Sucky? No.
1/5 = 73%
5/5 = 85%
If you are the kind of person who has multiple jobs and likes to have all the WS unlocked, then 1/5 in all the WS won't be bad, this update makes it viable.
However, you will always be 12% behind someone who is 5/5 and in the same gear.
So if you pride yourself on being the best DD you can be, pick your 'Main' job's WS and 5/5 that, and put the rest where you want.

5>1, there isn't much to debate.
Sure there is! 1/5 before update = 17% mod, 1/5 now = 73% mod, which is superior to the pre-update of 4/5 once equaling 68% mod.
Moral of the story, one merit will make ANY "Merit WS" reasonably useful and reliable! As a reminder most other WS's generally have a mod of 30-50%, which still makes the new 1/5 merit allotment vastly superior.
Of course whatever your main best geared DD job is I agree that "Merit WS" should probably remain 5/5. So pick 10 other "Merit WS" 's for other jobs that's not really your main and have fun.
Or pick 2 main merit WS's make them 5/5 and pick 5 others and make them 1/5, do whatever. The point of this adjustment is clearly to make things more flexible than ever before with merit WS choices is what I think.

Quote: However, you will always be 12% behind someone who is 5/5 and in the same gear.
To clarify, it won't be a straight 12% less damage, your stat mod will be 12% less than what someone capped will have.
WSD is Base Damage x fTP x pDIF
Base Damage is just Weapon D + fSTR + Stat Mod, for the purposes of this calculation we can just ignore Weapon D and fSTR.
So let's just simplify things and assume Resolution has 1.0 fTP per hit, you happen to multiattack enough times to 8-hit it, and that pDIF is capped (2.25).
For every 100 STR, your damage will be behind by:
(85-73) x 8 x 2.25 = 216
So for 200 STR you'll be behind by 432 damage making those same assumptions (well I haven't factored in WSD gear like Phorcys Body, feel free to adjust it as needed). 400 is not a small amount by any means, but it's not like before where if you didn't at least 4/5 the WS it'd be totally useless.

Apparently so, I'm curious to know what they are now though. They say things like "Increases AGI effect by 3%" instead of 17%.
Are they starting off at something like 70%?
Per merit:
1 = 73%
2 = 76%
3 = 79%
4 = 82%
5 = 85% On that note, several of Friend List / Linkshell have been asking me if it be worth to make 1/5 on WS now........
I have told them I believe 5/5 Still best but Might be now that is 73% not 17% due to most WS are 30~50% mod
What do you guys think? Any input on that (Plz help don't want to give them Wrong info)
I think if you want even as many as 7 to 11 of the merit weaponskills you could make one or two your most cherished and simply unlock the rest that you want. I'll be planning on 5/5 Resolution, and then at least unlock Blade: Shun, Tachi Shoha, Stardiver, Exenterator, Requiescat, Ruinator, and Last Stand. It is all subject to preference, but at least now we aren't being punished for leveling more than 3 jobs. And keep in mind, the new 1/5 is still better than the old 4/5.

Sharur is the craftable one. And it doesn't even have BLU in it...

And after you kill a NM his possible drops (I assume) are available for purchase from this NPC in West Adoulin.

Ah, okay. So there's no HQ/NQ pair for clubs.
Also, rumor has it that you can just "use" the Yaggzi items that are dropping on yourself and gain Plasma. So some rich guy should be able to bum-rush their way to a D200 weapon.

Anyone have any solid info on delve? Im sure alot of people tried them last night as well as myself and LS, any idea what drops from them? We popped a T4 in ceizak (gnat) to see what kinda challenge they give and was a 12man group, well it raged and the evasion it had was pretty serious, i had 146acc w/ ragnarok Drk and still wiffed 80% of the time. We got it down probably 20% before ***hit the fan. Anyone have a link to some solid info yet? I havnt seen much in BG yet. Thanks.

If understand it correctly (just skimmed through the thread), these super FU weapons (the rare/ex editions) are just the NQs? And they all drop from Delve?

The RARE/EX drop from the new NM's, some of them are on the field, some of them are inside the Delve Fissure.
The other craftable weapons have NQ and HQ versions, but so far no one has been able to get all the materials to craft them. Some of the recipes are known, though. According to BG most (if not all) of them require a Gabbrath Horn, which so far seems like a really stupidly hard to obtain item, considering people are getting their *** handed to them by the field NM's.

Assume once people find these craftables they'll be going for some retardedly high price. And that one person who manages to HQ one of the synths.... it'll be like they won the damn lotto. Still, reading through a thread saying that LV99 mythics are obsolete... all I could hear playing in my head while I read through the thread was this:

Honestly I'm not too concerned. As far as I know, I was the only person to survive the .mass ffxiv c&d's. They know my site is out there.
