I was wondering because tip stones are more rng oriented so maybe slit wont give dmg on gun.

I got dmg on the bow with slits, they were cheaper than tips. Verda is right though, weapons are much harder to aug than armor, it took me over 200 leaf stones before I saw a crit dmg + aug, where as with armor I could usualy get what I wanted with less than a stack of +1s.

Relic hat seems to be the only piece really being pushed of those. Empyrean Body/Hands/Legs are pretty high on the current priority pile. if you do not want to go the Skirmish route, I suppose Orion/Arcadian Socks +1 would be a priority.
might I direct you to the gear sets ~two pages back for the current best in slot calculations?

they still have uses for their JAs, but that is still a bit lower priority compared to getting your TP/WS sets in order, IMO.

So I was trying to decide what job to lvl next, then I got the +1 bow from the unity shadow nms while farming incense to pop some esch nms with my LS. So I picked RNG! Is this bow any good? I don't really want to make a 4th skirmish weapon (-.-) especially when my other 3 are only "close to perfect" and my ocd makes me want to spend more on them.
I'm also a bit confused about some stuff... Let me see if this is right;
You put on snapshot gear, press your /ra macro, then switch to other gear with str/RNG att/STP etc instead of snapshot and let the shot go off.
The 65% crit DMG trait is not active during ws's even if it crits?
The crit rate based on tp for jishnus is not known?
Since RNG crits are based on agi, do we have any idea about the agi range for current endgame hnms?
If anyone can answer me that'd be great, thanks.

Newish Ranger here with no AF+1, Relic+1, etc.
What pieces are needed/essential/nice to have? Need to prioritize.
I'd put Taeon Boots with Racc/Ratt (if you're using bow) as a priority. Snowtips are fairly cheap and leafslits are cheap (Got max Crit hit rate with +1 stone). This gives you the 20 Ratt you'd get from Relic +1 while adding 20 Racc. The crit hit rate combined with Fencer and Empy 119 legs is pretty nice. If you have enough Racc, you can also midshot in Rancorous Mantle (Although i'm not sure if this is best DPS, maybe for Yoichi?)

/equip snapshot set
/ra <t>
/equip stp/str/r.acc set
So long as your snapshot gear is on before you use /ra, and your damage set is equipped after, you get the benefit of both.

The dead aim job trait (its 45% not 65% lol)
If I use jishnus and it crits do I get the +45% damage? I heard somewhere I don't, but I don't know where I saw that.

Dead Aim does not apply to Weaponskills. Fencer, however, does, so basically if you're using a Bow and you're using JR, then you want to be using a 1 handed weapon and single wielding it.

Unless the crit rate increase on jishnus is ***when adding more tp.... Like blade hi...
And even then, it seems questionable with crits only being a what 30%? 40%? Increase in damage.

Basically, if fencer is like a 5% crit rate increase and you only gain 40% damage when you score a crit, and your crit rate is already 50%~ that fencer bonus is only 1-2% damage at most. Dual wielding a weapon with 10-15 dex should beat that... If you need real math to illustrate this point I can provide it after work! Currently bored and typing on my phone. But this is why I specifically asked about crit rate a lot in my previous post. I'm not convinced fencer is even useful for spamming jishnus.

Vs
(320+165)/(320+150)=1.0319
It would look something like this with the dex adding 3% damage and 5% crit rate adding 2%. (Sloppy lazy math, just showing why I ask all those questions, fencer might not be as good as you expect.)(a d yay for figuring out how to copy and paste math problems from my phone into Google.)
But really, without an accurate understanding of crit rates and what fencer does, you'll never be able to determine if its good or not.

I was mostly talking about overall DPS with Fencer and crit hit rate. JR, DEX should win everytime unless your fSTR isn't capped?

This would mean giving up on berserk, nothing beat berserk for rng!

You're right I ignored ammo DMG, that def is a factor, but you also have to factor in Delay. Theres just not many situation's I see where a Gun RNG is going to beat a Bow RNG that knows what he's doing. Guess theres only 1 way to test?

Is JR going to beat LS? By far.
Is gun going to beat bow? Not if the bow gets to JR frequently. If you're stuck to coro vs namas, yes the gun wins. So really it's a question of how frequently do you get to JR.

Higher delay, to a point, is good for Ranger. It allows for easier 4-hit builds, in some cases, even 3-hit builds, something I'm not sure Bows can achieve.
I have been playing Ranger for over 8 years. I have seen and experienced the back and forth fight between bow and gun. I know right now, it's sided more on the bow side, solely due to Jishnus.
But, there are some instances where guns are better. On Putraxia, for instance. If you go with a Ranger setup, you can have the Rangers freely spam Last Stand, since it doesn't Skillchain with itself. You can have only one Ranger using JR, any more and they run the risk of making a SC.
