Along with the "Flamethrower" scene at the end of "Scent of a Woman" and the Dennis Hopper/Christopher Walken scene in "True Romance"... Sorry for derail. Just thinking about it ^^

I had 75 hours on my FF Tactics Advanced for GBA[sp].
:/ God, I need to get that game so bad. Played it for like 10 minutes when it came out and never played it since. >.< I'm so lazy with the handheld games thing. I've got 2 games for my DS, Brain Age and New Super Mario Brothers. Should pick up Tactics II and some other FF titles to play when I'm sitting around waiting for Campaign Battles to start and such...

#1 might have to be Xenogears, though I love FFVII, FFTactics, and Star Ocean 2 JUST as much. Main story of Xeno is way longer, though, which would make me choose it.
FFIX, Grandia 2, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Disgaea, Chrono Trigger, FFVI, Lufia 2, Skies of Arcadia and MArio RPG are all worth mentioning, though (out of the ones that I've played).

Skies of Arcadia wasn't so much an epic game as a fresh experience. Story was okay, characters were okay, battle system was okay. Ship battles turned heads though. It was a very nice experience, but nothing genre changing.

Let's see, ANY kind of RPG? In no particular order, here we go:
* Baldur's Gate - Looking forward to its "spiritual successor" Dragon Age.
* Tales of the Abyss - Underappreciated, I'm surprised more haven't played it.
* Tales of Vesperia - Looking forward towards the PS3 version with new content!
* Chrono Cross - Definitely got tons of undeserved flack by Chrono Trigger lovers - it was a great game on its own.
* Final Fantasy Tactics - This game stole my soul for a good two months and is one of the reasons why I tried out similar games such as the Super Robot Wars / Battle Moon Wars series (does anyone actually even play BMW here?)
* Xenogears - A classic and possibly the first RPG game that I played, ever.
I'm sure I'm missing a few but those are the ones that instantly popped up.

I agree, it doesn't really have the best of any worlds, but I still liked it a lot for some reason.

Yeah, me too. :/ This isn't all that uncommon of an attitude, but it seems like it's just because people played Cross expecting it to be Trigger 2.0. The game on its own was a lot of fun and had a really good soundtrack. OH AND BLACK CATS

Love the Tales games in general, mostly because of their unique battle system. I've tried some of the SRW games, but the really awesome ones I've played didn't have an english patch avail. D:

I'm almost afraid to see the response on this one, but...
Pokemon
This is my guilty pleasure. I normally would not admit that I play pokemon. But, since this is an RPG thread and I'm sure many of you have played Pokemon and wouldn't normally admit it in your social circles, I'm taking that brave step.
I think I have 200+ hours on Pearl.

I think I have 200+ hours on Pearl. I didn't recall seeing any of the Pokemon games on the list yet and I was actually pretty surprised. Good on ya. lol I never played them myself, and I always felt like I was missing out considering how popular they were and still are. (Just watched the movie on CN, lolol)

Harvest Moon. Anyone who wants to argue with me about the ones for SNES and PS1 not owning, we can fight to the death in a cage of barbed wire and lit torches.

My favorite rpg is Breath of Fire III, just something about a race of human/dragons and an epic battle of your forgotten race to kill god (although she wasn't truly a god, the brood were) was great.I miss it since its the last true rpg in my mind.
Any platform, old as hell or brand new, which is your number one super best favorite? I specify that because every time this question comes up I end up listing 4 or 5 great games and never end up making a decision. lol
Sadly I think everything that would be on a list for me is on SNES and PS1 for whatever reason, with Phantasy Star 4 being the Genesis exception. lol
I would say my #1 is a little strategy RPG called Final Fantasy Tactics. Perhaps you've heard of it? Yes this is also an excuse to meet other FFT nerds. Huzzah!
