Yikes. My PS2 is semi-broken and randomly loses the ability to read discs. And currently only a PS2 can reliably play PS2 games (go figure). Until Sony admits taking away backwards compatibility was a bad idea and makes amends for it somehow, I'll need a functioning PS2 ._.

if you have a decent powered PC it can play ps2 games with an emulator, glitchy but should do the task.

But a used ps2 is pretty cheap now...

(Sony never admits to bad ideas...)

Yeah I was considering emulation, but I'll need a much better PC to play it on a satisfactory level. But to abandon even so much as technical and retail support for a system that has held them up for so many years and has a ridiculous amount of titles that retain a good degree of replay value is stupid. Luckily some games are getting the PS3 remake attention they deserve. FFX, GoW and Shadow of the Colossus were a nice start, but even great games made from smaller developers or those with no intention of remastering leave me dusting off my PS2 still :/

what kind of system do you have?

yeah I have a backwards compatible ps3, I understand why they took the feature out, I just disagree with it.

It's an attempt at profit margin, instead of trying to keep the loyal fans happy.

ZAM was handing out free beta keys earlier, not sure if they have any left.

I'm still sporting an old dual core with a GTS 250 (ugh).
Luckily i5s are getting cheap and finding a referbed GTX 500 series shouldn't be too costly.

Also I'm surprised they still have stuff up their sleeve for pokemon. After 5 generations, I can only imagine things starting to look like this.

Having a blast trying to get Microsoft Silverlight to install properly. Been able to watch Netflix for months without any issues. Come last night, and I can't watch for 10 minutes before my browser (tried Chrome, Firefox, even IE) crashes. It has to do with silverlight according to some google-fu. So I uninstall silverlight, try an old version (and netflix says I have to update >.>), try version 4 (and same issue I originally had), and version 5 says I'm not using a 64-bit OS when I definitely am. So I can't get it to install.

In the process of trying it through windows update, and if this doesn't work. I have one other option, which is to boot in safe-mode with networking and allow it to install the .msi with a registry tweak.

If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. Any thoughts people?

Oh should note, tried the 32bit version of silverlight. It installs but Netflix spits out errors (1001, unknown error).

Edit~ OS: Windows Vista Business SP2 64-bit

lol, and idk it may be able to run a game at low fps if you have enough ram and a good graphics card.

I just looked up the vita specs, short of the lack of r2/l2 if it can be hacked in the future it could posses a ps2 emulator.

idk I like the idea of handheld options for stuff, call me odd.

my laptop can run the ps2 emulator and you could easily build a desktop equivalent to it for less than $800.

sounds like your issue right there.

I've never had an issue with silverlight, but if all you're using it for is netflix maybe try a dual boot with XP, or a virtual machine with XP?

or possibly upgrade to 7 (by upgrade I mean a fresh install).

usually if one is having issues of that caliber it's either a really odd fix, an OS issue, or severe malware issue, there's a program built in windows to double check if you have all system files, I just forget what it is.
