I think asking for advice is a bit redundant. Asking others for their experiences doesn't work, IMO. Trial and error. If you can't get your hands dirty and figure out what works for you... well, I hope you're cool with settling.
God, I still hate thinking about the embarrassments I've gone through. :/ Not to mention the ones I'm still due for.

I realize this is totally off topic. Agree on what you said though. Still think internet dating is a horrible idea though. Better to have some sort of advice than to go out and act like a total idiot and ***. Shouldn't take it literally, should take from it what you feel like you should.

But to the point, internet dating has proven itself incredibly useful, from a personal angle, my aunt met her husband on a dating site. She's not too attractive and had two kids at the time and was a single mother, her chances of meeting someone irl were very low. But she's met a good guy and I'm happy for her. Personally, I find it a little weird, yeah, but its really not. I got lucky and met my girl in hs, but if we ever split I'd have a hard time finding someone new sitting on forums and FF all day.
