won't argue in the least that the proposed system is a kludge, and a horrible compromise to try to get something which gets rid of the entire concept of pre-existing conditions.
