so they can drop the 11 servers and cost cut They would lose money. FFXI brings in a lot of income.
The point would be to 'persuade' the 11 playerbase into jumping ship to 14. Or maybe retain as many paying customers as possible when your company has suffered the worst 8 quarters in its history.

Defense on shields matters, and 61 is hilarious. Ochain and Aegis will still be superior, but that yawning chasm of separation is more of a little hop now.

Update lacks a bard horn that combines the harp and Ghorn while giving 5 songs and boosting their effects even higher and a shield that is a merge of Aegis and Ochain with an extra -15% Dmg taken just to complete the set.

That idea only works for the rare/ex ones. Some of those are crafted.

It's strange that the armor, so far, isn't much different than what was already available, but the weapons are just absurdly overpowered compared to anything we've ever imagined. I have no clue what they're trying to do here.
The armor can all be augmented. Look at the base def on them, there are gloves in there with more def than current tanking bodies.

Yeah, I missed that. The past has trained me to all but ignore the defense stat. I'm still not over that yet.

my Kannagi just got that "Not so Fresh feeling."
due to new katana damage.
at least new katana doesnt have blade hi. New Katana can beat Kannagi without even needing the WS.
I thought about that after i already posted. It's kind of demoralizing considering i have 1370 or so Heavy Metal Plates to go.
I hate to be "that guy" but those plates could have gone towards a weapon that would have made a much greater impact anyway.
It's nice when someone takes the "that guy" mantle away from me.
At the time i picked my weapon my LS had very few Ninjas and i mainly played NIN, WHM, and SMN. Making an empy for whm or smn wasnt really on my to do list (though smn mythic is). And i wanted blade Hi.
Now i have more jobs, and my NIN helped my LS a lot, so no regrets.
But you are more than welcome to your opinion.

Highly doubt it will make ochain/aegis irrelevant.

Unless they have increased block rates on-par with ochain and aegis they won't be useful.

Block rate's not the problem it used to be, with Reprisal (and Palisade, but Reprisal with /sch is essentially never down).
I still think Ochain and Aegis are superior, I'm just saying the gap isn't what it was.

I haven't played in 3 weeks. Last update motivated me enough to take a break. I was anxiously waiting for this update to confirm my fears and validate my decision to just not bother. Honestly, I can't be bothered to play hamster. And it looks like the wheel is accelerating. call me weak and not fit to survive, but I'm tired of working towards things and having SE reward me with these kind of updates that really only cater to those of us who did nothing but use AH gear.

The next version update is scheduled to come a-ridin' into town at the end of April, hot on the heels of last month's update!
The update will wrangle together further enmity adjustments, reive adjustments, attribute corrections and adjustments associated with weapons skills learned through merit points, cap increases for magic skills, and a bevy of job-related adjustments.
Also coming in guns a-blazin' is all-new battle content which takes aim at players who have completed existing Wildskeeper Reive and Skirmish content. |
