while checking on items, I noticed some stats on them have an orange diamond (before the item special stats/effects are described) and others are like dimmed or grayed out, what does this mean?

like:

*Ice damage +5
*Banana damage +10

Grey = taken into consideration for the damage stat on your character sheet.
Orange = You have to figure out if its worth it yourself.

All in all Act V was tough as hell for a Pet Witchdoctor. I was a somewhat fresh Lv60 Witchdoc when I went into the exp pack on T2 made it to 66 before going to T1 and 68 before going to master.

Sadly for a Pet user the Mask of Jeram I got at Lv52 is still so strong I can't replace it till I get another one.

Went and Lv'd a Hammersader Was kinda tough till I realized resist all mattered. Now I've got like 10M toughness at Lv70 but my hits only do 1m so working on that.

Trying to do Adventure by joining a random group is frustrating. Seems 95% of the time I join one with all the bounties done and 5% of the time I join one where everyone is apparently recrafting gear for a month.

I find sticking it on Normal~whatever and just plowing through all the Bounties is the best way to collect loot.

Though if you're hovering on the brink of god mode, slamming it into Torment1 for that placebo Legendary drop slot can't hurt.

I've just gone and adapted a "Kill speed > Torment" method for collecting Horadrim bags now :o

Last night they upped the Legendary drop rate in torments. No clue how much I only did one Torment run afterwards since it was late when my undergeared friend left and i jumped into Torment.

I'm vaguely interested in getting back into D3 but I've been out of it for at least a year now, and all I have is my 60k DPS monk which admittedly wasn't even good at the time I stopped playing, but I could at least manage inferno MP1. I tried out torment1 yesterday and everything seems to have an absurd amount of HP, which obviously makes farming totally impractical. If I were to get back into the game, how difficult would it be for me to catch up and what would be the best way for me to do it?

Lower the difficulty to Expert or master and go kill stuff in Act III The Breach.

Should be fine. If not switch to normal(aka easy) and murder things till you get geared up enough to move up.

My monk is in the same spot actually I quit a long time ago cause the game sucked.

You know in Act 1, chapter 3, that rare mob that comes out of the door when you're on the way to the skeleton king. Farm that at high difficulties.

Can repeat and do over and over for rare/legendary loot.

Can use Ghom too if you have the zerging power. But I think that's just WDs atm.

I have been considering rocking out normal after last night. I got a set item for WD but it is from the newer set. I want to get Zunimasa still, not this... Jade Harvester or whatever ***. Since a lot o the legendaries I still want are from pro-RoS I guess farming pre-torment will actually help me get what I wanted.

Think there are just 2 versions of it but I might be wrong. I still have my Lv52 version.

Yeah I'm not sure. The database on the Website doesn't show it but the strategy guide does (I didn't buy the guide just happened to be shopping at Walmart).

Do difficulty levels no longer affect drop rates, aside from the torment-only legendaries? I noticed there's no change to MF levels regardless of which difficulty setting you pick. MF in general seems to be a stat they've largely done away with (NV gone, paragon MF gone, MF from MP levels gone)

If so I feel kind of stupid for trying to stick with the harder difficulty levels for so long, when I'm still a long, long way from one-shotting things in the harder difficulties
