Annoying Regional Accents...

I work in a call center...
I wish I knew enough about languages to tell what country the rep is in dialect. The india-pakistan region reps are frustrating because of their speaking speed, misprounciation of common words and that they just don't "get it" when you tell them the call is being interpreted. 85% of the time I have to resort to asking them to spell a words several times before I can understand them. Regular customer service can be a headache, technical support is a nightmare and Microsoft OS issues are hell!.

IN the last 2-3 month there is a different "asian" accent showing up. These new ppl only understand about 40% of what is said.. making it 3x's harder to re-direct them to what was really meant when they get it wrong. More often then not you have to ask for a supervisor to get anything complex sorted out.

AS far as accents in the US.... Applachian mountain and surrounding foot hills regions. Some of these people are so isolated, that the meanings of some words are known only by those from the area, making it really hard to understand what they are trying to say. The next in line is a southern texas accent, followed by a strong cajun or Brooklyn accent

I'm not really sure if I have an accent that I dislike if we're talking regionally... (I live in the south eastern US)

If anything, what I find most annoying is probably the fact that I have lived half my life in New England and half my life in the South. So, when I get around some one who is very southern, I start picking up on it immediately. Especially if I get into a conversation and get excited over it. I'm told by my friends on Vent that I have an southern accent but I don't hear it <.>

Although, I have found that when I am having a one on one conversations with someone that northern part of me kicks in and I actually have a tendency to slow down when I talk and actually form my sentences clearly and use proper English that doesn't include the word "Y'all" and "Ain't".

What's worst of all though are those moments when I mix the two accents together and the sentence comes out something along the lines of "I'll give Y'all a quata(Quarter) if you climb up on that ruff (Roof). If you don't I ain't going to give you anything."

I have an accent pegged for those who hail from the middle-west of the USA, Indiana,Ohio,Michigan,Kentucky,Pennsylvania...etc

I really try to hide those southernisms. I do catch myself with the occasional "ya'll" or pronouncing "your" as "yer".

I've noticed I say 'fer' for 'for' when I use it in the middle of a sentence. :/

When I went to Salzburg and Vienna, Austria, I hated their accents! Too much from the back of the throat. It sounds weird. I could barely understand them.

I live in Seattle and work at both college and NFL football games. There are a couple of refs in each league that always say "Warshington", always. There's a really loud chuckle-grown whenever the ref says it in the press box.

Lol they are hard to understand for us Germans as well xD
Regional accents in Germany i think the worst are actually Bavarian and Saxon @.@

Bravarian was a little tough too, but I didn't mind it as much after going to Austria.

My mom taught me to speak "high" German. I guess that's the equivalent to the Queen's English.

I been working in call center for the past couple of years, I have an accent of my own, I am mexican after all, but it might sound a bit racist but everyone have an accent, afro-americans been the worst to deal with "fo-oh-fo" its just annoying as texans, new yorkers are a pain in the rear to get what they saying, chinesse trying to sound afro, middle easters with their "Do you get it" , regular asians that don't try to sound afro with their "Yes?!" at the end of every word, mexicans that pronounce their names like if it was an english name and more when I correct them about it (lol sorry my own ppl makes me crack), I want to say that californians sound the most decent-less accented of all, all of the east-south east stats .. YUP, canadians are just funky, the ones I just cannot deal with are philipinos and indians. Hardly get any caller from UK but I can tell you this, who ever says "I DO NOT HAVE AN ACCENT" needs to wake up ;3

I wish I could find out but I don't have contact with my biological fathers family. Also as far as my moms side can tell you(the ones who are alive) they will just talk about how well off our family was before the civil war and at one point they owned 27 seven slaves....no one ever cared for that kinda stuff. the only person I can accurately trace is my step-dads grandfather who came to the states from Sweden at 18. :/ It's just not something my family cares for. Also all the people who would know died before I was born or before I was old enough to care about my heritage. So the stuff I have to go off is very pieced. :/
