Noobest Thing You've Ever Done?

First time I logged in, I was on the wrong server (I was like 13 and what is this), had no idea wtf I was doing. Someone was quitting and giving away ***to newbies.

I got a haubergeon and like, those gloves DRG wears midrange with a bunch of ATK.

2 hours later I deleted my character and remade it on Midgard to play with my friends.

If only I knew..

First ever NNI run, finally got invite to go as 2nd Embrava SCH. We hit floor 60'ish and I start firing off macros: Tabula Rasa, Perpetuance, Penuary, Accesion, and finally Embrava.. nothing happens, hit embrava again, still nothing. Party yelling go! go! go! we are running out of time! Manually type out macro and still nothing...

I forgot to get Embrava off NPC after level 5. It showed up on my spell list so I thought I had it automatically.

Being a bastokian, and leveling blm. Worms didn't chase you, but their stone certainly was more effective.

When I was a wee new adventurer camping Leaping Lizzy, I camped and camped for about four hours once. And then some high-level ran through and killed her right as I was running up to her! I was so upset that I /slapped the high level, then ran off in a huff.

The next time I went to camp Lizzy, she didn't spawn again for several hours and I thought for sure that a GM had seen me slap the other person and was keeping Lizzy from spawning to punish me. From that day on (even years later) I never slapped anyone else unless I was joking with them. The GMs would punish me! ;;

I think your memory must be playing tricks on you, you wouldn't be able to cast warp II as rdm/blm back in the days of meripos. :/

I was in Delve a few weeks ago. Was doing a long pull on my bard. Clipped a corner of the wall and it was just enough for the mob to catch up to me and break my mazurka. Well I tried to finish running it there but it ended up killing me around the corner from my party. I didn't want to chase it down again. Was just going to RR and sleep it. So i started getting impatient and mashing my controller before RR came up..... Of course everyone knows it takes a couple seconds for the RR to come up and I accidentally HPed....

i sentinel+flashed daquwaka with a bunch of mobs on me already and died by my mages MPKing 80% of the alliance :(

This was a recent embarrassment. Thunderbolt was (and still is) the last spell I needed to learn for my blu. I looked up Thunderbolt on ffxiwiki, saw that it was used by raptors, and spent DAYS in Sauroman Champagne.

Erm, where was I? Oh yeah. I spent days killing raptors to learn Thunderbolt, raged, whined, growled, and fussed-- then realized that I can't learn it from raptors because it comes from behemoths. Oops.

I actually looked at the crystal as I appeared, and thought, "wtf are other members of the alliance doing here with me? They were in Mis a minute ago.."

Just now, in a worm party leveling PUP.... going for a dusty elixir. Pop a Brew. Mostly godly lv 80 PUP on worms ever.

LS Doing DL and ADL x4, Had a few Smn, Brd, SCH and lots of DD. We all 17/18 knew what steps we were taking. Kill DL x4 then pop ADL x4 and exit. One of our SMN Figured we would go off and do Smn and Brd 2hrs on 1st DL, causing everyone to wonder wtf he was doing. He went and bitched back about not knowing what "DL and ADL" ment even though we had killed them over 10 times in the month before. I LLed a wyrm beard a while ago, but that's all that comes to mind atm. I'm sure I've done something more noobish at some point, though.

A key on my keyboard got stuck, I spazzed out because of it, and I figured out that call for help works on NMs in Delve fractures. '-'

Was in an alliance fighting Genbu, we got it to 5% hp when instead of pressing crtl t to talk to someone I pressed crtl h, which then called for help making the past hour of farming, fighting and not to mention any reputation I had a complete waste of time >.<

Back when you had alliances and stuff in dynamis, I was always WHM. I never macro'd stuff like protect, shell, ports, because I was lazy. My PC is also pretty bad.. it was time to rebuff, and I had just used Protectra V, I go down to Shellra V, and after like 5 seconds I was still waiting for the cast to finish. The cast finished and I was zoning. I was like. whut.. Turns out I lagged a little and tried to move my camera while still on the menu, which scrolled me up without noticing. <_< Obviously, everyone was close enough...

I'll share mine. In my first Nyzul run. While waiting for party to fully assemble, I thought the entry process was like other BC, everyone needs to click to enter. So not wanting to make everyone wait I click into it... only to enter 5/6 (or was it 4/6 I don't remember exactly) party into Nyzul. Missing healer -> run failed need to re-enter and everyone loses a tag.

I'm still embarrassed about it.

Not exactly a noob move on my part, but durring a NNI run we were at ~F80 just putting up our 2nd Embrava, so the mood was high, several members were 15/15 so it could very well be our last run. It's a big kill-all and I run around a corner and realize I'm DCing. Turns out my wife had unplugged the power strip the modem was plugged into because she didnt' realize her wifi was off and thought the modem was screwed up. Of course the next floor was code. We timed out on 98 or 99.

Oh god, the noob moments I've had. I think my FFXI career is more defined by my derps than my successes. A few come to mind.

When I first started, and was doing the summoner quest with my first linkshell, we went up into Xarcabard for snow weather as well as to get my Vahzl crystal. On the way up there, we ran into Shadow Dragon. I had seen a dragon only once before, in the DRG quest, and remembered it being a big deal, so me on my little level 30 DRG was like OH IT'S A DRAGON I WANNA KILL IT. We kill it, yay, easy win. Biast then proceeds to spawn, takes out my help, and catches me three steps from the Vahzl crystal with my karmaic backlash in tow. With no reraise on any of us I had to wait for them to run back 'cause neither had Teleport-Vahzl. To this day, I still owe Biast my revenge, but he won't spawn. ;_;

Let's see... I remember being in the basement of Garliage Citadel at some point, on Red Mage for something or another, and a group had Serket. They aggroed a ghost, so I go to help, trying to sleep it. They had already claimed it with a bind or something, so I told them to CFH it so that I could sleep-nuke the ghost away. I caused them to CFH Serket as a result, and there was a lot of mad. I felt so bad afterwards. xD

All the times I've gone BRD/BLM to Salvage II. And since one day where I got pissed at people who were really riding on me on a bad day, where I rage-warped, there's been a joke where if anyone's playfully teasing me, I'll joke back at them: "Screw this, I'm warping out!"

Back while lving BLM in the teens I was invited into an all mage PT in the maze killing worms, WHM would silence it, then we'd all nuke it. Most of these BLM were overlooked for Dunes PTs cause of the /heal times. I thought at the time we were making great exp, 200/kill, not looking at the long wait between every fight lol


While helping my friend farm his ruby for the SMN quest in the Buburimu Peninsula. After what felt like forever it finally drops after a few cheers I teleport us to Mea to get back to town a little quicker while we're grabbing out chocos my friend notices he doesn't have the ruby. We had forgotten to lot/pass it to him. We then take said chocobos back to Buburimu Peninsula to start farming again...

HAHAH couldnt help it, but just yesterday I was GEO/RDM and convert died to Tax'et....... my life is complete now

When i first started playing, I thought the Red disconnect symbol above my name meant that someone in my ls just died.

When I was a wee young adventurer, I thought RDM/WAR with melee gear was a good idea. I would melee with the DD and maybe cast the odd spell until I got to level 30ish and no one in Yhoater would invite me anymore ; ;

Also I was in Jeuno, and this random BLM taru came up to me, waved to me, invited me to his party. I accepted it and before I could know what was going on, he warped me straight back to Bastok. I was angry, and he just laughed at me, so I vowed never to accept parties from little black mage tarus ever again.

Cast a spell right in front of an elemental.

Also a story that some players will remember me for, was the legendary "4 Dhalmel" pull. My dynamis linkshell had worked hard to get our clears, and eventually we felt strong enough to take on dreamlands. So we decided to do Dynamis - Buburimu.

Now, as a silly elvaan THF, I had already put my linkshell through some glorious ***-ups, but this one was by far the funniest. We killed the Mega Boss of the zone, and gathered at the Dhalmel to begin farming. So without knowing how these mobs work, I scout the area, and I see four dhalmel in front of me.

"4 Dhalmel incoming".



I pulled and ran towards the linkshell, only for the people to begin displaying their horror as a stampede of 20+ Dhalmel came thundering up the hill.
So I quickly Flee'd away and got gangbanged by a bunch of giraffes, while everyone just laughed at my legendary noobery. They made sure to remind me of it every time we found ourselves back at those Dhalmel :)

Also I used to think Malboro would scare my Chocobo into kicking me off after I was checking one out in Pashow. I was on the way to Jeuno, and I was just messing about, having a look, next thing I know I'm being kicked off, aggroed, and having to home point back to Bastok to start the long journey again.

I join in and run all the way to the spawn and wait there for 30min-1hr( thought that i would get their early so people wouldn't have to wait for me since i didnt have the VW warp to get there quick)before we get a full party and are able to pop it. Once it is popped i procced to use my "Instant scroll of Reraise". Next thing i know im in jeuno...

Bot-claiming darters at Fafhogg and not noticing until the last darter killed me. Less of a noob moment and more of a stoned-out-of-my-gourd moment, though.
