Music also teaches discipline to some extent, cause you can't just learn instantly but you actually need to apply some commitment to it and work for it(then how much it takes is just related to talent). But yeah it's easy to give up cause it wasn't how you imagined it, you need a goal and focus on it.
But maybe I digressed.
Seha.
The master of stating both side of the argument in one post xD
Just for the record he has a full set of drums that he never gets second thought to.. He doesn't seem that inclined except to knowledge.. For Christmas, he wanted stuff to teach him spanish, that's what he asked for.. He just seems to want to learn ***, like me.
Father son random BS'ing and learning sessions.
You two bond and shoot BS about any and everything.
Free and easy.
I played piano for a few years. I didn't really care for it because I wanted to focus on sports. One of these days I do want to pick up the violin. It's what I initially wanted to play but my school didn't have anyone that taught it.

Might wanna think twice.. I played violin for a while.. Oh god, the cramps..
I LOVE the sound of bagpipes, I don't know what it is about them but they really get to me deep down, maybe it's a Scottish heritage thing inside me but I can't really explain it, no other instrument has the same effect.

D:
I feel your pain.
I played the sax instead.
Still have my sax but little interest in playing it. It's like the red-headed step child of music :/
Playing classical pieces at least.

Hey so do I.. I'm welsh though, with german mixed up in there somewhere and some indian tribe.

Yeah bag pipes get me too but I'm like Slip.
Mostly German and Welsh.
And violin. Love both.
-_-!!!!! Went through a lot of that! Then after 30 minutes it was, "Oh well it seems that there was a hiccup on our side, we received a lot of other calls too."
I have a neighbour who's been trying to learn it for the past year or so. It's not even the fact that he sucks that irks me, but that he plays 24/7 "Something stupid" and it drives me insane!

19 years of video games have conditioned my hands quiet well.
I'm one of those injins.. No idea which.. I only know that like my great great great grandmother was full blood indian and that they lived in that area (as in not moved from somewhere else to that area, came from that area, Washington).
Shut up Uri!
Sorry, I didn't mean to be aggressive.
Now gtfo.
Sorry I'm in a LotR mood and am trying to wait patiently for the Hobbit.
Also I feel bad for you, bad notes on the sax are ear splitting xD.
At least I played Tenor so it wasn't OMG WTF loud. But it's hard to find music to really push you on sax unless you do jazz or something more up beat. In classical you just play boring lines similar to a base clarinet.

Ha.. Ha.. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.. It takes like 6 hours of gaming on a controller non stop to produce the cramps Violin gave me in an hour or less.. Controllers and keyboards are designed to be more natural, there's little natural about holding and playing a violin. Go to a music store and ask them to show you how to hold one, and then picture that pose for a couple hours straight more or less..

Well, you don't start by playing it for a couple straight hours. That's like learning how to walk and immediately going for a 5k run. Slow and steady wins the race, sir.

Okay then, picture even holding that pose for 30 minutes (which isn't unexpected even when you first start).. Hell my instructor made us hold this pose just to illustrate this point.. And the point stands, it's a very unnatural and uncomfortable position.

26,847 keystrokes last night during my Dragonsoul raid. Global cooldown capped so I end up hitting keys 5 times a second.
Yes, I run a keylog parser. I still can't match the Koreans..

My hands have very good endurance. Just sayin'
It's in the wrists, and I'm just sayin'.
Instructors love to harp about posture.
But if you're just learning to play for enjoyment and don't plan to perform posture can go to hell.
No, actually I think wrist strength (assuming you mean muscle) would actually make it worse. You have to bend it back at an almost unnatural angle, and more so, twist it outward at the same time.

True, but, it still takes a toll (perfect posture or not) but then I guess any hobby would.
I had to quit, my arms simply weren't designed to deal with that kinda torture..
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
