I gave up trying to dl. I'll try again tomorrow after work.

It's not official, but it is authentic and clean. Krizz has been doing this for a while and has been in the community for a while.

Just follow the instructions the site gives and everything works fine.

So it looks like Square Enix employees have been doing a lot of crack and meth the last 30 days... Because unless I'm wrong, they are intentionally killing the game

This has been a dead game since 2004 or so what everyone has been saying since then.

Players are silly. They take all the content SE has been introducing into the game these past few years in an effort to kill it, and they participate in it instead. What's up with that?

They really are. Devs of games like these never kill them intentionally. They have the server off switch for that, when the time comes. Big changes are always an attempt to bring in new players, get old ones to return, and keep current ones interested. Sometimes, MMO developers mess up, and their games will lose players over time (or rarely, all at once), but they never do it on purpose.

It's pretty tough to see "get players to return" wisdom in obseleting (albeit temporarily) their pride and joy.

It'd be fine wisdom, though a bit odd, to do R/M/E update and this at the same time, but to ***on the most loyal players (ANYONE who has built a relic, and certainly a mythic has dedication to this game).

I don't want to say such nonsense as "they're trying to kill this game" because that doesn't make any sense, but a lot of their recent decisions haven't made a whole lot of sense.

I definitely agree. The "corporate" line of thought was probably that they'll be enticed by new jobs and "awesome" weapons, and all run out and buy the expansion, or something. But they're missing the value, as corny as it sounds, of human emotion in these matters. Players that build relics etc. are indeed very dedicated, and they seem to be forgetting about that at the moment.

Time will tell. Maybe we'll see the REM update in a month or something or they'll nerf these weapons down to more reasonable levels or something. Or maybe, we'll get another tier of weapons that even puts *these* to shame! Who knows?

Well one thing's for sure. I'll be sure to complain about the same bloody thing, unrelentlessly, over and over again, across multiple topics for hours on end.

Because that's the kind of life I have.

Well, at the moment they're nuking official-forum accounts of just about anyone that speaks in negative regard to these weapons.

As an example, that corporate espionage post would get me banned if the post I made earlier hadn't already.

If you threaten to quit, they ban. If you quote someone who threatened to quit, they ban (well, it was actually someone translating). If you say anything other than THESE NEW WEAPONS ARE AWESOME AND I CAN'T WAIT, they ban.

...and they'll probably ban for caps.

I'm honestly tempted to go make a post saying I hate the new direction just to see, lol. I never use the official forums anyway.

In short, there are new craftable weapons that have damage values roughly twice those of REM weapons.

Pretty stupid that they ban people for saying negative things on the OF.

They don't like criticism that's for sure.. but if they would actually listen to the critics, that would make things better for everyone.

Yea, i can keep dreaming.

It is incredibly stupid if they are truly banning people over that. How unfortunate.

A lot of the criticism prior to this update though WAS "we're sick of side-grades" and "we're sick of reworking old content." Now it's "these upgrades are too upgradey!" and "we want reasons to do old content." People who are satisfied with change don't speak up as often as those who are dissatisfied with change. Pre-abyssea, everyone seemed to hate leveling because it was too slow (some liked it, myself included, but I could count on one hand the people who I KNEW liked leveling). Post-abyssea, everyone hates leveling because it's too fast. I know there are a lot of people that love it, but they don't speak up much (again, myself included; yes, I'm weird, I enjoyed both experience points models).

Yeah, those that are happy tend not to post/voice their happiness. This sort of thing happens a lot, though, where devs (not just in FFXI) will hear a common complaint like "We're sick of side-grades" and then shoot over the moon in trying to address that complaint. Something can be an upgrade without having to be twice as powerful as the thing before it!

Hopefully they get it all worked out so things aren't spread so far apart between item tiers.

Yeah, I mostly agree with that. I don't see why the jump had to be quite so large. It had to happen. It had to be substantial (no level cap increases anymore, etc.), but it is...strange. I'm not sure why they felt the need to go so far so fast. It doesn't particularly bother me, but I do find it odd. I'm a strange sort of b**** though. I didn't feel any surprise/shock at the new weapons, nothing positive or negative. My first thought was "here comes the rage!"

So you miss a game where nothing progressed for the sake of delusional balance which wasn't balance at all because the game had a clear hierarchy. Right.

The kneejerk is strong in this one.

It's no worse than a game where content is trumped before people can even get it. Or where weapons that take considerable amounts of time and or money are suddenly overshadowed by crafted items that double their damage? Yes. How could I be so blind. This is MUCH better.

To the people bitching:

Have you beat Naakuals yet?
Have you cleared Delve yet?
Have you even beaten a Delve NM?

Theres plenty to *** about but when Matsui says that his new top-tier content is going to be top tier then yes, this is the type of ***I expect to see from the content - the *** best.

Legion tried the Tanaka path of balance and it *** sucked. The people who did the content went for the challenge and the chance at miniscule HQ augments that have rightfully been trashed for reasonable NQ augments.

SE already said R/E/Ms will get buffed, quit bitching and get to doing the content already. People are wigging out and I haven't seen a v2 Naakual downed yet. The NA base seems obsessed with bitching rather than getting ***done.

Sorry you won't be 2boxing your way to victory, Ashittea is over.

The content is designed to be a ladder if you havent noticed. Prior to SoA R/E/M were demanded for *** anything and thats unreasonable for any number of reasons. SE already said R/E/M will get their patches so put that crap aside and look at the setup atm.

You've got entry level Reives which are for better or worse stupid easy with a proper group and your foot in the door to Coalition gear, armor and the like.

Now you're at the baseline of gear you can start dabbling in Skirmishes which I admit are still too expensive to reasonably run but allow you to gear up some proper weapons for the content at hand. Alternatively you can run Naakuals for some amazing weapons/armor to round out whatever you've scrounged up.

Now its Delve. You take your pro gear to the pro circuit and amazing craft mats and loot in return. You've reached this tier by doing ***and now you can reap the rewards by pitting yourself against challenging foes. The incentive is the fact that ***is far and above what you possess which is the drive to do it.

We tried Legion once before and it failed because only ~1% of the base cared to run some pretty hard content for 95% sidegrades.

Let me also point out They stated that while they have a plan for r/m/e, there is absolutely NO timeframe, or if they "can secure the proper amount of manpower to continue it." They have thus far failed miserably to make good on updates that were given a specific timeline, so forgive me if I'm not too hopeful. Oh I know, we'll get the upgrades to r/m/e weapons after smns get Atomos and Cait sith. That must be it.

If the easy versions of Delve NMs are a guage for their more difficult versions, it's probably safe to say that these super weapons will be out of reach for the vast majority of the player base for a good while ('til they decide to nerf the older content like they say). They've given players an immediate goal - gear up and complete Delve. Whether or not you're motivated by such a goal is entirely personal, obviously.
