my cat refuses to pee and poop in the same box so i had to get her these disposable pad things she uses to pee on. idk why she does this but she wont do #1 and #2 in the same box. on the bright side this makes her littler last longer since its never wet lol

Which type of litter do you use and do you know which type of litter she was on before you got her?

She may not be accustomed to the one you currently have.

Well, she's been using the same litter for 3 months before she got spayed with no issues.

Cat's are just wierd.I love mine to bits but every now and again one of them does a turd in the bath. Not sure which one though.Rest of the time it's in the litter tray and it's not just when its needing cleaning it's sporadic.

My cats are weird like that too. Normally for a kitten its good to keep 1 litter box per room. I would suggest to isolate your cat to one room until its fully trained. My cats have a fetish of peeing on clothes that are left on the floor. I just make sure to keep them out of my room, never leave clothes around the house, and clean litter box daily. BTW you might want to pick up something to remove the scent of their urine or it might keep peeing in the same spot.

I'd definitely go with the litter thing as well.

There might be something about the litter that's irritating her incision - could be too powdery or have some sort of chemical in it that isn't agreeing with her. Also, it's very important to keep the litter immaculately clean for a spayed cat, as their urine is especially acidic and stinky which might be hurting her as well.

one thing you need to keep in mind about fixing an animal. the reaction hormonally is pretty drastic. she may simply feel the need to mark her territory now. yes, thats more of a male cat trait, but now your female is physically neither male or female.

another thing- make sure when you do clean the pee areas that you use something that completely removes the smell. if possible, place the liter box near the area she peed in. then when she gets back to using the box, move it to a more desirable place

Sounds like actually changing out all the litter (dump it all, wash down the box, put all fresh back in) might be the biggest help.

my cat went pee on my clothes 1 time ever, i rubbed her nose in it while keeping eye contact just inches away from her face to face and scolding her with the threat of ending her life if she does it again (i would never actually hurt an animal and didnt hurt her). she has never done it again and has a huge amount of respect for me and my belongings now and is loyal like a dog to me ever since lol, she was a year old when i got her though and she's super smart so that helps to.

Cat's are really picky, some even more so than others, about where they do their business. Unlike a dog they won't go where it is dirty. Something to do with their animal instincts, and their #1/#2 scent attracts predators so they try to stay away from it.

We have 2 cats and if we don't scoop their litter every single day, one of them will take a dump right outside the box like telling us "clean up my poo!" (insert Stewie voice here)

Your cat will have had no idea why you were rubbing her nose in smelly, urine soaked clothes whilst scolding her, especially if it was some time after she had peed there. The fact she never did it again is a coincidence.

I have four cats that are rescue cats. I use 2 full size litter boxes that are open. (Do not use a closed box) Use clumping litter only that has a scent reducer. (I use Purina Tidy cats or Scoop Away) also a deodorizer (Tidy cats is what i use here too) when you finish cleaning boxes. It is also important to clean your box every 2 days minimum.

You must at all costs get all of the urine removed from the area the cat was in or it will return no matter what, if it's in a cloth couch it's probably ruined. If it's in the carpet you must clean the carpet really really well and unfortunately you must replace the pad under the carpet in that area.

Cats also react to your hormonal state at times that is why it goes for your laundry, because of your scent.

There's basically 2 kinds of litter, one that soaks up the pee and the smell and one that builds clumps.

for the one that soaks, you have to change the whole box very often, minimum twice a week. My cats didnt like that one at all, i changed to another litter, see below.

for the one that builds clumps, you can just remove the clumps and refill the cat litter. this is usually the cheaper way as you dont have to remove all of the litter.

Also you might want to try another litter. Seeing that the cat got spayed makes me think that you might want to use finer litter, cause the rougher litter might hurt the cat while peeing (however, the finer one is WAY more expensive).

Other people already mentioned: always use 1 extra box, always go cats +1 on boxes, some cats dont pee where they sh*t.

And one thing to check is if there is an infection somewhere. cats dont pee around on purpose, they always want to tell you something (in a weird way, i know). so >>something<< is wrong somewhere.

try the most obvious reasons i listed first, if all of that doesnt change anything, you can update the thread or PM me.
