Not sure if anyone responded, because I'm not done backreading, but I just wanted to chime in. If you can get little bits of colored tape (or even just plain tape that you can write on) you can wrap it around the ends to color code them/label them. Then they can look like spaghetti back there and you can still tell them apart.

It's not usually this bad; it's just because I'm transferring stuff from my old 300gb HD to my new 2tb one, I've been switching USBs all over the place to use stuff. :x
