Now do it without help from everyone giving you gold, gear and other ***.

Sorry but I'm really not impressed.

That's like saying killing PW with 30+ people was'nt a legit kill too though :P
Lame, yes.
An actual win, yes.

Edit: Impressive still? I honestly think so.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose, however comparing something where you're getting your hand held and spoonfed a majority/all of your gear/gold to actually accomplishing a monumental task like defeating PW is pretty lulzy. It really isn't very impressive.

The difference though between those 30+ people is that they worked for it.

Kripp didn't really work for anything, he just got handed his ***and told to go.

Still wasn't world first, and according to bashiok there was actually multiple hc inferno diablo kills already, LOL.

I am actually greatly disgusted by people like Kripp who get spoonfed all this gear/gold. Not disgusted by Kripp, disgusted by the complete IDIOTS who help him.

I never watched his stream at all, just his youtube videos, but I keep hearing some people say he got everything handed to him, while others say he basicly farmed all the gold pretty much by himself\his team?

If you count killing the same goblin for hours and hours and hours a day as working your *** off then sure. It still doesn't circumvent the fact that he had a majority of his fans gearing him up.

Fact of the matter is Kripp himself doesn't deserve all of the praise.

Granted I'm sure he got some of his gold, but his team... yeah... they got him the majority of the gold/gear.

If you consider spam joining games that other people invited you to(12+ people helping)to kill the act2 goblin for weeks "farming your *** off", sure.

The people spamming bats are actually working for all of their own ***though, and I'm pretty sure that all 30 of the people who kill PW get the credit, not just one guy who happens to have the most popular youtube channel/stream and has a head the size of the universe claiming to be god because he did it.

Ten months to figure it out, give or take.
I don't remember 100% but I think they always ask you if there are any additional earnings that you haven't reported.

But tbh, I'm paranoid as f**k, so I'd prolly just report it anyway... or at least ask...

Better than it being found in an audit.

I think it has to be over a certain amount for it to count on your taxes. Like above $2500 or something.

Gross income; technically if you find 20 dollars on the street and you meet the reporting threshold you need to report that $20 as income.

In any event you report the gross amount you make off the RMAH (deductions for money or time involved getting this RMAH don't qualify as it's likely not a business transaction). It's just like getting an additional (unreported) paycheck but you don't have FICA taxes on.

I'd be careful about not reporting it, any reason to audit you could be bolstered by not reporting RMAH. It's not akin to receiving cash under the table, there is a definite electronic trail that Blizz will need to make in order to have these transactions go through.

*not intended to be real tax advice, as I am a student, and not a real tax accountant*

I would report it 100% but the chance of having to pay anything on it is pretty minimal. I've been following Julian Dibbell since '03/'04 and he started an article for "Wired" that turned into his life's work. It is the law of taxation on the sale of virtual loot. In 2004, he explained to the IRS how he made 11k playing UO and selling stuff on ebay. While it closely resembles the barter laws, everything the IRS acknowledges is strictly PHYSICAL GOODS (also, talk about it being services, yet the IRS claims that it provides nothing in return)! Now, I know this is eight years old, but the challenge of this type of income hasn't really ever been brought up. As someone in the game explained to Dibbell, "the Chinese farm the items, the Mexicans deliver the goods, and all bank accounts are in Europe" (Play Money 2006). Dibbell is currently in law school.

Some interesting questions are: since Blizzard constantly reminds us that D3 is their baby, are they the ones that ultimately pay the taxes? Will Blizzard send everyone who made a certain amount a 1099? Do we take in a list of transactions printed from Paypal?

Honestly, I don't think we have a definitive answer just yet. If this is off-topic or people would rather take this to PM, please do.

He didn't -not- work to achieve this goal. He spent a lot of time farming and practicing the game itself, sure he got some upgrades from fans but he always paid them (sometime it was a bro-deal but still paid them). Even if every piece of gear were handed to him, there is still a large amount of player skill involved in this achievement. I am 99% sure that if anyone one of you were just handed his account and thrown into act IV inferno with his group, you would have a very well-geared, but very dead barb on your hands. He -is- good at this game and for that matter so are people like Athene, whether you like their gear farming methods or not, please don't be ignorant to the point where you think you can slap on gear and beat inferno.

If you want to look down on him for his methods that is all on you, he didn't do anything that any of us are incapable of if we really wanted to. Hell we could set up goblin farms with just the people who post in this forum, but the fact is most of us aren't willing to do this.

Probably going to sound like I am white knighting or whatever but it is more of a don't hate the player hate the game kinda thing.

No I'll hate the player, because he's the issue. The fact is he's claiming to have done it, when in reality, it wasn't only him. Everyone else involved worked just as hard if not harder for that Diablo kill. It's *** up, and I don't understand why anyone would bother defending that.

Are you new to video games by any chance? Diablo3 takes almost no skill at all.

Barb is also by far the easiest class in the game, and melee is infinitely easier than ranged once geared properly(oh hey infinite gear and gold thanks dudes!!) So easiest class + infinite gear + gold + easiest role + easy game = skilled player?

Please tell me more about his past "progamer" accomplishments. Oh, you mean his "top DPS raiding hunter"? LOL! He srsly posts that on his stream info because he's a nobody and has no past accomplishments.

He is not good, he is a normal player, and will always be normal player. There is no "good" at diablo.

Why would I hate the game? The game isn't the dumb fanboys handing someone gear and gold so they can pretend how godly and awesome they are.

And no I wouldn't die immediately with a very well geared Act IV Inferno Barb. It's probably the easiest class to play by far, and it doesn't take amazing skizzazzles to know not to stand in the green stuff.

The reason I don't have an amazingly geared Barb in Act IV Inferno is ebcause, unlike Kripp, I don't have several thousand people to leech off of and countless hours in the day to play a boring *** "Whack the Goblin" grindfest.

I didn't see his team do the run, so I don't know if he stood up and shouted "YES I HAVE DONE IT, THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!"

Everything I see him posting says team nolife diablo down. He keeps talking about "we" beat it, "we" all had the gear "we" needed, etc.

I'm sorry but even if he said off the cuff that "I beat Diablo" it would be the same as me telling someone randomly "Yeah I have beaten ADL", clearly I didn't beat him, ***all I do is Pro/shell and maybe throw out 2 cures. It's just how people talk sometimes.

World first actually went to someone named Egomaniac I think his name is, was done within the first few weeks of Diablo 3 release, not sure if it was done legit like all of this was, but it's possible. Diablo is the easiest part of all of Act 4 and with quest/act jumping still available, who can say.

Please quit talking out your ***, He didn't leech off thousands of players, you're thinking of Athene who was basically given everything he has, estimated at 300 - 400mil gold.

Where as Kripp farmed with 3 people, and between the 4 people, they worked as a team when they didn't need something they'd either sell or pass it around, if 4 people farming goblins to progress is thousands of people, I'm missing something here.

Shocked you didn't bring up Krippi more than Kripp who lost 2 characters that were fully geared up before his Sorc. (Witch Doctor and Monk) but I believe all that gear was saved during the goblin farm cause no one in the group was Sorc. (Barb, Barb, WD, Barb was the static.)

I'm sure for a player of your skill and caliber that these tactics must seem simple and mundane. I am sure on your highly successful stream and youtube channel that you never use such silly tactics in front of your thousands of fans and subscribers.
