I wonder..should it still spawn if you had the chance to get it but never got it, then went back to get it later on? (I'm assuming yes, right?)

Not that it means anything, because it ends up depending on how often you die in a chapter or how many random dungeons you want to explore etc, but if you're speed running then yes Act 3 and 4 are shorter than 1 and 2 by a decent amount.
Act 1 Inferno is probably the longest act of your life though, because you'll probably farm it for the rest of eternity if you want to defeat act 2. the actual distance you have to cover in act 3 is absurd. and it's designed poorly.
2 levels of really long ramparts, the first catapult isnt until halfway through the second level. 3 floors of long long under the keep. 2 areas of long battlefield area interspersed with similarly designed bridges. 5 or 7 or so circular floors of underworld before a boss. everything looks similar, and its not broken up well, and the maps are long.

It is randomly occurring everytime you start a new session. Same thing with all the other ones, which is what makes it so annoying. 2 of the items occur in a randomly generated dungeon and then in a random chest or on a random monster. So you can have the dungeon finally appear and still not have the chest spawn or the monster won't be there... which is what happened to me.
(I finally did get it though)

Act 3 Inferno is driving me nuts on the Heart of Sin missions. Every group I get together with to attempt it ends up rage-quitting after a few tries. I've never even seen the boss there in Inferno yet. I got pretty good gear for a wizard too can usually take out normal mobs in 2-5 hits in Inferno. Got a few higher rolled Talrasha items off the AH already from gold made just farming Hell bosses with the nepelehm +MF bonus from killing elite mobs and resists are pretty high.
Almost every one of the public games has went like this:
- Doing great, whooping everything in sight quickly
- Enter tower levels and still doing fine
- "Hey that looks like a champion mob ahead!" Let's slaughter it!
- Oh look, there is 2-3 sets of champions together and a unique named monster behind them. WTF?
- Attempt to kill slowly, and like always they all link up
- Incoming "Lightning Sentry, Waller, Horde, Extra Health, Frozen, Invulnerable Minions, Vortex, Teleporter, Extra Quick" all at the same time on top of the unique monster, random other stuff, and the occasional treasure goblin which makes everyone become complete idiots forgetting about the swarm of champs around us.
- 3 or 4 times, wipe quickly and then "let's just run past them"
- Mobs get so scattered out and between teleporter, frozen and vortex we get no where.
- Everyone starts to randomly just quit now
- Rinse and Repeat
I had to solo a huge chunk of Act 2 and 3 Inferno because of this. Tried Heart of Sin and I'm always getting smashed with way to many overpowered mobs at the same time.
Two level 60's and I have to say, I'm already pretty bored with the game! Wizard on Act 3, DH on Act 1 Inferno. Act 1 drives me nuts, can't get myself to do it again for the DH >.<

Hell farming can actually net good stuff? I just got level 60 and whatnot yesterday and my friend basically told me to not bother wasting time trying to farm anything in lower than Inferno difficulty.

Good question.
I remember back on D2 act bosses on nightmare did drop good stuff for high levels, and Hell was'nt really needed when it came to farming (was better, but alot harder)
Is it still like this? Or just aim for 60 and use what I can find up until that point, and then farm\slowly work my way though inferno?

aim for 60. kill elite packs/mobs for 5 stacks of nephalem valor, and do act/story line bosses (like warden, the butcher, siegebreaker etc etc)

Hate those bees. I swear my hit box doubles in size for them lol. Kite around them be a solid 10 paces away and still get whacked. Not to mention the elite ones... annoying.
As far as inferno getting nerfed I am not really for it. Though my crappy graphic lag in some areas would be thankful for it my pride in beating challenges wouldn't. To each their own though. People will constantly complain either way. Make it easy and then what? Still stuck farming gear until pvp or new content which will still be gear dependent. At least for the moment.
Not to mention the common trend I always see in parties. People spamming the same 1-2 skills for the most part. No real setups just running into packs of mobs trying to beat them down before they beat you down and giving up after a death or two. Instead of gearing for roles. Personally that alone to me would increase people's progression 10 times faster.
Just my take on it though. Barb doing crowd control stun with drawl-in into rend then knockback, revenge to heal, proper tanking using walls, doorways etc, to funnel mobs for other dps to knock down. Just a example but people not working together is just setting up for failure. Had a 4 man barb pt the other night where we were pawning everything simplely by timing our stuns.
Hard to do in pickup groups I know because everyone feels entitled to be purely dps but something to think about maybe with friends. It's like what FFxi was once. Groups worked together, setting up SC's and MB's etc to be effective. Not the abyssea era of whack it down.

inferno, cuz even on inferno act 1 bosses don't really drop lv. 60 stuff. its basically act 3+ that drop good lvl 60 gear. but don't rush to 60 either. you want to farm up gear and gold (definitely gold) before you do inferno.
iono about you, but if you aren't tanky enough or if you don't do good dps. then when you play with friends on inferno you'll just die over and over. but if you do like 30k+ dps in inferno then you can solo act 1 pretty easily, of if you're a solid tank you can do act 1.
act 2+ is when it starts to become actually hard

I was talking with my friend this morning about DPS on Wizard, mainly about increased attack speed giving a false damage total on the inventory screen.
Attack speed % gives a huge boost to damage, but not all the spells a Wizard uses are affected by attack speed right? With the exception of signature spells I can only think that using attack speed increase will allow you to maybe case a little faster, but then your MP pool dries up and you have done the same damage only slightly faster.
The crap part about this line of thought is that when you already have an Attack Speed item, anything you compare it to the damage will show significantly lower. Kinda leaves me scratching my head when trying to determine if a piece with attack speed % is really better damage-wise.

Yes they do, act 4 has like 5, act 3 has like 8+ (including second levels of certain dungeons). Act 4's dungeons are incredibly small though and almost always spawn 2 or 3 of them, while act 3's don't spawn as often but are larger.

Yeah, but lets say for example I have a ring with 200 INT that I find, but I am wearing rings that have 100INT and 15% Attack Speed. Even though for my spells like blizzard and arcane orb attack speed doesn't really matter, the damage on my inventory screen will be lower by about a thousand.
For signature spells the attack speed helps with DPS though so we are debating which is better, and if it is worthwhile to bother having sets for both.
By volkom 2012-06-02 18:30:21
gear towards the ability you spam to deal damage, if attack speed helps with that, then find gear with your primary attribute and attack speed. but don't forget to find gear that also has that with vit, cuz you'll need it

Kinda leaves me scratching my head when trying to determine if a piece with attack speed % is really better damage-wise. In the case of spells like disintegrate, I think you are right. I have tested this and IAS does increase the rate at which the spell consumes your power. However, for single-use spells like blizzard, I don't think it increases the cost, and I think it increases the speed at which the damage ticks (meaning you do more damage over time). I think I should go test that second hypothesis...
Edit: did a little testing with blizzard. IAS does not increase the damage per tick OR the speed of the ticks. It only allows you to re-cast the spell sooner. I assume this is also the same of other single-cast spells. I might need to make some changes to my gear now...

Yeah sounds about right from what I have seen too. Was looking at the forums and apparently Venom Hydra is affected by attack speed too but none of the other hydras.

So hard to decide on gear now knowing this... Giving up IAS for more int would be awesome but my electrocute will suffer, and that's my main source of DPS.
It also severely devalues weapons that have high DPS values due to having IAS on them.
I made this thread for it to be about strategy, questions, helpful info, etc. for Diablo 3.
