i kinda feel like an age gap between two men is less weird than a huge age gap between a man and a woman

It's outside a normal comfort zone for whats considered to be age appropriate relationships. If it works though it works. Besides if we all did what was inside the comfort zone for everyone else there wouldn't be much left to do lol... I am still against adults dating minors though (yes I am aware this doesn't apply to your case ^^)

As far as I know, the rule is older person's age divided by two, round up, plus seven years.

36 / 2 = 18 + 7 = 25.

So 23 and 36 is slightly out of the comfort zone but not too bad. Now, my dad is 60 and his girlfriend is 31, which is also out of the comfort zone but nobody gives him a hard time.

I have an old neighbor from elementary school that i recently found out through facebook that got married to a 40 year old man, and she is only 20. Weird.

I understand that to a point as well. Basically men more or less get with younger women why? let's just put it out there. Older guy can't get girl his age for obvious reasons. He isn't even looking for relationship. Younger girl usually gets impression of I'm mature and yadda yadda. Guy usually uses girl. I've seen it more than enough. My own friends doing it even ogling over other friends sisters who were 3 years younger and some still. It's more or less for sexual reasons.

Same reason a women in her 30's goes after younger men. But in that case.. the younger guy is in the same mindset so it's not like it's being taken advantage of as much, or exploiting the person's mentality to get what they want. In the case of 2 guys it's kinda like the cougar situation with younger guy. I've talked with people ik who are gay about that thing. The guys or women who were bi seemed to have a near same argument as I did. The ones who were 100% into same sex didn't see it that way.

While that sounds like babble that could hold some ground.

Does any one else find it weird that a older woman say in her 40s can date an 18yr old guy and no one bats an eyelid? he gets called toy boy etc etc but yet a man in his 40 dates a 18yr old bit of eye candy and he gets condemned?

Read my post above. It basically has to do with sexual peak which women reach around 30's to 40's. Men late teens and ends around 20's. Men use younger women on average for that reason for their unstable mind due to puberty hitting in.

Just wanted to chime in on a few things

Talking to/asking out girls: As was mentioned earlier, giving yourself opportunities to meet women and talking to them like human beings are key (in my experience). Part time job at a bookstore/coffeeshop works wonders. Complement them on an article of clothing and ask where they got it,(for an upcoming female friends bday or whatever) comment on the book they're buying, anything to strike up a conversation (establish report). Ask their name, use it the next few times you see them, and if there's any chemistry ask them out for a cup of coffee/beer/monkeyjizz. I get nervous as hell and blush when I do this, but also (most times) get the phone number. Don't stalk, just strike up convo with a lot of cute girls, don't have unreasonable expectations, and as BBB said sometimes the girls will come to you.

Chivalry: I hold the door for my friends and my family. I don't see why I shouldn't do it for a girl I'm dating. I want to make life easier for the people that I care about. Very big difference between being courteous and being walked all over.

<< I only peeked in here because of the last page, but ... yeah. XD I'm 25 and my fiance is 44. Mind you, he doesn't look his age - then again, where we live at ( mostly a vacation town ) there tends to be an influx of older men / younger women.

Only problem I have is that my best friend is all right, doesn't question my love, but still thinks it's gross, XDDD. Where as my mother loves him to pieces.

would anyone else find it weird, say in your late 30s [lets set a scenario] with your friends, dating a 18yr old~ talking about music [down your local pub] and then your friends ask the person your dating, and you receive a response "i dunno i wasnt around" i would feel awkward. I could never date a guy pre 30. Hobbies/Interests/personality big things for me~
