I strongly believe that all Religion should be taught as Mythology.

As for Creationism, I die a little every time it's taught in a "science" class. It has no evidence to support it, and it makes about as much sense to teach German in said class as it does Creationism.

I have no particular problem with it being brought up in classes specifically about Religion or Mythology, so long as the teacher makes it a point to let students know that it has no basis in fact, and no place in this world as a legitimate field of study.

Really though, if you want to learn about religion; do some research into the plethora of them that exist in this world. If any of them interest you, attend services. Schools shouldn't offer anything more than brief mentions about ALL Religions, and it should be legally punishable to teach with bias on the subject.

Wow, this makes a lot of sense to me.

I never knew that teachers were teaching falsified information as fact, that's disgusting

it's got tons of evidence to support it, unlike the faith of evolutionism

Then evolution should be taught in Mythology courses along with religion.

And it shouldn't be all religions. Things like Islam, Buddhism, and Atheism sure but Christianity (the only true religion) should be taught as a mandatory class.

I don't know how people can think we just appeared one day and started evolving from monkeys.

I mean if we really evolved from monkeys why can't they talk? And where are the creatures in between monkeys and us.

Creationism is fundamental skepticism applied to one specific subject. It shouldn't be taught.

There's no proof at all for evolution. NOT ONE OUNCE.

Whereas the church has an established pedigree stretching way back into ol' TIMES.

So...creationism should be taught exclusively, probably.

thank God someone has the sense to be skeptical of junk science.

there IS no missing link, as detailed below

just as there shouldn't be, seeing as we are approximately 6000 years old

I'm agnostic, So is Lolserj. Sev has been a Christian forever, I'd suggest looking back in old threads before assuming people with legitimate views are trolling.

The only reason I'm +1ing sev is because I'm really happy he's actually defending his corner. He always feels like he's outnumbered in religion threads and I don't like people picking on other people when it's a subjective topic.

My mother (bless her soul) actually got me to believe in the good Lord before he took her in a traffic accident last month.

I don't know how I would be able to live without God in my life now.

I'm sure she wouldn't want me to live on feeling sorry with my self. So praise the Lord for giving her eternal life with him. I can only hope she'll be there to greet me when the good Lord takes me too.

There's a difference between arguing a minority viewpoint, and being picked on. Just because you hold an unfavorable opinion doesn't mean you're being picked on, it means you're standing with an unpopular viewpoint. Granted a lot of people post saying "lolreligion stupid" and spam it, but seeing as their arguments are uninteresting I pretty much ignore them, as should anyone who takes the topic seriously.

I'd rather read an unpopular or wrong argument that has interesting insights than one that offers nothing new and argues a strong position.

In any event, I haven't seen anyone in the US discuss how this is a states' issue seeing as states set the academic requirements for their public schools.

Schools are in place to train people to be able to work an function in our capitalist economy. If states feel that creationism is a worthwhile topic to create productive workers then allow them to include it. If you live in a state or region that values religion or creationism as a substantial moral influence, sure allow it taught. If you're in a state or region that doesn't put so much weight in the influence of religion then there is no reason to force students to learn competing theories. If a parent still believes that religion is worthwhile then there are plenty opportunities to learn about it. I took religion class for many years on saturday and sunday, without ever having to ask my school for it.

Arguing this as if it's a federal issue is kind of pointless because it isn't. Some places will teach creationism, others will not.
Gee, that sure is depressing. \.\

I like how the idea of humans evolving from primates is patently absurd but the notion of woman being created from the rib of a man after God played the matching game with Adam and all his creations is to be taken as truth at face value.

If every woman had one less rib than a man (it was believed for a long time to be true) perhaps the notion could be entertained but as it stands, we have more evidence leaning towards evolution than one specific claim from one specific religion among a sea of other creation myths.

You also posted Kent Hovind material. Really? Even fellow creationists tend to avoid Hovinds "science".

I'm not even sure The Church preaches Creationism anymore. I specificially remember an encyclical discussing the concepts of "theistic evolution" or "guided evolution" and their acceptability with the leity.

I do find it amusing how hard some people will work at calling theists "stupid" though (not directed at OP).

I also am amused by someone named sandalphon so vehemently raging over a topic that hadn't even had someone speak up yet.

Lastly, insert any comments i've made in the last 300 exhausting religion threads on this forum. I miss vinvv.

I'm sorry Lolserj, I didn't realise.

I understand completely, if something like that happened it's only right to draw strength from faith.

I respect anyone with a strong enough resolve to openly admit to being Christian in today's society. Around here, admitting your a Christian is essentially admitting you're gay or at least in a minority. You'll be bullied in schools and ostracised.

That's why I think It's a bad idea to remove it from a curriculum, at the end of a day, if you don't believe in it then just don't listen.

Churches who preach anything but our Lord creating us how we are now are not real Christian churches.

Please refrain from mixing this up in the future.

Considering the base of human evolution is that we share something like 99% of our genetic make-up with chimps, I'd say there is very little difference.

So you see absolutely no discerning differences between humans and chimps, no differences worth pointing out?
