Obama administration sics the IRS on conservative and tea party group, "nothing to see here".
Obama administration fumbles terrorist attack on a foreign embassy, "nothing to see here".
ACA legislation fails to achieve its own stated goals, and begins ruining healthcare for the entire country, "nothing to see here".
Possible republican front runner for 2016 might be involved in a local traffic jam scandal "wall to wall coverage"

Just like everything else people's interests wain and in a month or so we will have moved onto the next thing.

Do you have proof that they demanded the IRS target those groups? Or would it be more reasonable to suggest that they were targeted because they were applying for tax except status at a high rate, and needed extra scrutiny?
I wouldn't call that a fumble, I wouldn't have sent aid in those conditions, it would be a severe risk, and the entire thing was blown out of proportion.
I still say there should be single payer health care, so I'm not fond of the ACA that much, it could have had a better implementation probably though, if so much money and effort was put into helping/improving it instead of trying to defeat it at every turn...
There was more coverage on all of those other things however, denying that is foolish.

I guess Christie is making his annual state of the state address tonight, first time such an address will ever receive such attention.

i was in pepboys today and they had ABC on while i was waiting. Just so happened it was time for Christie's speech about whats going on lately.
I find ABC's actions during that interesting tho. Right after Christie took responsibility for it, he went on to talk about more 'positive things' going on. As soon as it shifted from him taking blame to a positive side, ABC muted his airing of the speech - recapped the negative aspects - then went on with the rest of the broadcast.
Could at-least try not appear overly biased..

to be fair, the scandal is the national news, the rest of the speech is just state of the state stuff that every other governor is doing this week, & not national news.
idk

Christie could try not to deny it for months and blame the Democrats. Blaming democrats and diverting attention to something else is republican 101. It'd take, what, 5 minutes for him, as governor, to confirm what actually happened? And he didn't do it for months and months while reporters asked him about it...why? Funny how he's only taking responsibility now that internal emails were leaked to the public.
He didn't take responsibility because it's what he should do. He's taking responsibility because he was caught.

true, ill admit.
But it kinda seems more like a rationalization on abcs part to do that. Lets face it, pretty much all media outlets are biased one way or another. (Except maybe the BBC)

oh absolutely. No other party has ever blamed another on a consistent bases. And they definitely have never tried to hide something instead of admitting it right away.

'101' indicates something. Doesn't mean Democrats don't do it, it's just that Republicans resort to it for everything.
For example, recently, when asked why they decided not to extend unemployment benefits, their only answer is to shift the attention to Obamacare. That's not something a Democrat would do.
I'm no democrat, but the both-sides/same thing mentality is one of the things wrong with the political landscape in this country. Fox News says horrible things and incites violence on a regular basis, MSNBC says that Romney's family, with their adopted African American child, is a good representation of the diversity in the republican party as a joke, and somehow they're both equally malicious.

Just analyzing new trends here. So, saying both sides do something equally wrong is the new taboo? "It's okay that my party does something wrong, because the other party is so much worse."

simply put, it's the less accountable way to express apathy.
seriously though, crooked tactics are crooked tactics no matter how many people do it.

This is 100% correct, and it's one thing that I sometimes fault Jon Stewart for. Both sides are NOT the same. The media has this bizarre fascination with always being in the middle between the two major parties, but as the GOP has raced rightward, they have dragged that middle along with them.
Of course it doesn't help that most Democrats are gutless, and the few that aren't are almost all centrists rather than true progressives.

He's talking about the popularity of false equivalence. One bad thing = another bad thing only if you're mentally lacking. Not all errors are created equal and they shouldn't be viewed as such by default.

Well sure. I agree that not all errors are created equal. But excusing your party's errors because the other party has worse errors just creates an environment where your party gets a free pass because they're "not as bad".

The word idiot derives from the ancient Greek. Well actually its almost unchanged except that it lost the political connotation. The literal translation is "non voter" the idiomatic translation is exactly how we use the word today.

Really, the media's role is over both parties on the side of the facts and with the responsibility to inform the populous. The problem is that years ago, entertainment companies got into the news business and capitalized on the advertiser revenue from injecting disgusting amounts of opinion into "newscasts". Essentially, they have taken the editorial section and put in on page 1, because it's far more profitable.
The biggest issue is that those kinds of organizations are allowed to call themselves a news agency, which in the strictest sense is a term reserved for factual reporting. No opinion or censorship (self or otherwise) should be involved in news reporting.
I'm of the opinion that newscasts should be public domain and off limits for advertising. News parody needs to die if we're ever going to have a shot at reclaiming our government.

It's just too bad there isn't an ancient greek word for "watches editorialized faux-news and believes it".

or you know...when a hurricane devastates a city, we didnt just go "***, everythings fine!"

NBC and CNN can make gaping errors and im just like "wow" :( but then FOX completely accidentalys a story out of thin air and im like "this should be illegal".

I guess we should talk about this:
http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/09/politics/chris-christie-bridge-primer/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
Aside from the obvious, which is that this kind of political payback is disgusting and wrong, I think that this scandal damages Chris Christie's 2016 chances. Over the next few days and weeks we should get a clearer picture of his actual involvement, so maybe I'm off-base and he'll escape unscathed.
Anyone else got thoughts on this whole debacle?
