47.9K seems rather impressive. I've been trying to get by with a bit over 7K on my monk =\
Finding balance is really tricky. Since i'm up front and personal with mobs, I cant focus all my gear into attack+, so i've been trying hard to find as much resist all+ gear while still trying to keep good DEX and VIT.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might improve on Monk?
I have thought about disregarding Vit a bit more while trying to boost DEX in hopes of achieving a more suitable Dodge build. Thoughts?
im on my phone so I can't log in and check my friends monk. But he's around 20k dps with pretty high armor and resists. He just says, stack lots of vitality and dex with resist all on each piece of armor. And have a good 1 hander with life on hit and good shield with 20%+ block with good stats.

Seems a broad question. Solo of Group? If Group are you gearing to purely tank or straight dps, etc etc. Even then put it into classes or goals rather. Generally on average most melee/tank setups I see get the basic's then improve. 30k+hp(more the better but not so focused that it kills other stats), 10k armor, 1k+ resist, then other things like dps(crit build or w/e you like), dex(dodge), block(i.e. Stormshield, Justice Lantern, Helm of Command) so on and so on.
I mostly solo. I have a couple friends I occasionally group with but not very often. I already have the 30K HP, and i'm currently around 3k armor and 350~ resist.
I can get by some elite/champ groups with relative ease, but it's the more difficult ones (Plagued in particular) that still give me trouble. I don't have a lot of gold currently, so I can't go willy nilly on the AH and farming has been slow and with little results. Most drops tend to be vendor fodder. How does one aquire those kinds of gaudy stats? The floor seems to be set quite high.
Basically what Volkom said. 5 stacking NV and killing as many elites possible. It's just a long process for the average player without some serious luck. You lower your odds even more solo killing if it's just for upgrade purposes. Solo I have killed prolly 1000+ elites over the last week(act 1 though) and seen 2-3 nice pieces that I put on AH because they weren't for the job I was trying to gear. Can always stack GF too and farm lower acts.
Best bet though is get a group. 4 people = 4x times the drops. If your on when I am I will help you out. Darkakuma#1450.
P.S. Looking for wizard gear if anyone comes across any. Reasonable prices though please. As I am not a made of gold like people on the AH seem to want to believe!
and ugh iono what to do with my DH now :|
at 47.9k DPS with no sharpshooter only 19k hp (so pretty much a glass cannon)
And i'm not sure what other gear I need to get to to raise my dps even higher. Guess I just need the same gear with better stats lol. maybe a better weapon.
iono, i'll post pics later today after I get out of class

Natalya's set
nope, that just increases survivability by sacrificing dps, unless i can find a really high end pieces with near cap on dex, but thats going to cost roughly 10~30mil each piece. and I don't have the patience nor time to farm that much gold. let alone $ to just buy it from some rmt lol
edit: i like ninja editing things.
but anyways, the main purpose of people having natalya's set is to take advantage of the totally broken 4th set piece bonus of 2 discipline regen passive. This basically allows DH's to pop smokescreen every 3.5 seconds or so continuously thus making them near invincible cuz while in smokesreen, nothing can touch you and you take 0 damage from shooting at reflect damage mobs
this is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE, i got dropped from 2 games in a row, :| and i was on a roll too. i would've been super pissed if a legendary/set piece dropped and i got booted >:[
oh anyways from earlier today, here's my stats.
Yeah yeah i know, low life/resists. but i'm glass cannon
i'll post stats on gear when i can login again. But besides that iono what gear to get. I'm pretty sure I can find better boots/belt/rings/amulet/weapon but its like derp, where i wanna start out first. The goal is to get to 2000 dex and atleast 40% crit rate
i don't really like athene but this is impressive and goes to show DH still is good
edit: inb4 he bought all his gear/was given to him
Isn't impressive. As it wasn't earned. Just like you stated at the bottom. It's the gear that's doing it not skill. Unless hitting smokescreen and hungering arrow all of a sudden became top notch skill.
The clown even goes as far as reporting people when they don't give enough gold(jokingly no doubt but a douche is a douche). And talks sh*t on people that ask him for gold LoL.
But anyways all jobs have the option to be just as broken though which now is just crit builds instead of IAS stacking. Until the next nerf.

Monk is hard! I've been farming/AH for a long time now and I'm just now able to get above 10k DPS. I think I'm sitting just below 14k DPS, with just shy of 800 resist across the board (still can't beat Act II inferno!)
The key is to take your best gear, and find something (farm/AH) that has the same stats or better, but make sure it has 150+ Dex on it ALSO.

That whole video was a joke. Noticed it right off the bat with the hilarious hair-do.
Guess I'll post my battletag here too, feel free to add me.

***gets expensive, too...
First off, Grats on your progress! I've yet to finish A1 on inferno, but i'm slowly getting there.
Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll continue farming and with some luck, i'll land a few nice pieces pretty soon.
Game worth buying? Good replay value/multiplayer, etc? D;
Content is limited, acts, storyline, are small and repeated in 4 different modes. Replay value is kinda a trick question? As it's the game in a nutshell(replaying the same content) and generally anything you do over and over it will get old. Not to turn you away as I still play and dunno what your concept of "good" is. Buy it if you have the cash I suppose.
Multiplayer is a joke. Max 4 man groups with almost a 99.9% chance of a random d*ckhead that will join then afk. Though if you have friends I am sure it could be enjoyable.
If you like grinding though this game is for you. Well unless you want to use the RMAH. As the game is basically still based on gear. Skill helps but gear as just show in that Athene vid can take down anything.
It's incredible how much money Bliz gets from the transfer of non-existent items they didn't even farm/find.
well to be fair, to run that service isn't free. They probably employee people to maintain it 24/7, customer service, have separate servers for it and security protocalls. I'm sure they're making a lot of money, but I'm sure they are working for it.
Oh I understand all of that. I'm saying that it should be one flat rate per transfer. That easily maintains server costs and any personnel cost (and sure, throw in some profit). It doesn't cost them $15 to transfer the pixels.
I'm not really interested in an argument, as there are no people more apologetic and willing to jump to their game-maker's defense than blizzard fan-boys, but it is a rip off.

oh I know, I agree with you, maybe blizzard was thinking if they did a % based, it would keep prices lower?
Just if I made 250 dollars of a lucky *** drop in a video game that I didn't even care of and had to give blizzard 40 of it, I'd gladly do it, and then enjoy the hell out of my 3DS and game that I would buy with it, lol
I don't know. Something bugs me about game developers that purposefully code item drop rates (and affix/suffix rates) to be exponentially low, in order to drive up farming times and items value.. Then turning around and profiting off a system of transferring those pixels. In a sense it's Blizzard itself selling the items to players, which is a bit messed up when they code the drop rates and the difficulty settings for each level.
Not to mention all of it has the potential to be obsolete with any given patch/expansion.
That being said: I am still enjoying the game, though Act3 inferno farming is still a bit slow for me (50k dps wizard). Still upgrading gear slowly but surely.
