Does anyone know if there is a way to show the increase (or decrease) of the HP, damage, and protection stats from an item you're looking at on the AH to the item in your character slot? The damage calculations for a wizard wand are starting to get way out there with damage+, INT+, attack speed+, DPS, and sockets. So far I can only buy the wand and compare them to my equipped in game. Hope I'm just missing a button on the AH to compare and they didn't just leave this feature out all together. The DPS on the AH is calculated with min-max damage, damage+, and attack speed+ (and ruby if in socket because it counts as more damage+)
What it doesn't count (I THINK) is your jobs primary damage adjustment stat. Wizard for instance INT, if the wand has +50 int, it *shouldn't* alter the DPS of the wand, so you'd be looking at the base DPS of the want prior to the stat modification, which, if it's +50 int, would be +50% more DPS from my understanding. Keeping that in mind you should be able to more accurately compare equipment to equipment you have without having to buy it. Also you can use 1 of the 3 search fields to add INT as a sort filter (say all wands with at least 30 INT)
Edit: though that's not quite right; +50 INT would be +50% more of your total DPS, not just the base DPS of the weapon
Aha. Was not aware the DPS shown on the AH had min-max, damage+, and attack speed calculated in. I had realized it did not calculate INT and sockets though.
Even still, what's a little confusing is say you have Wand A and B.
Wand A: DPS=75
Wand B: DPS=65 INT+30
(I'm not sure if those are good examples, if not throw in stats with a little closer damage to each other)
How can I quickly figure out which wand is better? As someone already stated, when you hesitate in this AH the item is gone by the time you make up your mind. The extra few seconds it would take to calculate total damage could cost you the buy. They need a number to pop up and say, here is your increase or decrease in stats from what you have equipped at the moment.

As a Monk in inferno, and with the recent hotfixes all I'm doing now is piecing together a resist set. Sitting at 40khp 9kdps and 232 all resists atm. Not really wanting to try until I get around 300 resist but I'm about out of funds.

The extra few seconds it would take to calculate total damage could cost you the buy. They need a number to pop up and say, here is your increase or decrease in stats from what you have equipped at the moment. The short answer is that DPS (more specifically damage and attack speed) are at the base of all damage calculation (except spell damage because they don't have a speed), so you will almost always do better with a higher DPS weapon (and +damage gear, among other things) than you will with primary stat modifiers unless you're talking about a minimal amount of DPS vs a very, very large amount of primary stat.
Between reading D3 maths online and my own testing, that's my conclusion anyway... I still have yet to figure out how exactly dual wield affects things, and things that might interest you most, specifically wizard it seems, I have virtually no knowledge of.

Think the easiest way to figure it out on a personal level would be to find a piece of gear with an open gem slot and test the differences in stats using different mods. Though I sure somewhere someone has the math done out just to lazy to look atm. Base damage and damage + gems having the highest boosts but its surely something like 1 damage = 5 int, str or whatever mod your character relies on.

Like FFXI there's no direct equivalence. For instance in the example provided, assuming no critical rate to keep things easy, and no other +damage items from rings etc, a character with a 65 DPS weapon and 30 INT would have an effective 84.5 DPS, which beats having a 75 DPS weapon with 0 INT. Obviously, a wizard with 0 INT isn't a very practical example, but that's what it would come out to.
More realistically however, if we have a wizard with 350 INT in other gear, the 65 DPS +30 INT weapon (380 total INT) will have (again ignoring crit) 312 DPS, where the 75 DPS weapon with 350 INT will pull ahead with 337.5 DPS. The 65 DPS weapon would need +70 INT to beat the 75 DPS weapon, and then only barely, and only while the equation doesn't change (such as getting more +INT gear, +damage gear, etc).

Also just my personal opinion but i think the lack of class selection was a turn off... Also why change necromancer to Witchdoctor? I admit that i had a laugh for a bit when i named my witchdoctor character billy and said "Arise chicken!" whenever i got into a battle...but after that i was like... i want necromancer again =/

Anybody got any tips on which skills\runes to use for a noob-Witch doctor? :p
Let's say mainly for solo-play if that matters!

What level are you? so I know what all you have access to.
This is what I found online that many people agree is the best solo build for WD

From what I can gather, Dual wielding simply averages the DPSs of your 2 weapons (whether it does this by alternating attacks or simply averaging each hit I'm not sure) and gives you a +15% attack speed bonus. In short, dual wielding is kind of similar to FFXI. It will only increase your DPS if the weapons have relatively similar DPS values. You also gain the benefits of all of the bonus stats on both weapons.
Also for reference, IAS% != Haste. 100% haste (in the ffxi sense) would mean infinite attack speed, IAS 100% just means you attack twice as fast. It is still an extremely potent stat though, and getting it on your rings/amulet/gloves is important if you want to hit those ridiculously high end-game DPS numbers.

Didn't really get a definitive answer as of yet, so just looking for more input.
Trying it before she buys it really isn't an option for her atm

To add to this, attack speed also greatly increases your resource generation speed, which is a major boon in itself.
