Here is the said comparison from a few days ago, it seems pretty accurate to me since its about the same as comparing PC to PS2 for FFXI. I'm probably going to do the same as I did with 11, start on the console until the parts get cheap enough for me to play on a PC. [Although it looks so pretty on PC which is really tempting me to just shell out the money]
A 400-500$ can play without issue i build mine before the release of 1.0 got a 450GTS and play High-Med setting but i'm going to upgrade to a Asus 660GTX so when they release the DX11 patch i can play without issue on high setting.

There are plenty of online games that don't use battle gear swapping.
It was nothing but tedious in XI and I'm glad it won't be returning here.
Also to the windower comment, please please please stop thinking this is ran by the same Tanaka run developer team. The plug in/add on API will be release to the public at the start of 2014.
ya a dev just post you can't switch gear when you have hate on a mob -.- they keep changing thing around lol
I assume so you can't change jobs constantly in the same fight? I assume that if you change jobs you lose any buffs you have. like in ffxi right?

Apparently the developers were pissed about the gear swap fest FFXI became. I'd say if they weren't worried about messing with FFXI and screwing up (losing subscribers) I'd say they would try to troll people who like to gear swap while fighting. (That might have to do with their instance about 3rd party tools...)
So, on XIV they made it so you can't gear swap at all while engaged.
But really at this point I don't know what they're going to do. They seem to be desperate for money now and such restrictions being removed in an attempt to please the player base is a possibility.
Edit: Also, this time around they made sure you can't hop around platforms freely. You will need to purchase a PC copy to play it on PC if you start on PS3. Or the inverse. lol

Can't really say :) 1.0 you could change jobs in dungeon but you can't have hate on a mob so ya but who knows about 2.0.
@Mariane i agree they are very desperate to the point that yoshi-p said the same line that tanaka said about jumping. We can add jumping but what be the point of it? then maybe like 2-4month later they show this video and the chocobo was jumping -.- so now you can jump and can jump on our mounts..

If you going to play FFXIV you have to get use to it :) i did not see much people jumping when i play alpha/beta only when needed or when people trying to get top of a house or tents and such.
The good thing is they making worlds just for players who want to be in a world with everyone start from level 1. I'm guessing that where most wow/ other mmo players would end up. So if you join a world where all the lv 50 can join you may not see as much jumping and less stupid players.

Hello,
I used to play ffxiv when it first came out, bought a pc back then just to play it. with the pc specs at that time i could run the game with a lil lag here and there but nothing major, wasn't unplayable or anything.
since seeing the trailers for ARR and the gameplay i'm thinking about trying it out again, however after running the benchmark on that same pc it seems i would just barely be able to run the game and it would for the most part probably be unplayable.
my question is this being that i'm on a somewhat limited budget would i be better off rebuying the game for ps3 and linking my old account to it? or would i be better off saving up money for pc upgrades.
my current pc specs are as follows:
<<< System Summary >>>
> Mainboard : Asus M4N68T-M-V2
> Chipset : (Family 10h) Athlon/Opteron/Sempron/Turion HyperTransport Configuration
> Processor : AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ 3000 MHz
> Physical Memory : 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )
> Video Card : ATI Radeon HD 5450
> Hard Disk : Hitachi HDS721010CLA SCSI Disk Device (1000GB)
> DVD-Rom Drive : ATAPI iHAS124 B
> Monitor Type : SANYO LCD - 40 inches
> Network Card : Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
> Network Card : D-Link DWA-125 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter(rev.A2)
> Network Card : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
> Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
> DirectX : Version 11.00
> Windows Performance Index : 3.6 on 7.9
wondering what i would specifically need to upgrade, what would be the priorities to upgrade first, and about how much the total cost would end up around. i'm looking for around mid to high performance.
thnx in advance for any help and sry for being a tech noob ><
edit: if it helps my benchmark score was in the 1000-1499 range.

my pc is very similar to yours Zyla, all i did was upgrade my video card and i can run game on max with np i change to geforce gtx 560 ti /1024mb, with bench mark i score 6000+ish on full, window score was 7000+ as for price i got my v card at best buy on sale for $130.00 USD, in long term of playing FFXIV your better off upgrading your pc rather than ps3 ... due to limitation but its all personal preference
my specs is same cpu, 4gb ram, had the radeon 5450 but is now changed to gtx 560 ti, also had to change my power supply to support the new v card
By Zyla 2013-06-11 15:07:02
ty for the info i'll definitely check into it. what power supply would i need to support the video card and about how much does it run?
edit: also i looked up the video card you suggested, it's a PCI-e bus. the one in my system is just a PCI it seems. will this be an issue?
edit2: nvm i just looked up the 5450 on ati's website, it's PCI-e
By sfcharger 2013-06-11 19:09:04
my current power supply is 600w , cant remember if my old power supply was 400 or 500w but it wasnt enough so i got the 600w an not one problem since

thnx for all the info, from what i've looked up at current prices i'm lookin at around $150-250 for the card based on manufacturer and another $40-50 for a PSU. probably should upgrade to at least 8gb ram as well, but for now i'm lookin at around $190-300 for a graphical upgrade. better start savin now i guess lol. if you can think of anything else i should probably upgrade based on my specs for overall performance let me know pls. and thnx again for the help :D

I think FF14 was announce for PS4 too....correct?
By Zyla 2013-06-12 11:56:17
yea sometime in 2014 ps4 is getting it as well, but i didn't want to wait that long XD
after doin some research on parts and upgrades i'll more than likely go with pc, as upgrading it would be universally beneficial in the long run. i plan to get a ps4 at some point but more than likely not till KH3 comes out.

I tried Beta on PS3. DID NOT LIKE IT. graphics were obscure at times, heavily pixel-ed background--as in blocky and not smooth. I changed to my PC (scored extremely high on Benchmark) and there, the PC destroyed the PS3. PS3 FPS (frames/second--not the First Person Shooter :D) was low--unless you like people/toons skipping. I was only able to play for a few hours before the FIRST freeze. So, aside from graphics and FPS, the PS3 FFXIV crashed, a few times. I am not alone in that happening. Again, PC FFXIV was much better. Personally, I'm holding out for PS4.

Not that I disagree with what you're saying, but I'm shocked! To me, the devs were extremely favorable in gear swapping--hence the str/dex/vit... vs the atk/acc/def. I mean, the gears are heavily sided in favor of DPS or WS. Same goes for mage, respectively. I however, HATED that gear swapping became such a role...agonizing at that. Even though I have a few relics/emph's under my belt (kikoku pre-aby) that needed the stat-boosts for the WS to do dmg (*cough* Metsu *cough*), I would not want to go back to gear swapping! Eva!~!~! :) In lieu of segregation of stats, Mr/Mrs. Dev, can we just get gear that consists of both?
I plan to play ffxiv, and was wondering if I should buy the ps3 version or the pc version.
Questions I have are, do you need to gear swap constantly like in ffxi, are there macros?
Would a windower application help enhance gameplay like it does with 11.
Could ps3 have such an application.
Dual-boxing friendly? Or rather would it be beneficial?
