Why would I want a walkman again? They were huge, bulky things. I want something that fits in my pocket and doesn't castrate me when I sit down.
That retropod an example of taking something that works(ish), and making it worse.

I wouldn't want anything that contains an apple product, but that's just me, I have HIGH standards.
Edit: like I would never do something of the sort (ie: put a media player in a retro case without making sure the outside buttons worked for controls), it's possible they were just too lazy/ignorant to do it.

I kinda like the idea of an oldschool walkman. I don't think they'd work with an ipod touch though.

Hey Jet, I must confess to the mortal sin of using itunes over more functional music player software. However, I was wondering if you could help me find something other than itunes that offers individualized equalizer settings; as that is the only thing that keeps itunes' clutch on me :(

I was just talking to a friend of mine about winamp, I seem to recall it having some interesting settings of that nature, but gimme a minute and I can check to see if vlc does, he recommends mpc, so I imagine it does as well.
I'm not that much of an audiophile, I just like my media player to play all my files without having to find codecs, hence why I use vlc.

Unfortunately I stopped using winamp the moment AOL (yes, A O *** L) bought them out. I simply don't trust AOL to keep their filthy hands off their licensed software. As far as I know or care, Winamp has become akin to Real Player.

yeah vlc has an equalizer, and I know it has streaming features, for if you want to like set up a streaming channel on your network, so let's say your xbox or ps3 or other device wants to pick it up, so you don't have to attempt to convert all your files.
I've never really played with it though, I need to get around to it.
(with my Pi comming soon though I'm told it can support xbmc and I'm told it's really good for such a thing so I may skip it, but I should try anyway).

yeah that's what I told my friend: that I miss winamp for the cool skins, used to have a Love Hina skin.
