I doesn't matter which country or what language there is always that regional dialect that makes you cringe.

Mine include the Pineywoods Deep East Texas accent, CenLA, Creole, and the Northern Mid-West accent (think Minnesota and Wisconsin).

There's no particular accent that I find irritating, but pronunciations of certain words drives me nuts. Like one of my aunts puts the emphasis on the first syllable when she says 'adult.' So instead of uh-DULT, it's like AAH-dult. Then she makes the A sound like when doctors make you stick your tongue out instead of 'uh.' Makes me crazy!

Also, 'warshclothes.' There is no R in washcloth, but I hear it all the time and it makes me nuts! xD

Have you ever heard someone from Wisconsin speak? Other than in movies where they have the stereotypical Canadian accent?

Imo people from that area have a more "general" accent.

They don't really make me cringe, but I get annoyed when trying to listen to someone with a thick Spanish accent. There's a lady at work who I don't like to talk to on the phone because I can't understand her. I feel like a *** when I have to make her repeat things 2-3 times.

Then there's the whole puh-jam-uhs verses puh-jaw-mus debate. This isn't a shark story! There are no 'jaws' in pajamas!

The "warsh" one makes me want to punch my ears ><
Also, heavy Chicago accents annoy me...

Reminds me of a job I had one time where I had to talk to a bunch of Spanish people over the phone about auto parts and large construction machines. I hate making people repeat things more than 2-3 times so after that I would just guess.

I know it's not everyone :(, and yes I have. Some of our family friends are from Wisconsin, and they do have that stereotypical accent.

Same goes for me. Everyone I know here in Wisconsin has the generic American "accent".

edit: Southern Wisconsin.

People in Minnesota say "bag" wrong. It sounds more like beg when they say it.
A girl I know from the UK thought that about Wisconsinites as well, but I definitely don't say it that way.

I live in Minnesota, right on the Mississippi river and I have family on the other side of the river and no one I know has a Canadian accent.

Everyone from the past generation in New York.

Fixed, because most younger people (particularly my generation) are beginning to lose the heavy "New Yawka" accent, as they pick up "traditional" accents from media.

I know because I'm from New York, and most people I went to school with didn't have a noticeable accent. Some people who came from New York City specifically, seemed a little more prone to the accent.

Anyways, I think West Houstonians have an annoying accent and dialect (and I live in Houston now).
