Aren't steps pretty accurate?

Also back on subject i'm really hoping ghorn gets something at 99(well all relics for that point) that makes them the best again, should go mythic > relic > empy for strength imo

You do realize that mythics were originally intended to be NOT as powerful as relics?

According to who? you? I've never seen this comment made by SE in any context.

I think that was said a verrrrrrrrrrrrrry long time ago. Mythics were made to be alternatives to relics or something or other.

Maybe just a common misconception, I don't remember though.

They originally said they weren't going to be as strong as relic weapons. I don't remember where, but I know it was said.

They also originally said they weren't going to be as hard to obtain, but lol.

Originally it was like this, i remember that too. They stated that Mythics were relic for people that were never going to have a real one sponsored from their LS. In their mind, a player was going to eventually step on a mythic requirments while doing other stuff, like einherjhar, assault, salvage, etc... and buy alexandrite, that before the caplift was at 2k-3k (about 90m vs 150+ for a relic).
So a mythic is something you can accomplish because requirments are infact rewards from other stuff that in most cases everyone get.
Relics are something that a large group do for one people only.

Always in their mind.

EDIT. oh, and imho finish that ghorn. :D

You obviously have no idea how magic affinity and magic attack bonus work.

Magian staves definitely beat out Laeveitinn, and I believe it gains an even higher advantage in Abyssea with atmas and stuff because of the way elemental affinity is calculated.

If you don't believe me idc.

This thread is in reference to a relic horn, I was originally contradicting an earlier statement made that mythics weren't designed to be better than a relic. However, Idk about 90-95, but when tested @ 85, the trial staves just barely (by an avg of 42.5pts) beat a dorje, and the Mythic is significantly better than one of those. I'm not gonna argue though. I neither have a Mythic yet, nor know of anyone that does. I would leave the argument to those that do though.

Yes, it's not just the macc. The affinity bonus is calculated in a a special way. Look here~ Basically,

Quote:
Staves that say things like "Elemental Affinity: Magic Damage +X" actually give an (X+1)*5% bonus to spell damage of the matching element. This is applied in a separate step from other bonuses. In the case of the "weak" element, they receive a penalty equal to what the bonus would have been otherwise.

Quote:
Staves with "Elemental Affinity: Magic Accuracy +5" actually give (X+1)*5 Magic Accuracy to spells of the appropriate element. They are assumed to give an equal penalty to the "weak" element.

I'm pretty sure I know what test you're talking about, and the person who did it did the test completely wrong. Or rather, they did it in such a way that benefited Dorje (IE naked and ***).

Yeah, it was really skewed in a way that was giving false info. And you really dont need to own a mythic to know which is better. Just math.

I can do the math if you give me a random dINT number, I don't know what a typical dINT would be for BLM.

I have 100 marbles.

Now I equip a staff that says "Marble Bonus +40"
So I have 140 marbles.
I've increased my marbles by 40%.

I have 100 marbles.

Now I equip a staff with "Marble Affinity +6"
So now I have 135 marbles.
I've increased my marbles by 35%.

But wait, I'm playing BLM, so I have "Marble Bonus VI" for a total of Marbles+40 when I'm standing around naked. So let's redo that.

I have 100+40 marbles.
Now I equip a staff that says Marble Bonus+40.
So I have 180 marbles.
I've increased my marbles by 28%.

I have 100+40 marbles.
Now I equip a staff with Marble Affinity +6
So I have 189 marbles.
I've increased my marbles by 35%.

And, I have more marbles than I did when I equipped the Marble Bonus +40 staff.

Either way, I have marbles, which you have clearly lost, Liltrouble :/

marble stuff

Basically, the more marbles you have, the more marbles you'll get from Marble Affinity vs straight +Marbles.
