I think you're misunderstanding, or I am. You mean your hand hurts from over using it right? In which case, from experience with training my wrists and fingers to handle high speed drumming, you'll want to keep gently exercising them so that you're building up the muscle's tolerance. If you stop and let it heal then you'll be in this position again the next time you regularly over exercise them.
