I don't know them or the history so I can't really say, still seems kinda extreme to me though.. But there's so few 'preferable' outcomes to a situation where a dog is no longer wanted by the family that had it.. If it's already grown, chances are pretty damned good it will never find a loving home.. Then there's really two choices, take it somewhere off in the middle of nowhere and leave it, hope it learns to fend for itself (it probably won't) or take it to the pound or adoption shelter or whatever, where it will probably spend a few months in a small cage before eventually being killed..
Just not a good situation to be in at all... No good can really come of it.

Yea, was one of my suggestions, asked if they had any firecrackers since 4th of July is around the corner
All the firecrackers are in the hands of football fans/hooligans throwing them on the pitch at the Euro games right now >_>

I wouldn't mind. I don't have enough hands to pet them all. Makes me sad.

All this soccer talk blerg <.< Right now anything can be tied to soccer..
Actually, for the next few weeks I imagine, anything will be tied to soccer..
Every single time some big soccer game is on, 9gag is flooded with stupid ***about soccer for weeks
FFS I still come across pics of that guy who missed the shot that was wide open that I didn't even know about until over 9,000 9gag pics about someone missing a target or being way off target, later...
That was at least a month or two ago.. But I'm leaning more towards 6..

I mean, being in Texas, don't tell me you can't go 3 miles without seeing something related to the Cowboys, even in the off season. That's what it was like in WI with the Packers. Hell, the Pack is huge even here.
Okay, maybe Hockey. One day we'll have our comeuppance. One day...

We did what we thought was best. The dogs were 5 years old and one of them had already attacked the neighbors daughter. Its not like we didn't want them, they were sweet. but when you have lots of young ones in the family who never come over because the dogs might rip their faces off you have to do something. But I'm done talking about this, its the past and nothing can be changed.

That should not even be an option for any reasonable person. No domestic animal can learn to fend for itself in the wild, leaving a dog to die a slow painful death from starvation, infection, injury and/or eaten alive is the worst form of cruelty, not to mention shirking the responsibility of the animal. At least if it is put down at a pound it will die at in an ethical manner.

You can.. Cowboys used to be the big team and everyone loved them, all the sports ***sold in wal-mart was Cowboys related, you couldn't come across one single sports converstaion without it being brought up 100 times..
Their time is long gone now though.. It's basically been accepted around here than the Cowboys heyday is long over and never coming back.. It's nothing more than the ghost of a memory of a once great team..
All that said.. I hate sports, I hate them all, I don't find any of it entertaining to watch and it's barely entertaining when you're in it and can actually gather enough people to qualify as a game (and not just a few people tossing a ball around aimlessly)..
Finally to the final part of the question (as I deem it anyways if I missed anything feel free to point it out <_<) is soccer different from all the other sports? Yes.. It is.. Although how isn't what you'd expect probably..
No I don't just hate soccer cuz it's foreign.. I hate it cuz it's a sport, it gets the same treatment football or baseball get.. However, soccer (and hockey to an extent) is relatively new, and therefore is not assimilated into 'Americanism' (don't care if it was a word, it is now.) as much as say football or baseball.. I can tolerate either of those a lot easier than I can hockey or soccer, and the only reason I can think of that would explain that, is simply what I said above, it's newer, from a young, young age we're taught to love football and baseball and basketball (to a lesser extent) not so much the rest..

At least if it is put down at a pound it will die at in an ethical manner. No option in that situation is an easy one.. However I'd be quick to warn to you about judging people who see mother nature taking it's course opposed to man made death as the easier of the two.. I mean that whole argument can be flipped easily, and show how anyone who puts a dog to sleep is nothing more than a murderer.. Just because you ~think~ the drugs make it painless and quick and that the animal doesn't suffer, doesn't mean it doesn't...
I tend to lean towards mother nature taking it's course opposed to just deciding "yep, he's just gonna have to die, it's too inconvenient/expensive for me for him to live".. The only time I really see putting down an animal as humane is in the same circumstances I'd see putting a person down as huamne.. When there's pretty much 0 chance of recovery, but the death is likely to be extended and painful.

the reason you see so much about soccer is because it's the world's sport, the US is just a unique little snowflake in having handegg as their top sport.

When it comes to sports, I actually enjoy many of them. However, what I don't enjoy is the amount of currency pumped into professional sports. Out of everything, there's an episode of "Cosby" I've seen that stays in my mind. Doug E. Doug plays a teacher who has a fantasy where teachers are like superstars and get paid millions of dollars while professional sports players get barely minimum wage. And if we were to base our economy on what's important instead of popular, it would probably be that way. I just think it's ridiculous that we have people struggling to get by, whereas someone else who has a little more sports prowess gets millions on a whim, to which he/she spends it on trifles and does the occasional community service to make it seem like they're working for the community. People argue that they earn their money by being the best at what they do, but let's be frank. It's a game. There's no point to it aside from entertainment. And if people would accept it this way instead of embracing it entirely as a motivation for their life, maybe we could deflate those salaries a bit. /sigh In a perfect world, Slip. In a perfect world.

I find football extremely boring to watch because all they do is pass but playing it with friends is a LOT different, it's actually fun then. American football is 100x more fun to watch though since people actually get hurt >.> lol

Well not like broken bones but knocked around a bit. They never really hit each other and pushing someone (to get the ball) just gets them a yellow card. It makes it kinda boring :/

I hate it when people abandon animals. Apparently, it's been happening more and more lately.
The first time I actually saw it happen was when we were driving through Willamena, Arakansas when we were traveling back from a canoe trip. Gorgeous chocolate lab that looked relatively young. I saw the people just simply drive off. It took a few minutes to register that the owners weren't coming back. There are BEARS, COUGARS, and BOBCATS in those woods! There was no way in Hell that young lab would have survived!
My BF and I snatched up that sweet, little lab and took him to the ASPCA when we got back to Dallas. I'll never understand why people will just abandon animals when there are rescues, the ASPCA, and shelters.
EDIT: I wish people would realize that animals aren't simply a Christmas/Birthday present. They are a part of your family, and when you adopt or buy an animal you are responsible for their livelihood!

Well at least that's my experience..
I would like to stress again that I just hate sports and am pretty biased right off the bat..

I'll never understand why people will just abandon animals when there are rescues, the ASPCA, and shelters. I dunno about all towns but around here, taking an animal to a shelter is a death sentence, straight up.. The people at the pound (off the record of course) will even tell you so, as I've had them do a few times when we'd take animals up there.. Almost none of those animals ever see a home, and they don't have long..
It seems like most people seem to think that once you drop an animal off at the shelter or pound or what have you that it's just all safe and fine now.. They'll just be cared for until they find a home or die a natural death, most likely at the end of their long natural life (at least in this city, and this can't be the only one where this is true..) nothing could be further from the truth.. There's only so much space and there is so many unwanted animals to house, they're treated like inventory, with an expiration date, that date is gone, doesn't matter how good they look, how cute, how much they whine or beg or howl.. They're killed so another unwanted animal can simply occupy the space.
Whole cycle repeats..

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
