Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
By Aeyela 2012-12-24 11:38:15
Being a proper noun, whichever way any culture spells it is the correct spelling! No coming back from this one, that's a slam dunk!
What an epic page opening gif!

If it's of any consolation, I live in a very big Italian district where 90% of the English speaking population are Italian. I've never once heard someone call it a "lasagne," nor have I ever heard anyone say they're eating a cannolo, panino ect... The grammar is wrong on most of it but it just flows better, so we say it anyway.

-crawls back to bed and plays more FFX2- I wanna replay FFX-2 so bad, but I'm waiting on the translation of International + Last Mission instead. :x oddly enough, X-2, has been way easier to sit and play than XIII-2 has been.. gameplay, characters and story.
last time I played it, made it midway to chapter 3 (got pissed I couldn't win minigame for the Gambler sphere) and gave up (blaming this on FFXI as well)
barely reached chap.3 last night (3am) and already up +10% and more levels than my old save file lol. Stop tempting me to play now! The translation patch won't be done until after Christmas, and I want the Psychic dress-sphere! >:x

Is it because you don't like having to control the camera at all times? That it doesn't move for you?
I think the controls are fine, just never understood this complaint.

Wouldn't they be the same when spoken aloud?

Well, if anyone is a master of English, they should be able to read this without a problem. Hwæt! We Gardena in geardagum, þeodcyninga, þrym gefrunon, hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon. Oft Scyld Scefing sceaþena þreatum, monegum mægþum, meodosetla ofteah, egsode eorlas.

Cannolo and panino would be correct if you're only eating one. But I am aware american people have crippled the language going along with what it sounded better to their foreign ears. It's a phenomenon that has happened everywhere between different cultures and that eventually leads to an evolution of the language(in this case an evolution of american english, not italian).

sagi what colors do they come in?
Subligars can come in all colours of the rainbow! We use pigment from animal skin and plants to dye the materials used in contruction. The most popular is brilliant white as everybody wants a Sagi subligar replica!

It amazed me when learning French just how much of the English language originates from it. Then I was even more amazed when I thought about how much we've butchered the words that were incorporated into English...

Quote: Lasagna vs. lasagne
For the flat, wide pasta and the dish made from such pasta, North American English speakers use lasagna. English speakers from outside North America usually use lasagne. Other than the spelling, there is no difference between the words in English.
The word comes from Italian, of course. In that language, lasagna is the singular noun and lasagne is the plural. The word first appeared in English in the 19th century, but the dish did not become popular in English-speaking countries (the U.S. first, then elsewhere) until the second half of the 20th century. Not sure why I'm jumping into this argument... little late there miss purple

Yeah, pretty sure the bible was originally in ancient Hebrew or some other impossible gibberish. I doubt if English was even its first translation. And I doubt if any of the translations are 100% correct. But it's a good movie anyhow. ^^ Everyone loves Eliza!

English is a fairly young language who's stolen pretty much everything from latin, german, nordic..

pretty sure it originated in ancient word by mouth, and probably some Egyptian.
Probably a lot of Hebrew as well.
Probably some Greek.
considering it's a compilation of myths that stole their stories from everywhere else.

Well my French keeps telling me to pronounce lasagne as "lah-zaign." I get mixed up on all 3 languages, it's hard being Italian living in a French province in an English country lol...

FFX has an international ver as well ?
Sure does. Came with a bunch of additional bosses: the Dark Aeons, Nemesis (I think? The big beasty at the end of the monster arena) and Penance. Penance was an epic battle. Took me nearly an hour to win and about another thirty to level up sufficiently...

I prefer left and right camera controls being inverted, or the opposite of what they are by default. I can't seem to change them.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
