There were a few years where I felt like that and I know my dad was disappointed with me. Then after a while he started watching me play the games and competing and he started to approve and enjoy watching me game.

It took a while but he had finally accepted what I did even though I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life.
my dad hates my hobbies ever since i was little lol he hates me using my laptop, hates me playing video games :\ i guess watching tv all night is acceptable but not playing games

I don't have any hobbies really :| I go to school, watch TV and uhh ... occasionally play a video game lol.

Once I get some more money i'm going to maybe start doing that warhammer 40k tabletop game (or at least buy the models and put it together, that looks like fun lol)

really i dont know how he expects us to be super great kids when he has already done so much, what we do cant really compare lol he started off in poverty in mexico with no mom and now is making bank here with tons of cars lol even if i graduate college i wont be making as much as he does in a year for decades lol -_-

I just know that I screwed up this bread recipee.. too much in proportions. I guess going by memory for something I haven't made in 2 months wasn't such a good idea. in 2 hours my kitchen will be covered in dough!

One thing to keep in mind is that our parents did not have video games and have likely never experienced the complexity of todays video games and the mental faculties required to do well in such activities. I mean when they were our age Pong was just coming out lol. Honestly the reason they are like that is because they have absolutely no idea of the depth and scope provided by video games.

Yah also think about how much text you read through in an rpg, it must be at least several standard books, I learned more vocabulary playing rpg's than I did reading books for sure.
