I can do 123456 fine with my left hand but when I start moving to the right it's foreign territory for me.
Then using the right side of the keyboard for shortcuts to the menu, map, abilities, and more is just aggravating. I don't want to look down at the keyboard, and I don't want to let go of my mouse. I don't like using keyboard + mouse for anything except shooters.
Either 100% keyboard or controller. Looking forward to being able to use the keyboard for the camera again in XIV beta. If you can somehow fit all your skills on a controller, go for it.

I think I made it to the Hydra :| but not sure(it spews multiple things that look like spit) what level should I be to try and take that on with just a sword and shield?(and anything else I should need for that fight?)

You should get the rusted iron ring before taking on the Hydra if you prefer not to use bows/magic.
It will allow you to run freely in water w/o slowing you down.

I was terrified of those at first :| then I realized they weren't so bad. So tons of arrows and standing still with a shield got it! :o
