8% seems like a rather high crit chance at least. I tend to get (what seems like) a lot of witch doctor off hands and something looks sort of impressive to me (I've never played WD), but apparently isn't and they never sell. Then again the market is so flooded that I can easily farm gold for better armor more quickly than I could hope to farm up good armor. Weapons it tends to go back and forth. I find something good and use it for a while until money burns a hole in my pocket and I buy something much better (and then promptly find something slightly better than what I just bought).

EDIT: saw that they reduced wear and tare durability loss by 50%. I was thinking it was ridiculous how frequently the yellow armor indicator would pop up when I was merely destroying boxes and obviously taking no damage at all.

Downed inferno Belial last night woot!... x2 DH and me as wiz. OMG this was haaaaaard...

In the process managed to refine my skill set once again.

I'm just kinda talking to myself but I love to share my accomplishments in this game!

My strat was go in on 1st 2 phases with:

Energy armor (Force armor)
Magic weapon (Force weap)
Diamond skin (Crystal skin)
Meteor (Star pact)
Spec Blades (Deep cuts)
Frost Nova (Cold snap)

Critical Mass
Evocation
Galvanizing ward

Using shield tank phase 1 and 2 (Stupid DHs are weaker then XI summoners!), then at the transition to phase 3 swap out frost nova for Hydra and shield to source for some extra DOT on Belial. I could still straight tank Belial ground smashes np, just had to run from the green explosion thingies.

Took me a while to figure out I need to swap skills mid fight.

Act3 OMG..... fodder/minions I can tank fine and the rares aren't so bad but I can't even put a dent in them... My DPS is around 20k buffed, but there is no way I can farm those lol.... I was in a 4-man group but I can't see it making that huge of a difference.

Anyone destroying Act3? What kinda DPS do I need? I'm aiming for about 8000-10000 armor and 800-1000 all resists, which I'm close on and think will be ok, but my DPS just fails @ 20k...

i'm at 42k dps now on my DH. I can do act 3 okay-ishly depending on what champ pack I come across. But just in terms of farming stuff, it isn't efficient for me yet. My guess probably around 30k dps for you would be substantial in just a solo/group situation, hoping that you have better people to do the damage

Your dps is low for one. I had 20k on wiz at level 55 with glass cannon and w/e that other 10-15% boost skill is depending on rune. Generally I scale it with arcane orb. Solo play and wack something with it. If I am not 2-3 shotting(trash mobs) then I know dps is lacking. Goal being for me to 1 shot with crit build. Not sure with other skills but I am sure you could figure it out and adjust gear as needed. Though I focus a lot more on offense as my goal is usually just not to get hit.

*edit* Also 4 man does make a difference. If anything the HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE hp boosts they get. Does make your dps seem small hence why I try to scale it in solo play first.

Ahh I'm running a melee/tank wiz, my skills/runes and passives are all maxed out IMO, nothing I can change and not get stomped. My goal is to down Inferno Diablo with this set up. I'm like the opposite of glass cannon set up lol...

I usually play co-op with a DH and hes the damage and I'm the tank, but now that my armor and resist are where I want them, I'm trying to slowly bring up my DPS without sacrificing survivability.

My gear needs A LOT of work I think

I guess it's just a matter of stacking more of what I've been stacking which is just cash-ola.

Off the top of my head I'm running +100% crit dmg, +20 crit chance. I'm a little over 2 attacks per second, and 1100 INT. I think my big problem is my weapon. I'm around 680 DPS on it, problem is I can't get any higher on that, while keeping a socket or LoH without shelling out mega bucks.

Start selling the rares you find (that are decent) on the AH instead of just npc'ing them. Also pay attention to what rings/amulets merchants have for sale. Some of them can be sold on the AH for quite a bit. I bought some rings for ~5k and put them on the AH for 60k, and within a couple hours they were sold.

Gold drop hasn't changed.

The only things you should be salvaging are level 60 things, those will always give you exquisite essence (1800+ each), with a high chance of iridescent tear (180+ each), and a low chance of Fiery Brimstone (130k+)

Yeah like always the real upgrades atm are completely inflated. Sucks short of scanning the AH over and over again. As far as being broke you just gotta farm.

I do it either in inferno playing the luck drop game or I stack gold find and do seigebreaker runs in nightmare or hell. Nightmare was netting 400-500k an hour if I am focused/not watching tv or something.
I did a couple runs just last night, so unless that 75% nerf was magically put in today it isn't true or it wasn't patched right.

Couple things you may want to mess around with with a melee mage setup like this, first of all look into specializing in a weapon damage type as this can affect your whole build.

Grabbing a cold weapon for instance, you will want to be using the spectral blade like you have been which will get the cold element bonus (ie chill) from your weapon, with that take the cold blooded passive and you get a 20% bonus to damage to chilled and frozen enemies (will stack nicely with your frost nova and chill/cold weapon spectral blades).

Alternatively you may want to try out an Arcane Damage combo with spectral blade using the Temporal Flux passive. This will slow your enemies 30% with any Arcane Damage done which your Blades now have, giving you more time to slice and dice, especially if you pick up the Thrown Blade rune and extend your reach even further.

With either of these setups I would also look into using one of the elemental "beams" that coincide with the weapon/passive combo, i.e. Disintegrate or Frost Ray, maybe give it a try in Meteor's spot (I've never used Meteor myself so I won't talk bad about something I haven't tried).

I will however say that I personally think that Critical Mass is Critical ***. It has something like a 11-33% proc rate on critical hits for some Wiz skills, I personally only know for sure it is 33% on Spectral Blades, I glanced over the others. So take into account you have your 20% Crit rate, and only 33% of those are going to proc your passive using your main attack. Usually by the time those stars line up my cooldowns are already good to go, better to use that passive on something that is going to be in effect all the time, instead of at a random chance.

As for spectral blades, deep cuts is the hands down best. It has an 88% coefficient on LoH which is also used for CM procs. Thrown blades is 33% only (I guess to offset the AoE)

CM is amazing if you use it right. Meteor is a must, cast at your feet, and any DoT crits (lasts for 3 seconds) are 100% proc to critical mass. If I catch at least 3-4 mobs in my meteor cast+blade spam all my recasts are instant always (including diamond skin and frost nova), try it, it's no joke. That's how I tank, perma skin, perma frozen mobs. (Here is where that cold dmg trait would be awsome since everything is always frozen, have to work that in..)

Like I said all my skills and runes are very well thought out and I doubt I'll have much room to budge there, thats why I'm having DPS problems.... guess I may be hitting the limitations of this build.

Oh, that is pretty nice about the crit > CM for meteor, that I did-not know. I'll have to give that a whirl at some point. Do you know if that Crit rate carries over with the Comet rune as well?

Well Mr.Bone I just tried out your melee wiz build and I gotta say I was impressed. I was surprised how durable it was and I was rocking some pretty turd gear. I pretty much just grabbed a bunch of 20k items off the AH and regeared (meaning not naked) my wiz, borrowed my life on hit weapon from my barb and went for it.

I haven't played my Wiz at all since week 1 so I was definitely rusty, had gotten used to sitting on my keyboard and rolling my buttcheek around while playing PS3 on Barb so paying attention is something I would need to learn to do again, but it was definitely a fun build.

Honestly after trying it out I don't think the suggestions I made would improve it. Thanks for sharing it!
